Zbrush Tutorial - Dynamesh - Learn Dynamesh in this Zbrush Beginner Tutorial!
Dynamesh is great for hard surface, anatomy, jewelry, and character sculpts.
Use Dynamesh to master the resolution of your subtools in this beginner tutorial!
Dynamesh is great for creating holes, close holes, and boolean objects.
Even if you're creating an anime face and are a complete beginner dynamesh can get you going fast.
Dynamesh is the perfect solution for utility and quickly starting your sculpt. Don't know how to use Dynamesh? Not a problem.
We do not cover Dynamesh vs Zremesher in this video. Zremesher is a feature we will cover in a later video.

This is a part of my Zbrush Beginner Tutorial series. I will take you through the basics and move on to more complex sculpting and character creation in later videos.
Eventually we will tackle digital art, sculpting, and eventually UV's and texturing!

Hi Mike, could you aleborate on this topic with some "scalling" issues. I was using Zbrush always like - open sphere, append ect., when i finished the model i took it to ex. Maya and the scale was always off but whatever. Yesterday i tried to understand how we can controll scale in zbrush, and im totally confused, i can't even understand what basic sphere true dimensions are. Also imported meshes, what's egzactly is happening when they get imported. I imported one object through import, and this same object to another subtool by append. I belive they didnt end up being same scale, because Dynamesh values started to became very diffrent in density. And that's the part that connect with this video, what are dynamesh dependency on scale of the object, couse i belive smaller object has lower density of the mesh as bigger object on the same dynamesh value. And ys it's obvious that mesh has less polygons couse it's smaller but why density is changing also?? or maybe there's a solution to keep it constant. Thanks anyway :)

Hey! Good question. I wish that all programs had a universal way of translating scale, but unfortunately we have to do some gymnastics to get things to work whenever transferring a mesh from one program to the next. The way I understand it in Zbrush, if your object is small compared to the world scale, you don't have to turn up the resolution slider as high for Dynamesh. If you scale your object up way bigger in Zbrush, then you would have to crank that resolution slider up higher in order to get more geometry on your object. So bigger objects require a higher resolution, and smaller objects can have a lower resolution. This number only affects the number of polygons while using Dynamesh, so if you have 1 million polygons and export to Maya or Blender, the object will still have 1 million polys even if the scale changes.
