A Texas Children's nurse is fired after her anti-vax comment on a Facebook group was shared with her employer...by a ZPac member.
I try to stay even-tempered during these live shows, but I JUST CAN'T with these people anymore.

For people who think this nurse is being treated unfairly, she had to sign legal documents regarding patient privacy upon employment. Not only was her actions unprofessional, she gave no thought to this child's family. Her conduct is reprehensible. What callous disregard she displayed!

there's a job called stringing. There are people out there who chase ambulances, listen to the medical radio frequencies, stick cameras in the faces of patients while they are getting into the ambulance, AND RECORD EVREYTHING. There are two major things you need to violate HIPPA. An ID and a MEDICAL COMPLAINT/ CHEIF COMPLAINT/ NATURE OF ILLNES WHATEVER you want to call it. You cannot violate HIPPA by just saying I had a patient with SO N SO. You need BOTH an ID AND SO N SO. Lets not take this from a nurse who is against vaccination, WHICH YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BELIEVE IN EVEN AS A HEALTHCARE PROVIDOR, into a witch hunt. FYI get vaccinated, this nurse is a TARD!! but SHOULD NOT GET THROWN UNDER A BUS, OR LOSE THEIR JOB!!!!!!!!!!

Did you miss the part where this is the only case in TX of measles?!? If you don’t think this ID’s the pt, then you are also an idiot. She absolutely needed to be fired, she gave out way too much information, and she knew it too because she went back and deleted a bunch of stuff. Were you not paying attention? Also, “tard” is extremely derogatory and I can’t believe you used it. I sure as hell hope you are not also a nurse.

ya even zdogg has an video where he talks about sergeants getting sued for saying things they shouldn't have during a surgery about the patient, not knowing the pt had left her phone on recording during the surgery. He protects them in that video. People make mistakes. And honestly she didn't violate HIPPA as far as I see. She didn't ever ID the patient. It just seems like a lot of the heat is coming about her opinion on vaccination

SAYWHAT? By any chance, have you ever been educated on HIPPA? If there is anything whatsoever that can tie an information to a patient, it is a violation. In this case being that there is currently only 1 child at this point in time with the diagnosis, it would be very hard for the accused to argue that she was not talking about said patient. As a healthcare provider it would be smart not to talk about work. Period. That should be an absolute rule unless of course you just happen to love talking about problems your patients are going through regardless of how others knowing of their situation will effect their lives, in which case.... what kind of healthcare provider would you be??... To put it bluntly.... a shitty one

LibbyLiz It seems to me her beliefs are one thing but, if she brings it into the way she deals with patients and actually inserts her beliefs into their care that is a different story. I am pro life and I do medical ultrasound. I have never and would never interject my personal beliefs on a woman that told me she was contemplating an abortion. That would be unprofessional and out of my scope of practice. It is out of a nurses scope of practice to interject recommendations not to vaccinate a child. Those decisions are left to doctors and patients. So I would say it is not her belief that would jeopardize her license but her behavior.

When I was in nursing school we were having a discussion in my Professional issues class. The subject of antivax nurses came up and my professor told the story of them almost hiring a nurse to teach the pediatrics class at my school. She interviewed great and seemed like a really good candidate, but then they looked at her facebook page and found out she was an antivaxer. Obviously they didn't hire her, but one of my classmates asked the question of why isn't she allowed to have her own opinion about vaccines. I replied with because there's no debate about vaccines and she cannot be teaching something that stupid and dangerous at a college where we are supposed to go by evidenced based practice instead of some bullshit that was made up 20 years ago.

Preventable diseases and injuries are the worst, the shame and self blame is never forgiven. With the up in coming Flu season and vaccination process ramping up, it's not if, but when another individual dies from a poor lack in judgement and education. It's unconscionable that a nurse, would recommend not using car seats, leaving infants and children unattended in vehicles, bath tubs and swimming pools, and simply being in our lane of vaccination and preventable adult and childhood diseases. I can't think of a better platform for our Nursing Board to stand, and to make it abundantly clear that our job is to give our patients the tools to live in the best possible health.

That is why when we have outbreaks fecal oral diseases we can trace them back to third world countries where fecal oral disease as still common. We live healthier because of plumbers. How dare you guys mock people who embrace true science and not pharmaceutical company science. I support antivax nurses. Watch three of my grandson go into Autism within 2 days of their vaccines. One recouperated enough to live a normal life, the other will be institutionalized, the 3 has potential. Bury our heads in the sand does us no good. In my 70's. While sitting in the waiting area a sobbing 4 year old girl and her mom came in and and I overheard the nurse take her info, symptoms (104 fever, vomiting, swollen cheeks, spots on palms) and diagnoise her with mumps. The mom was shocked and I will never forget the look on her face when the nurse said it was an extremely painful illness and they needed to get her in a bed and medicated for fever but mostly pain immediately. That mom was crying almost more than her suffering kid. Vaccines keep our kids from missing school and suffering in pain so maybe nonvacers should think of what is best for the child before anything else. ***Note I changed some details to maintain confidentiality and I wasn't even there as a healthcare rep I'm just being considerate of another family... it's so easy we should all do it!

OK, so if your children are vaccinated . . . shouldn't that protect them from the illness? Is that not what it's for? "If it’s mathematically true that we have never achieved herd immunity through vaccination because of adult vaccination rates and the fact that vaccines wane over time, where are all the epidemics?" "I’m not the first person to ask this question. It gets asked all the time by educated people who understand this topic" "That vaccine-induced herd immunity is mostly myth can be proven quite simply. When I was in medical school, we were taught that all of the childhood vaccines lasted a lifetime. This thinking existed for over 70 years. It was not until relatively recently that it was discovered that most of these vaccines lost their effectiveness 2 to 10 years after being given. What this means is that at least half the population, that is the baby boomers, have had no vaccine-induced immunity against any of these diseases for which they had been vaccinated very early in life. In essence, at least 50% or more of the population was unprotected for decades. If we listen to present-day wisdom, we are all at risk of resurgent massive epidemics should the vaccination rate fall below 95%. Yet, we have all lived for at least 30 to 40 years with 50% or less of the population having vaccine protection. That is, herd immunity has not existed in this country for many decades and no resurgent epidemics have occurred." worldmercuryproject.org/news/herd-immunity-a-dishonest-marketing-gimmick/

To reply to this, i understand the confusion in your question. Vaccinations, in some individuals, do "wear off" and no longer provide immunity. For example, I had to get another MMR and Hep B vaccination whenever my titer (blood results) came in with low immunity numbers. It all depends on the individual's body chemistry. Many people stay immune for life, many lose their immunity. The best way to check this is to have a titer blood test for your vaccination immunity every so often. It's better to be safe than sorry!

There are varying levels of autism as I'm sure you know. I have personally seen two children in our extended families have horrible reactions to the MMR vaccination. They went from totally vibrant/communicative children to absolutely "lights out"/gone within literally a few hours after the shot. This happened years ago in different extended families, but to this day the older child, now 20, still bangs his head until he bleeds, screams so often and so loudly that they have had to move twice a year, and he won't ever live normally. He is one of the few that has been verified "vaccination injured", according to the government's own fund they created for that reason. The younger child had the same exact thing happen. Just hours after the shot, gone forever as they knew him. In addition, I have a dear friend who is permanent/full care giver to her 25 year old daughter who has severe autism, yet again very shortly after that shot. Common sense alone says that should ring a few bells. That said, I am NOT anti-vaccination. I am pro but SAFE vaccinations. I am fully vaccinated, as are my children. My daughter delayed giving her son the MMR (this happened to both kids in our families when they were 2 years old). So she waited until he was between 4 and 5. She will delay also with her daughter, just to be safe. It's a very scary thing to see that happen to kids you know and care about and then wonder if it will happen to your child if there is something in the genes that sparks it. My aunt gave her up entire nursing and later doctor career to care for her grandchild (the 20 year old). She has studied the MMR and its affects for years. She does not believe autism is caused by the MMR directly, but rather triggers a reaction in some children that compromises the immune system. We know another autistic boy who is amazingly bright and goal-driven and it doesn't at all hold him back, like you. There's very different levels, and sadly some are severe. There's truth on both sides of this issue.

Many times, unless you take higher level science or psych classes, you don't learn how to read scientific research and evaluate scientific evidence. Many of these nurses only take a course in cell biology instead of the two semester college biology courses and only a one semester aspects of chemistry course. And A&P doesn't have time to teach insruct students about how to evaluate research. Also, almost no one will take something like logic or critcal thinking as those are classified as philosophy classes. It leaves many people on the default of just accepting what someone says because they have PhD or MD after their names. But if you know a little bit of stuff about how the body works, then you can easily jump to conclusions. Where antivacination really got a foothold was when it was discovered that autistic children had inflammation in the brain and vaccines have things in them that promote inflammation and one of them is mercury based. 2+2=4 right? Well if there was a deeper look, then you realize that the inflammation is localized. Deeper yet, the mercury in the vaccine is no more dangerous than the chlorine in table salt because it isn't bio-available.

Not to say those degrees were crap, but a lot of new information is available about immunity on the molecular level that they were never privy too, and none of them do serious continued education. So they have no real understanding of the immune system and how vaccines work, and they are biased by the fact that they’ve never seen these diseases, and they suffer from the Dunning-Kruger effect. What amazes me is their overall confidence in their convictions.

I, personally, can tell you how bad measles was, cause it nearly killed me. When I was child, MMR did not exist yet. I contracted measles at 6, and was home sick for almost a month (I think, if it happened now, I would have been hospitalized. Not in those days, because so many kids had it). And, BTW, it left me pretty sickly for the next couple years. When vaccines became available, people got their kids the shots. There was NO controversy. I was also one of the kids who got taken by their moms to the public polio vaccine clinics when those were a thing. It was just what everybody did, it did NOT occur to ANYONE to question it. Only people who were not around when kids got sick and died from “childhood diseases” could possibly be ani-vaccines.

As a nurse, however, patient and public health and safety are paramount. Not vaccinating is just dangerous, and not backed by any kind of scientific evidence. While not everyone will have the same side effects from getting covid, the ones that were not so lucky to come out of it is so heartbreaking. I strive to want a healthy community and home and the fact that people take it as a joke and their rights being taken away is just mind-blowing. I fail to see how any health provider is going against it knowing that in nursing school many vaccines are required of you. Even as a child it was required and I can say if I didnt have to get chicken pox as a child, that would have been great. I can't even imagine the children who suffered from polio and the side effects they still bare as they grew older...this stuff really blows my mind and saddens me.

Actually anti-vaxxing nurse culture is more prevalent than most think. I was surprised of the number of nurses that believed that the flu vaccine was a form of population control during rotations. Also pediatric nurses that would cast doubt by saying to parents that "we don't really know how vaccines work and if they are harmful" despite overwhelming evidence of the contrary. Most nurses are great and awesome. Unfortunately, much of nursing education does not discuss in depth science nor does it focus on evaluating evidence based medicine.

As a nurse I know that most RNs who go to get their bachelor's from a accredited university should learn about research and typically most of those research classes use the Wakefield study as an example of a horrible, non accurate, biased study and they teach those students how differentiate those inaccurate studies from decent ones. Most bsn programs also emphasize how that study was retracted from the journal because it was a bogus study... I would guess that these nurses that have these anti vax opinions are LVNs or maybe LVNs that eventually got their BSN online and did not have a rigorous research course in their schooling (no offense to LVNs or online BSNs but if they do have a research class it's generally not as hard or informative comparatively)...and if they did they must have not paid attention at all or cheated their way to passing that class...honestly they are a disservice to the nursing profession and they are doing harm to the general public instead of healing as nurse's duty is intended. I think a healthcare professional that has this opinion should have their license revoked because it is borderline aiding and abetting to murder...especially someone who would want to swab their own unvaccinated child with the swab of suffering child infected with measles...those parents should have CPS called on them

I'm going to have to disagree with your blanket statement that much of nursing education doesn't focus on "in depth science" or "evidence based medicine." I was certainly trained in undergrad. to perform a review of the literature, to interpret and critique research and to engage in evidence based practice. 🤔 I think the problem is more so that some individuals identify so strongly with certain beliefs - you can throw evidence to the contrary at them all day and they're not going to change their stance.

This whole article just astounds me. I live in Washington State. Unfortunately we have the most loose, yes, loose rules on vaccines. I worked in a level III high risk OB unit ( I am now retired). After a mom delivers she would have to be informed of vaccines available and times to be given. During flu epidemics we would give the flu vaccines before discharge. You would not believe some of the idiocy I would hear. Now this is in the city of Microsoft, Amazon, and the other tech industries. So we are talking highly educated people. "Oh, the MMR causes autism " and " I heard that autism is on the rise because of vaccines" and my fav "Its better to just get the disease" . Yikes! I usually pled the 5th. I know I took the chicken shit way out and gave the data I knew and said that I was a pro vaccine. I had measles when I was 7 in 1963, I am now 63 and I remember how sick I was. I was out of school for 2 weeks. The MMR vaccine came out the next year I think. That was 56 years ago and I remember the light hurting my eyes, the fever, and sensitivity of my skin and the pounding headache. During this recent epidemic, some physicians never misdiagnosed measles because they never saw it. Hopefully our state will get a spine vote out the philosophical exception.

Vaccination issue aside (and I wholeheartedly agree with ZDogg on all of that) this is a HUGE lesson to ALL nurses who use social media. Watch what you post. Be careful who you are friends with and review the security of your page. But..even with security, it doesn't matter. I see borderline stuff nearly every day, and it's not just HIPPA. Saying (even jokingly) things about your facility, your views, or nursing in general needs to be something you carefully consider before hitting send. I'm glad this potential mass murderer has been outed, but it also needs to be a cautionary tale for all of us in health care in this age of social media.

I had measles when I was 9 yrs old. I still remember how sick I was. I had such a horrible headache and rash was more like large hives that itched awful. I was in the bed for 2 weeks and I was happy to be there. That was not normal for my 9 yr old self. My boyfriend had them when he was a teenager and he was sick for 6 weeks. Of course he had pneumonia with it and was very sick. Measles are no joke for sure.

I'm studying to be a Nurse, but in the meantime, I work as an EMT. I can say from my own experiance, I've seen A LOT of sick kids, (Nothing near a sick as the case being discussed here) but sick enough to ask the parents, did they vaccinate their children and to my surprise, the answer seems to be increasingly that they did not. Of course all I and my medic can say are our two bits about why vaccines are important, but it's sad to see that these kids are eventually going to get sick enough where it could potentially alter their life. Loved this podcast, really nailed it.

As a RN this boggles my mind... Thanks for bringing this to light. I don't understand how one who has been educated on the dangers of not vaccinating and vaccination safety could be this ignorant. The most important factor in effective healthcare is primary intervention and for a nurse to interfere with that is malicious. It's malevolent because we're taught to treat based on peer reviewed science NOT anecdotal fear. It seriously undermines the profession with people like this especially with the mentioning of her desire to infect her own child.

@@redditontap-shorts8485 ...arguing with you people is like smashing my face against a brick wall because you have no basis in reality. Please...please show me the research that says that vaccines kill kids and make them dumber because the one study you will quote about autism has be debunked hundreds of times...but you don't care because it proves your point even though thousands of other research shows that vaccines DO NOT give children autism. Please go pick up an actual medical book and learn how autism works because, guess what, YOU ARE BORN WITH IT! You can't "catch" autism or delevope it later in life from ANY source! Also...the only reason measles even exists still is because of idiots LIKE YOU who won't vaccinate your kids to prevent a life threatening condition. Oh, by the way, a measles outbreak happened in Disneyland not too long ago, and guess what, only ONE child who got sick was vaccinated...ALL OF THE OTHER KIDS WERE IN THE HOSPITAL! You people don't seem to understand that how vaccines actually work and I advise you to go to college and take a pathophysiology course so you can learn how vaccines are made and how our body uses them to protect you. God forbid that science has advanced far enough that we can save lives now...except you people seem to think it's a bad thing...did you ever think that maybe God gave the idea to these scientists to make vaccines? And back in history before vaccines, the population wasn't nearly as large as today BECAUSE people were dying from disease left and right...now...we can prevent that but go ahead...hate vaccines...and when your child contracts the disease and medical helps them stay alive I pray you learn from your mistake.

The whole needle comment is just silly... let me guess you commented from your smartphone... the point I’m making is that technology and science have advanced, and so one would think that medicine would follow suit.. saying needles or things such as that aren’t meant to be utilized bc we weren’t born with them in us is comparable to saying your smartphone shouldn’t be utilized bc we weren’t born with those in us either. Innocent people (ie children) are being harmed bc of having space cadets for parents...

Moreover, if other children or adults catch a disease preventable by vaccine from a child who is unvaccinated (by choice or neglect), those people and their insurance companies should be able to sue to cover medical bills, pain and suffering, or wrongful death. These days when DNA testing is possible, it IS within technological abilities to ascertain beyond a reasonable doubt where a pathogenic strain came from. Many antivaxxers like libertarian solution - the philosophy that vaccinating really violates is "the government ain't the boss of me!" Libertarians like the notions of settling things in court over something someone does that causes someone a loss.

Jerry Swetlow I work in a hospital lab and I would never, ever consider taking a biohazardous sample out of the hospital. The only place that belongs is in a patient-marked container in the lab. Biohazardous material doesn’t just leave the hospital in some nurses vehicle because she “wants to take it home”. I really thought that was illegal?
@FGuilt

Threatening to purposely infect your child would be defined as assault at the very least (something CPS COULD act on legally). I'm not sure about the legalities of removing potentially infectious materials from a hospital. But getting fired simply for advertising a willingness to do this is an obvious one. Don't know that there's a statute about "ownership" of saliva. But a civil action could be brought. getting sued for the threat to the hospital's reputation not to mention the effects to public health for sure, but I don't know about criminal charges. Its an interesting question in any case.

Right? Vaccine injury EXISTS. The government has a fund for it for a reason. I'm fully vaccinated, as are my children, but we did delay giving the MMR to my grandson until he was almost 5 because we have TWO young children severely adversely affected by that shot, within hours they were never the same again. Nobody wakes up on morning and decides they don't want to protect their children, its a LOT more than that. Maybe one day this guy will meet a vaccine injured child and at least take some time to try and understand the other side. Vaccines are a wonderful thing but there are genuine safety issues with the MMR. Japan banned it because of that, but then again they don't profit from vaccinations as we do. 99.9% of those with the measles get through it just fine. Suddenly in 2019 measles is a "death sentence". It was very wrong of the nurse to do what she did and she deserved to lose her job, but again I just wish people would try to understand why some people are afraid of that vaccination.

I am 61 years old, and I had Mumps in 1967. The infection lasted the last week of May through the first week of June. Now, more than 50 years later, I still remember those two weeks very clearly. I remember the pain. I remember the fever. I remember the isolation. I remember my second-grade class sending handmade get-well cards. I remember it vividly. Since then, there has been a vaccine for Mumps. in 2000, only 338 people contracted Mumps in the US. In 2019, 3,780 people contracted Mumps. All I ask is that our healthcare professionals look at and understand the data and make an informed decision and recommendation. In this one example, Where mumps cases dropped from 152,209 cases in 1968 to only 338 in 2000, there is a clear correlation that indicates the effectiveness of vaccines. Zdogg - I have to ask.... where the heck do these, anti-vax people come from?

Just saw this video......great job getting this story out there and the exposing the zealous anti-vaxers. I am an RN ( retired) who actually had chicken pox, along with measles and mumps when I was a young child. I clearly remember being so very sick...it was awful.....debilitating, painful and I remember crying so much because I couldn’t find relief from the intense itching and pain caused by the chicken pox and measles lesions. Thankfully, I was a healthy child and recovered without any complications but I remember other children who had terrible, lasting “poc-marks” on their faces from the lesions of chicken pox and measles and male sterility caused by complications of having mumps, diagnosed later in life. I was a child when the oral polio vaccine became available and we waited in line for hours to receive the vaccine ( this was not the first disastrous first wave of the untested polio vaccine). By the time I had my children, polio - and small pox; were no longer a threat, eradicated in the US, as with other childhood diseases. Now, we have a group of lemmings who are advancing future epidemics of current preventable diseases. How imbecilic! As an educated individual and nurse, my knowledge about the health risks of these diseases and the suffering a child experiences when afflicted, I had all my children vaccinated as recommended. I personally feel it is cruel to allow a child to suffer needlessly with an illness that can be prevented. Why would a parent put their child through that? It’s just plain cruel.

It's not right for anti-vaxxers to bully medical professionals but it's also not right for you to bully them. I also think it's problematic that no one can even discuss the potential risks associated with vaccines without being labeled an anti-vaxxer (even if they vaccinate) and attacked. It's become a religious topic rather than a scientific one. I understand the public safety aspect but that shouldn't prevent doctors from giving patients full informed consent. It also shouldn't result in doctors bullying patients. That is certainly not how you're going to change hearts and minds.

Christina totally agree. I live in a country where Drs are hunted down and have their licenses revoked for giving out anti vax advice. So know if you go to a Dr you may not be getting their true opinion. This discredits the entire medical profession when a patient believes that they could be getting advice “approved by the government “ but not necessarily by their G.P. Threatening medical professionals with having their registration revoked or worse jail time does nothing to support good medical advice if they disagree with the majority. In a scientific community we should always be ready to examine different points of view or new scientific research where it should be debated amongst professionals in a rational manner.
