My grandmother remembers this Pakistan Television telecast in 1970s, She cried watching this video she was young at the time.

Khusro didn’t convert, he was born into Sunni Islam

Amir Khusro's father was from Uzbekistan and his mother was a native Indian. Both were Muslim. His mother was from a muslim rajput family.
