Cool Forgotten Weapons merch! shop.forgottenweapons.com
Today we have the M93 "Black Arrow" out at the range. I made an attempt to get the scope zeroed enough to be on paper, but was unable to get it there within a few rounds, so most of this video is shot using the rifle's backup iron sights. Perhaps others will have more recoil tolerance to properly dial in one of these.
Overall, the M93 is definitely a military-spec heavy rifle, not a commercial precision rifle. All of its elements are functional, but they all leave something to be desired. The grip and stock are a bit uncomfortable, the iron sights are a bit crude, the trigger is heavy and squishy, and the recoil is more brutal than I am used to, even considering that it's chambered for the .50 BMG cartridge. That said, I got a remarkable 3-round group, at least by my estimation.

@𝓼𝓪𝓳𝓫𝓮𝓻 𝓴𝓾𝓻𝓪𝓳𝓫𝓮𝓻 depends, well made rakia can kick like a horse and taste like the finest plum you have ever picked from a tree. Many people dont know this, but you can balance taste and strenght with distilled water, tho it is not prefered because if you put too much water there is no going back. And yeah, normal rakia should not kick much, but prepek (you take the already made rakia and put it through the same process once again to get even more alcohol and taste) should really kick back a bit less than the m93, but keep that satisfying and beautifull taste. Its not a juice, its rakia.

@Kv N2O nope, its serbian, bulgarians were just the first to call it their national drink. Its litteraly referenced in serbian culture a thousand years ago along with wine. Rakija is basically like vodka or whiskey, same way of making it, but balkans were first to throw different fruits in the kettle. Maybe not, but first to use it in their culture like a traditional drink.

@dankovac1609
@dankovac1609 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not a professional but it might be due to the Barret being semi auto so it loses some of the gas going forward as a good portion of it has to cycle the action. Then again i agree that certain bolt action .50 cals I've seen fire tend to sound way less beefy than this beast. Might just be me misremembering. Edit: a reply corrected me, it's not gas operated so idk why the M93 sounds louder.

@@Requeium On Ian's previous video on this gun I've some Serbian people who've supposedly served with these say that it indeed has a buffer, but it's really really stiff. If that's the case, it's probably just so stiff that it compresses a very short distance before returning. That honestly sounds like it could push back into you in a weird timing as the recoil impulse hits and really do no good to actually soften the kick. I'm just speculating.

I don't know if I've ever heard a .50 cal come through as clearly on audio before, you really did a great job of capturing just how much concussion one of these has. The audio on video is usually quite muted with the exception of once or twice that Dr. Matt fired his Barrett. I haven't fired a .50 since I was on a Cdn forces range back in the 90's and it immediately brought me back to that experience.

A lot of the rifle really seems built for that anti-material role without caring about also being a sniper rifle. Like, you don't need a great trigger, the quickest follow-up shots, or pression iron sights when it's built for hitting a light armored vehicle at 400 meters. Also, the desert with the mass of green after heavy rains is always so dang pretty. Arizona is quite a pretty state. 10/10 excellent shooting range.

Just imagine what it felt like for the conscript soldier who first shot 7.62X39 M70AB2, then was handed 7.92X57 DMR rifle (M76)(P.S. we call it a sniper) and thought that was a stiff recoil. First time I shot it I was like "What the fuck was that, did the thing just exploded on me?" and it took half a second to regain my vision. Funny thing is that, since that is the only 12.7 rifle I ever shot, I really thought that is what it should feel like. But it does the job it was intended for and does it well since we have variety of ammunition for different purposes. Oh, yeah, one more thing, before the carry handle have been introduced we used to lug that thing arround in a special wooden box we called a cradle.

I have had my Barrett 99 for over 10 years now . The factory brake on it did a great job . The gun was so loud that the range where I shoot it said to put a muffler on it or quit bringing it .So I got the AAC Cyclops and made some subsonic loads with Trailboss . It is a pleasure to shoot with the subs but the full power rounds have alot more kick with the can or the AAC quick attach brake . I use to shoot it at least once a month . Now it is only twice a year . But it is still a great tool to keep in my box .

Zastava was smart to market it in .50 BMG in the west. Their experience with tyranny paid off because if they exclusively marketed a relatively domestic 12.7, after this ammo ban they would have sold paperweights. Not that there is a huge profit for big bore rifles (there is a massive demand, with a complimentary paywall) it’s interesting how it influences decisions by foreign companies. I’m not saying it’s a direct effect, but it is interesting to pick apart in hindsight.
