Hey Dan. Sorry i had to jump out of the live the other night but my.little boy took ill and was rushed to hospital. In regards to your guitar ring its simply amazing however having said that im not going to buy one because im going to make one. If you look at my video (Laying my past to rest) you.ll see i cremate my late step dads guitar and give him it back although i do still have the strings and other parts such as the frets and tuning knobs. Sonthats what im going to do. Im going to make a ring just like yours from his old guitar strings because i was pissed about his decissions he made but he raised me and i still love him. Il keep you updated with the build.

For CA finishing you can get ring bushings on woodturners catalog. I personally use them on a pen mandrel and cut 20 1x1 squares of the blue scotts shop towels "very soft". You fold each of those in thirds as you go, run your lathe at 500 rpm and apply Thin CA as it's turning. Apply a drop or two to the shop towel piece and run it across the ring while spinning. A quick shot of activator on every coat should produce a nice even glass like finish with minimal wet sanding required if any. Sounds like a lot but after a bit it's super easy!

Joe Williams that’s just practice man (and I still stick my rings to sockets sometimes!). Just don’t use too much glue is all I can suggest really. You can try turning your own formers with a non stick material like ptfe/hdpe if you have a lathe. Tbh though it’s all just practice 👊🏽

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your video's. I have a question. I made my father a ring (sterling, wood and dolomite) and coated it in Alumilite (sp?) resin as my final step...even after my ca glue....well the resin started wearing off. So I sanded it off and set the ring aside to work on it later...well, I LOST IT. So now I have to start all over (crap). Anyway, do you feel like the end result of your ring is hard enough and durable with your CA coating? AND...can you tell me what brand and viscosity of CA glue you use as a final coating? Thanks soooooo much for your video's...they are very informative and entertaining!!!

You know if it is the same as the other makers it's still an awesome way to make one and that's an awesome ring you do a great job and it doesn't take a lot of tools you can take and make a spindle yourself by using a ring spindle put it on a drill for the nail on the other end with piece of wood and make your own little set up so you don't have to have a fancy lathe to do all this and that's what nice about this guys work cuz he uses files instead of lathe tools

Greetings from the US! 1st of all, love your videos. Hope to see more from you soon. 2nd, my friend and I are musicians and he is getting married soon and his wife asked me to make a ring for him. I'm kind of basing my design off of yours, but had a question about the abalone. The only ones I can find have an adhesive back on it and they're kind of thick. I also have one that's really thin but it's really fragile and breaks very easily. Do you have any recommendations on where I can get good abalone shell sheets? Thanks!

Decazi Rings I tried the uv gel from a nail salon on a pen that I made & cured it. It won't last more than a couple of weeks. I did find a product that lasts, I think, for years. I use Alumalite epoxy for some or my projects; but they also have a product called Alumi-UV. Also cured by uv light, but it is as hard as a construction hard hat. I don't recall how long they claim it will last. I tried it and it works. After seeing this video ( and one by Patrick Adair) I think I'll try making a ring.

These are my “high ticket” items and take a whole day to make and the prices reflect both my time and business expenses (materials/workshop rental/bills etc). I’ve also priced this way according to the market as I wouldn’t want to undercut and undervalue the craftsmanship of other jewellery designers on Etsy etc. I hope you still enjoyed watching the process though man! 👊🏽
