Sat in the 3rd row of the Green seats, behind home plate for WS G-2, I cut up a basketball into a Mr. Red "head helmet", with #44 on the back of it. Sitting in the stands smoking cigars, on my 21st birthday. EASILY top-5 days of my life. And the Nasty Boys were SOOOOO much fun!

Dodger fan here. This REDS team had the same type of grit, Blue collar approach as my Dodgers just 2 years before in '88, and when we beat Oakland in 5 games. Both the DODGERS and REDS had great Pitching and won playing great Defense and our fielding was sensational. Edge to the Reds in Fielding but pretty even with pitching. Though I must say while we both disposed of the A's sooner than we ever thought possible, your Reds were were really going to town slugging the bats. Great Reds team.

@MrVelosh As a Reds fan I think the 88 Dodgers had a team that as you said won 2-1, 3-2, 1-0 type games very well adding Gibsons fire along with the Bulldog carrying the staff it put you guys in a position for the upset after Gibsons thrilling HR. Now the 1990 Reds as you said we had good offense & we had the ace in Jose Rijo but the difference for us was clearly The Nasty Boys Dibble, Charlton, Myers cause games were over after the 5th inning when the Reds had the lead.

What makes this team different than most is heart and personality. So many of the players today seem so similar. On just one team the Reds had the Nasty Boys, Davis, Larkin, and Sabo. Talk about unique individuals! All season I do think Barry was the heartbeat of the team. I think he was the best all around short stop of his generation. Ozzie Smith may have been a better fielder, but when the game was on the line I would want Larkin at the plate. Larkin was a very good fielder in his own right as well.

So technically they've won one in my lifetime but i couldn't exactly enjoy it lol. We haven't been competitive since 2013. Who knows how long it will be till we get back to the playoffs. 2012 was our best chance at a championship recently and we blew a 2-0 lead over the giants in a 5 game series with the last 3 games at home. I went to those three games. Game 5 I just got wasted cuz i couldn't believe be blew that series. The giants went on to win it all.

Only five teams have completed wire-to-wire seasons in Major League Baseball, occupying top position of the standings for every day of their season and winning the World Series: the 1927 New York Yankees, 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers, 1984 Detroit Tigers, 1990 Cincinnati Reds and the 2005 Chicago White Sox. Last week, I got the chance to meet Eric Davis, and even though I am a Phillies fan, I remember really enjoying that 1990 postseason - especially the World Series (because I didn't like the A's). He was one of the first guys to get me to take an interest in baseball from somewhere other than the 215 area code.

Awesome video. Starts off with Randy Myers making a strong, bold statement about what the Reds need to do in order to win and be in 1st place. The narrator messed up, tho, stating the Reds first 8-games were on the road. The Cincinnati REDS ALWAYS start the season at home as the FIRST team in professional baseball (or sports for that matter). Then we get a glimpse of THE most important person on the Reds club...one of only two that was here in 70's and for all THREE World Series Championships.

My 1990 Redlegs had what is now referred to as "swag" You can now order this entire video on DVD through the Reds internet store or gift shop at the Reds Hall Of Fame. I just wish my main man Eric Keith Davis was able to enjoy that plane ride home and the celebration. He was still in the hospital in Oakland.

Dodger fan here. I personally never watched the post-season if the Dodgers didn't make it to the playoffs. But I have to admit, there was something very special about the Reds in the 1990 season. I was 13 and remember watching every game of the NLCS and rooting for the Reds. They had such a great team and was amazed at how they beat the Pirates (w/Bonds, Bonilla, VanSlyke, etc.). I was rooting for them again during every game of the WS. Even though the As were good, I always felt Canseco and McGuire were so overrated and always failed during the post-season. The Reds definitely deserved to win the WS and did an AMAZING JOB! Even thought I am not a Reds fan, I will never forget this incredible 1990's team.

Sweet Lou Piniella did a terrific job managing this club. Great pitching with Jose Rijo as their ace and with the Nasty Boys Norm Charlton, Rob Dibble and Myers, this team was tough to beat, especially when got clutch contributions from Paul O'Neill, Barry Larkin, Chris Sabo, and Mariano Duncan.

The Reds started 32-12 and then played .500 baseball the rest of the way finishing 91-71. They sure were built for the playoffs as their superb bullpen gave up just 1 earned run in 31 1/3 innings in the postseason.

Does anyone in Cincinnati remember Sabo's old Ford Escort? I think it was yellow? Here's a young man making millions driving an OLDER model Ford Escort. I could just see the parking lot...ferraris, lamboroghinis, mercedes-benzs, and Sabo's Escort. Watching this I cannot help but feel sad. As happy as I was, I feel horrible for Eric The Red Davis not being able to be there in this massive life moment with his teammates. I really wish they had one another one with ED - one of my all-time favorite Reds.

He had a great first half in 90 , but was below average for the rest of his career. It's a shame he couldn't maintain that level of performance , the Reds could have made the playoffs in 92 or won in 95 with a first half of 90 Jack performance.

I remember that team. I started watching and listening to baseball the year before. That 1990 squad was Pete Rose’s team who helped and assembled the greatest Reds team since the Big Red Machine. The only two teams I was worried about playing were the SF Giants and the Pirates. And Marge Schott hit a row deal from the media. Yeah, she said some crazy things yet she was the nicest and most caring lady I ever met. I met her at the Sunoco on Kenwood where she paid for my gas and another fellow I was working with at the time. She was buying cigarettes and decided to help some working folk like us to get home that night as we were paying for gas with quarters. She was long gone before we figured out who had paid for our gas. Some racist. lol. But of course the national media won’t tell you about the countless acts of kindness she performed with the locals or the donations she made to Children’s hospital. None of it ever made the news.

I knew this team had what it took to win it all when Norm Charlton ran over Mike Socia to score from 1st. That was a special moment. One I will ALWAYS remember! The 1990 Reds were a special group. From Larkin, Davis, O'Neil, right down to to Billy Bates.

I still despise Tony la russa. Being 26 I've always known him as the manager of the cardinals(the team I hate more than anyone) but it makes me happy to know that in my first month of life on this planet my beloved reds swept a team led by him and had two juiced up freaks in McGwire and Conseco. Makes me feel pretty good.

What a team these guys were-the bullpen was so good and every player on this team made key plays all season long-Braggs catch was one of the best plays in Reds history and Rijo was just the workhouse you need to win championships-we paid the Pirates back for 1979!!Bob Welch won 27 games that year and Dave Stewart was awesome that year-we beat the two best pitchers in baseball back to back-Oakland were the defending champions and had won 10 straight playoff games before we swept them 4-0!!This team was one for the ages!!The MVP of this team was the whole team they were a team in every sense of the word
