He was also playing in the best junior team in the world...He will need to change his game at the NHL level, especially to play as a D-Man, goalies move quickly in the NHL, more shot blocked by NHL D-men, pressure is higher, player strenght too. So what you see now is NOT what you'll get. Bowen Byram was a D-God in the junior, but had to adapt his game to the NHL, he was also better defensively and stronger. On the other way Zane is a special player, he plays with easyness wich is very rare and special, everything is easy for him at junior level that he seem to play just for fun, so he will translate easily to a higher level, he's very intelligent, he will find solutions by himself often on the ice during the plays and before to meet the coaches after the games, and you add all the good points that David said in this analysis. So there is a lot of IF for a top five, especially if what you see is not what you'll get, for me he's too risky for a top five pick but after I can see.

For all those saying his defense is poor, that can be worked on. He's a top prospect for a reason. He is 6'0 ~180lbs at 18 and can maneuver better than most forwards in this draft. If he's already displaying this type of skill, who's to say his coaching staff can't integrate that into his breakout & transition game? He will definitely spend an extra year before joining the show, and will likely be a slower transition to the NHL, but when his game works.. it could work in a big way. A BIG way.

@@stensy3933 he will likely spend 2-3 years playing in other leagues before joining the show. He has a lot to work on.. but the potential is absolutely there if he's able to get the right development around him. He is absolutely a project, though.

The flames have never had a top 3 pick, there highest pick is 4th with Sam Bennett which is kinda telling of how mid they've been. With markstrom and mangiapane being traded this off season I expect them to compete for top 3 picks this year

Any team that lets their Ds participate in the play. He's often mocked to OTT or CGY but I'm not sure he would thrive in their current or projected system. It's a good question. MTL would work. I'd like to see what he could do with Seattle.

Not a chance , parekh is most overrated player in the draft , his shooting percentage from this season is not possible to sustain even half of it . Yakemchuck is going to be a better pro then parekh
