Czech and Slovak aren't really separate languages are they? If your fluent in Czech your fluent in Slovak and vice versa right? it's just different dialect and a few different words?
@ssarinova
@ssarinova 8 ай бұрын
@@shanegiannini6166well yes but if our nations werent so close we would understand each other way less. because it isnt just the fact that they are similar languages, its also the fact that we grew up hearing both languages. im from slovakia and when i was a kid 70% of the fairytales, shows or tv channels for kids were in czech or only had czech dubbing, no slovak. so i feel like that plays a bigger role in it.

@@shanegiannini6166 and also ive seen czech people who know czech but moved to a foregin country at a young age say, that they cant understand slovak at all because they were never exposed to it.

Not in this case though. It’s common for most Europeans to know at least 2, if not 3, languages though. Usually their own country’s language, maybe 2 if they have them, and then add English on top of their native languages. A lot of them are similar to others too so it’s easy to learn. Especially if your first language is a dialect, or modification, of an already existing language. Like Swiss people with German or French because of Swiss-German and Swiss-French, or Belgian people with Dutch because of Flemish.

@@boland73 Good explanation. Most folks don't understand the difference between languages and dialects Don't understand Latin-based languages. Those who are fluent in Spanish can read French, speak Italian. I would think in this global world that most Americans would be aware that much of this world speaks at least two dialects. They don't understand Latin languages vs. Cyrillic alphabet All this money on education, teaching tolerance, cultures- so what are they teaching in school? Cuz obviously Americans aren't getting this concept but we're supposed to be all tolerant without even knowing how to speak another language or relate to people that were supposed to be tolerant with? So we're teaching tolerance in theory, but not handing them any skills. I couldn't imagine getting through life with only one language? Limiting yourself to the same people all the time? Staying in your own little world? No new vocabulary, flavors or ideas? How boring

It's not like he went to school to learn these languages folks-Americans don't get it, Many people speak multiple languages You speak one latin-based language, you basically speak them all, if you have a half a brain. Once you know the Cyrillic alphabet, you've got a lot of languages, because the dialects spun off from another language, close by. There are a few languages that still exists that have no correlation to other languages in the world -like Basque Country- they were isolated away from the rest of the cultures so their language is unique And you can hear the formation of this type of language when you go to a native American reservation because they speak their dialect mixed with the European languages in eadtern Canada it's english-french &M'iqMaq Swiss, German and austrian-very similar if not the same. The most impressive is his learning English. Cuz that's the hardest language in the Western hemisphere A lot of irregular verbs and vowels next to each other. All the other languages just naturally come to you as you're in that culture. English is the most difficult by far. But I don't think he spends a lot of time with his kids. So maybe he can take some time to teach them a few languages.
