kinda just noticed this but I feel really sorry for ikkaku and that hollow he beats in the beginning because if you'll notice..he has no eyepatch. That means he was super saiyan zaraki during those fights...God I wouldve hated to fight zaraki back before he found out that he could have a more "fun" fight by cutting his fighting limit by like 50% lol.

Back then, he was weaker than he is now, Kenpachi's probobly gotten stronger after all the fights since then, being a Captain, being in a place with higher spiritual energy. I mean, Ikkaku's cirtainly gotten stronger, and if Kenpachi was at his current eyepacthless level in that fight, Ikkau would have died in one blow, no questions.
