TODAY I visit the Waffle and Berry (a local favorite in Hawaii) for an insane breakfast, tried the local loco moco Hawaiian dish and ended by visiting the Pearl Harbor Memorial Center. I recommend you try this on your next Hawaii trip!

Wow~ That Waffle is so attractive, it makes my mouth water! Their guided tour bus is so convenient, I love it! Loco moco is a famous Hawaiian food, I’m glad you found it! There are so many kinds of souvenirs sold in that market. I really hope I can go shopping! Thank you for taking us to Hawaii, especially Pearl Harbor. It was great to see the submarine. You are awesome! 👍😍👏

$30 for a loco moco is crazy! For those who watch this and want to try a Loco Moco just go to Liliha Bakery $18 or walk a few blocks to Rainbow Drive-In for $11 or even to Sweet E’s.

$30 for a Loco Moco is a crazy ripoff. If you had to have one in Waikiki, you could have gone to Liliha Bakery in the International Marketplace.

A few feet from Waffle and Berry is the Royal Lobster, for $30 you can get a fresh lobster roll. I live here and frequently go to Royal Lobster for their loaded lobster roll. The owner flies them in from Maine daily and only has two things on the menu, Lobster Roll and Lobster Cobb Salad. Once he sells out, he closes shop. People from the East Coast often say Royal Lobster's Rolls are superior.

Highway inn or helenas for Hawaiian food. You’d have to Uber to both spots. Rainbow drive inn for loco moco and any other local plate lunches. $29 for a loco moco is ridiculous man way better local places to get it from. Go get a poke bowl from Ono seafood on Kapahulu and some Malasadas from Leonard’s bakery. Gotta get outside Waikiki for the real stuff.

Zane…if you get a chance please stop by Kauai…poipu beach…barking sands…grand canyons of Kauai…pacific missile range facility barking sands if you can get on a navy installation…walk on some of the secluded beach on base..you’ll know why they call it ‘barking sands..’ beautiful place and people that I fell in love with back in the 90’s..

Waikiki trolley is a rip off. You can ride the public bus for much cheaper (fares are capped at $7.50 per day) and they will take you anywhere in the city. The bus service in Honolulu is actually quite good.

Agree ! And I have rode The Bus last everywhere ! But for a tourist , the trolley has a designated route with commentary from the driver. One day we The Bus to Diamond Head , did the walk and got the Trolley out of Diamond Head , it was full commentary all the way back to Waikiki

Just spent 6 months in Oahu. It is hard to find good cheap Hawaiian food in Waikiki. Honestly L&L (fast foodish) is not a bad place to go for a Loco Moco or a Chicken Katsu on the cheap. That Banzai Burger you saw in Kuhio Food Hall does have a moco loco. It wasn't bad. But I had loco mocos at about 8 places and there wasn't much difference between them. Leonard's is a must for malasadas. They have some food truck locations around the island that don't have the lines that the main location have. Ululani's for shave ice. Liliha Bakery has this pineapple cream cheese pan that was amazing. And I am usually a chocolate guy, not a fruit guy.

🌺🌴 Fascinating tour of Pearl Harbor! I'm always impressed by all the gleaming brass and metals in the submarines! It's so cramped in there, and probably really hot if not deep diving in the cool ocean! Pearl Harbor has both the USS Arizona, the one that got America into WWII, and USS Missouri, the one that war ending treaty was signed on. 🖖

July, 2024 When we were at Waikiki, we ate lunch & dinner all week at Stix's Honolulu Noodles Restaurant (a Taiwan restaurant) which has home-made beef&bone&23 Chinese dry herbs& Chinese mushroom broth without MSG(did not get dry on our tongues after consumption) boiled up to 72 hours! Noodles & won ton wrappers are home-made too! We like the hearty piping hot Beef Soup Noodles & the hearty piping hot Won Ton Soup Noodles! Natural, nutritious& tasty! Very good service & clean too! 11am-2pm Beef Soup Noodles special price $15(a $6 off) served with green Bok Choy leaves & sliced green onions. Free condiments like hot chili sauces, beef butter,& pickled vegetables are served separately with the beef soup noodles also. 2-4pm Offered with regular price Beef Soup Noodles& the same condiments mentioned above are hot chili sauces & Taiwanese Kimchi free condiments served separately with the 3 FREE POTSTICKERS. For dine-in, at the restaurant before 9:15pm. Take-out service after9:15pm. Can eat in Stix's common areas anytime & after 9:15pm. Save receipt for codes to use Stix's Men's/Women's bathrooms.

A lot of local places have their own take on a loco moco but most of them are essentially the same. In my opinion, what really separates the good places from the "im too hungry to care" places is the gravy. Liliha Bakery is a popular place but Diamond Head Grill, and Rainbow Drive In is good too all close to Waikiki.

you had a fancy loco moco. it's supposed to be 'truck driver' food. I like Rainbow's drive inn, or a little more upscale: big city diner. even our Ruby Tuesdays locations here serve loco moco... theirs is very good actually.

The Bowfin was a highlight of the whole Pearl Harbor tour, the handheld receiver they provide is narrated by a former captain of the boat who provides excellent commentary about the submarine operation and mission, it's called the Pearl Harbor avenger because it was commissioned on December 7th, 1942, I highly recommend the audio tour if you go.

Zane, great video as always...keep them coming. I have a question though. I have only heard the word 'peso' pronounced in the same way but you pronounce it like a Filipino does. Why do you choose that single word to pronounce as a Filipino but none other words. No offence but it sounds weird. I'm just curious.

In my opinion, Hawaii & NOLA have the most unique and delicious foods in the US. It comes from a fusion of cultures. Yes, NY, L.A., etc. have great ethnic foods (Italian, Chinese, etc.), but NOLA and Hawaii have unique foods that aren't found anywhere else (except maybe Las Vegas, 9th island 🤣). Loco moco?? Get a second opinion.😂 It's from Hawaii, but not really Hawaian food. Kind of local comfort food.
