Since 2004 I dreamed of beating TSA's time in ALTTP. At the beginning I wasn't even near to beat him, which pushed me to create a new category: 100%.
A couple of years passed, the route had been maximized in the TAS and it permitted me to create a segmented run of ALTTP... even though all I was doing was create a new category.
I decided it was finally the time to beat TSA's run, after 5 years and 4 different runs, 3 from TSA. It took a while, it took hours and patience from both me and my girlfriend who watched me swear at the game every evening except one.
You can now watch part of this evening by looking up to this run.
Released in April 1992, A Link to the Past was the third game in the Zelda series and the only one to be made for Super Nintendo. Link goes on a quest that spans two worlds in an effort to restore the seal of the 7 wise men, recently broken by the mysterious wizard Agahnim. The game was re-released for GBA in December 2002, featuring faster text scrolling, Link screaming, a redone Ice Palace puzzle, and a link with the included game, "The Four Swords". This use to be my favorite game. I remember when this game first came out. I went and brought a TV set for my apartment and then went to Toys R Us and got a Super Nintendo. I did not know much about video games at the time and saw the Zelda A Link to the past box and thought the game would be cool to play so I got it. I plugged in my Super Nintendo and slid in the cartridge and became instantly hooked to the game. It will always be my favorite game due to the unforgettable music, puzzles and action. I've viewed and reviewed this youtube video multiple times and never grow tired of seeing it again and again.

This game was a big part of my childhood this Mystical Quest & Donkey Kong Super Nintendo was & still better than any Ps3 & Ps4 in my opinion screw the so called better graphics to me the best it got was Ps1 and sup Nintendo graphics is greatly undermined people don't truly appreciate the graphics and the journey of games like Zelda it is & was a legend & will forever be the best to me btw thanks for uploading this.

Great skills WAK, especially the use of intentionally getting hurt by an enemy/bomb or using the bounce caused by hitting a wall to bounce yourself over an obstacle as a shortcut. Very clever!

The main thing I got from this was that my assumption that the Caterpillar was the hardest boss in the game was correct all those years ago.

I never did understand why you couldn't call your bird in the dark world but at the end of agnahim's castle he is called. What a cop out. It's like lord of the rings calling in those Eagles.

Wow. That trick in Turtle Rock, in the room where you have to light the lamps on th moving platform, always pisses me off. That trick with the hookshot is pure genius.

Coincidentally, I watched this spped run mainly to see if the Ice Palace can be beaten without hookshot. I read about that 1:00:15 trick and now I could see it in action, confirming that it can be beaten without hookshot.

No, I'm not. I am thinking about the SNES game, A Link to the Past, whereas you can glitch through the wall after saving zelda from the ball and chain boss after save & quit while jumping off a ledge with Zelda following you. You can then freely move throughout the castle through the walls, and if you go right, then up past the throne room, you enter the triforce room where the credit's roll. It's pretty crazy, actually. I screwed around and found the flame rod room and the Moth boss.

I beat the first dungeon before the rain stopped using the walk under floor glitch. Now whenever I try to get to the castle, I'm stopped by two guards and my character spazzes out. What do I do?

I get the mask off the dark world first dungeon boss by hitting once with a hammer and then 1-2 bombs. Seems like it would be quicker

I didn't watch this fully, but is this a glitch free run? I know of a glitch you can literally skip to the triforce at the beginning of the game while Zelda is following.

Speed runs are great, but I think 100% completion is a more exciting achievement.

I didn't knock speed runs in any way, just said that I think putting in the time to accomplish 100% is more of an achievement. There are some games that take months and months to do this, some never get done because there is just way too much to do (ie FF series).

I can't tell if you're implying I'm incompetent or you simply don't believe me. This trick is actually not difficult to do, buit ONCE I performed the glitch before leaving the bed...I WISH I knew how, it only happened once. The community must experiment! Unless this is old news.

That is using Exploration Glitch, which is likely not permitted in the category run. There are multiple categories, and EG is one of them, but this run is likely Any% no Major Glitches (Any%, no OOB, no savewarps, no deathwarps, no Yuzu Bottle Adventure) As for beating the game in 5 minutes using EG, even that's slow. Fastest times are under a minute and a half there. It's not a very challenging run, it's relatively boring.

+Alex Palmer Thank you Alex I know bombs are needed, but I've never been able to find them that early in the game. And once you leave the area you can't go back.

+Michael Lords Sorry, didn't mean to sound like a smartass. You can actually get bombs early on: If you open the chest in Link's House, right after his uncle leaves, it will contain the lantern, and the chest next to Zelda at 3:40 will have bombs in it instead of the lantern.Even if you don't get bombs, you can return to that level by backtracking from Sanctuary (you can open the path yourself by moving that structure at 6:30. From there, you can make your way back, and take that wall apart with bombs or by running into it.

+Michael Lords You can go back by moving the tombstone at the left-upper corner of the graveyard. You don't even need bombs, but you do need the Pegasus Boots; you can just dash against the wall. You also need the Power Glove to pick up the stones and move the tombstone.
