I have one ! I used it with a nikon D300 set to full manual on a tripod. I trusted the ikon meter and WOW! What a photo. It's awesome for short to medium range landscapes. Thanks for posting your video

Bob, I am glad someone is knowledgeable and informed to pronounce Bakelite correctly. Leo Baekeland, Belgian-American Chemist, would have appreciated your respect of his invention. I recently acquired one of these light meters including the chain and ring. I am very impressed with it. I appreciate how you demonstrated how the incident light hood snaps into recess of the honey-comb lens. I did not understand how the incident light hood worked in spite of carefully reading the manual. Thank you for posting this informative video.

My father bought this in Germany in the late fifties with his Rolleiflex 4x4. It feels and looks like a jewel box

I purchased one of these on eBay, almost exact same condition. I did so because my dad had one of these and an Zeiss Ikonta 522/24 camera when I was growing up. I inherited the non-working camera but I am not sure what happened to the light meter. My dad gave me above of photography, so I ended up buying a working Zeiss Ikonta 522/24 camera and this camera on eBay. I am close to finishing my first roll of file with it. I went out over the weekend and shot my Nikon Z6 and for every shot I did with the Z6, I took a similar shot using the Ikonta and light meter. They were generally the same in terms of suggested exposure speed and aperture. Looking forward to seeing the results from a ~70 year old camera!

+solben61 It seems to - I briefly compared it to another light meter. I know that the selenium meters do get more inaccurate over time. I haven't done a full comparison in different lighting conditions and haven't done a shoot with it. I'll do that and update soon.

+solben61 I tested it against a new Sekonic meter, and it's pretty close in all different light situations - within a half stop or so...

thanks for your answer. In the meantime I have started using an app, MyLightmeter Pro, and I am pretty satisfied with it, it measures both incident and reflected light and can do a lot of other stuff. It maybe not as accurate as the real thing, but it is pretty decent and a seriously well designed app, I'll give it a try for a period ..... :)

Bob, Did you have to readjust the zero for your meter before you used it? Adjustment from the manual seemed very simple.
