The destruction of the previous Hyrule prior to Rauru is a good explanation for why none of the various dungeon items from the previous games (except the Master Sword) appear in the era of the wild. They were all destroyed in the second Era of Chaos between the convergence and the second founding. Even the various magic spells were lost and forgotten, which is why you can’t learn _Jump_ or _Din’s Fire_ in the Wild Era. The knowledge is gone, and unless someone finds it written down somewhere, it’s gone for good. There’s precedent for this in real life. A lot of ancient civilizations are now extinct because they only had an oral tradition and the line was broken at some point.

Thats why I thought that the Depths are actually really ancient Hyrule, with the Hero statues we find in Typhlo ruins and the same layout as the surface world. A time where Ancient Hyrule was wiped completely, and maybe the Triforce was used to restore Hyrule to begin anew, when Rauru descended from the skies and established the kingdom once again. So all the monsters and everything was buried, similar to Wind Waker's flooding event. It would also explain the poes in the Depths. There was 2 poes at a location where a Heart was shaped in the water, alluding to lovers hanging out and with the clusters of poes around the Depths, I think they were ancient Hyrule people who went through the suddent destruction of the Depths aka Ancient Hyrule, and they just stayed where they got killed.

The calamity happens in the future. The past with Sonia exists, because every time something disastrous happens, like Zelda dies, she pulls that part of the future away and into her "time" to delay the calamity. Which is exactly the reason WHY Sonia's time follows through INTO "the future", because this time's elements were inserted there. Without Sonia's power, the past ould just be another realm unrelated to the BotW/ totK world. And that's because it is Scred Realm. Sage Rauru did this same thing, it's ALWAYS been the mechanic by which Zelda timeline works, there's no convergence any more than what always was but people are treating the most recent game with myopia and bias to force into it a time travel explanation copy-pasted from MCU and Skyrim, when if it is copied from ANYWHERE then it's form Back to the Future. The green effect is accompanied with backwards music because this world FLOWS backwards, that's how Ganondorf was sealed, he was reversed next the passage of time. Similarly gold light of Stasis ALIGNS objects with the passage of time, they don't stop, they just start moving at the same speed as the world moves. Upheaval happens because the pressure of slamming this new world ONTO the Depths is reversed. That's what the blue Sheikah arrows DO, it's a refined form of the Green energy that leaves behind the spillover of Gloom and Malice, like electricity to enriched and depleted uranium with their radiation. IT's a mechanisitc explanation on how Nintendo builds gameplay to begin with, like restoring save-states across TIME in the TIMELINE of your play. And it's inspired by the 1982 TopCraft Japanese-animated film version of The Flight of Dragons, that particularly infuenced Twilight Princess and TotK, and is without a doubt the origin point where "Zelda was meant to be a sci-fi story". The UFO concept art was probably going to follow along the limestone explanation of dragon flight, transferred into Sheikah tech.

Something I've been thinking on as of late, given ToTK would have to happen after the split for it to make any sense, and how little the Triforce appears in BoTW and ToTK (never a physical object, and only really present in symbolism and a showing on the back of Zelda's hand for the briefest of moments), I'm wondering if there was a cataclysmic event where the Triforce of the Old Hyrule was lost or the connection to it and the sacred realm weakened or severed somehow, leading to the overall downfall of the Kingdom. We saw in A Link Between Worlds with Lorule that losing the Triforce directly led to the degradation and decline of Lorule, so maybe something similar happened to the Hyrule of the split timelines, each timeline losing connection to the Triforce and collapsing, to be refounded with the Zonai in their distant future. Definitely plenty of holes in this theory tho
@Stormrunner1981
@Stormrunner1981 9 ай бұрын
In similar vein, I do think the timeline split could have caused the desegregation of Hyrule. And somewhere the goddesses or people decided to wish the triforce into the royal bloodline (hence being on Zelda's hand when she does any light based magic) - which may have converged the timelines. It would explain the Master Sword being lost across all timelines too - including downfall - where they know where it lies..could have disappeared.
@javiervasquez625
@javiervasquez625 9 ай бұрын
@@Stormrunner1981 There is merit to this theory especially when you consider the fact that the Triforce itself was the cause for all of the violence and suffering which has constantly destroyed Hyrule multiple times across the timeline for "someone" (could be the Golden Goddesses or even the Royal Family) to decide hiding the Triforce within Hylia's bloodline so that events from past games will _never_ happen again ensuring a better future for the new kingdom of Hyrule. As we see in Tears of the Kingdom Ganondorf NEVER claims the Triforce and so he never triggers the same events which lead to the timesplit in Ocarina of Time. No Triforce = no timesplits = better future

I'm very much in favor of a merging of the timeline. In fact, I think it would make sense that there are more and more breaks than we are ever "officially" made aware of, and when the timeline fractures too much, eventually Hyrule degrades and disappears, only to remerge either after a massive alteration of its history through time manipulation, or through a natural ebb and flow as dictated by the power of the triforce. It means basically anything is possible and the future of the franchise looks brighter than ever. It's been made very clear that time manipulation is very much entwined with the existence of Hyrule from the start, so time manipulation in the context of a Zelda game can't create paradoxes because it's built into the way Hyrule functions, fundamentally. Like a law of physics, in a way. So, even when a timeline is adjusted because of an event in the distant future (or the distance past), the history that happened isn't erased, it's just fractured apart, and the land itself (and by extension, perhaps the triforce itself) holds the memories of everything that ever happened. This ultimately means that the longer Hyrule exists cyclically, the richer its history becomes. Given that the original idea of the triforce was that they are basically highly advanced computer chips, it would kind of make sense, in my opinion. Here's to a future Zelda title where we get to take part in the highly technologically advanced period in its history.. Maybe they'll take some of the early sketch ideas for BotW and refresh them for a new, futuristic title.
@TheSwordsman100

While I'm not fond of the futuristic stuff, I do agree with everything else. I think the first "dragon break" we see is in Majora's Mask as if you do everything the the timelines are merged somehow to form the game's happiest, if a tad bittersweet, ending. (with the only hint on how being the mysterious goddess of time who I suspect to be Hylia/Zelda herself, due to the Master Sword being one of keys along with Ocarina of Time for controlling time and some stuff we see in Skyward Sword)

BOTK and TOTK are one game split into two parts BOTW-part 1-prequel for new timeline TOTK-part 2-Beginning of new timeline It should be noted here that when Zelda is transported to ancient Hyrule via the secret stone a fixed point in time would be created because of her actions in the past forming the sages and becoming the Light Dragon Thus at the end of TOTK when Zelda says “I’m home” While it is true that they are in Hyrule I posit that they are in a very different Hyrule than they remember The Champion timeline is now a divergent timeline because of her interference As she was never there to assist in forming the champions or there to help decipher the Sheikah tech we saw in BOTW🤔

This has been my theory from the start, tbh. There is NO other explanation for all the references to previous games across all three timelines, the existence of the Rito AND Gerudo during the Founding Era, and TotK Hyrule's geography in the Founding Era still looks similar enough to how it looks in BotW/present-day TotK that we can pick out landmarks in the flashback scenes. There's no way the landscape changed so dramatically between TotK's Founding Era and BotW that all the rest of the games are bookended by two Hyrules with near-identical geography, even fantasy plate tectonics don't work that way

I don't think it's a reboot. I'm guessing that in Tears of the Kingdom, Zelda is sent to the time described in Skyward Sword's prolog. Fujibayashi said that the history was destroyed. This would make sense, if not for the fact that the prologue of Skyward Sword isn't actually consistent at all with the events described in Tears of the Kingdom. Also, it absolutely is a reboot. The developers saying "the previous Hyrules had all long been destroyed before this new other, completely unrelated Hyrule was founded by a civilization with no relationship to any previous civilization" is a textbook example of what a soft reboot is.

I very much agree with the idea of a timeline merge, what caused it is a million dollar question but there's quite a bit of evidence to suggest there was. A good analogy I could give is that if you look at an apocolyptic wasteland with mutated creatures and radiation its safe to assume a nuclear bomb was dropped, the backstory as to why and how this bomb was dropped is unknown, but you can see the effects of it.

I don’t know if I’m on board with the merged / converging timeline idea. I want to be on board but I just can’t see a satisfactory explanation. The reason why the timeline split happened, was due to a time travel theory where in every event, it creates an alternate timeline / parallel universe. But to have 1 timeline be separated into 3 separate timelines, and somehow unify into 1 would break every idea of time travel. If the idea of a converging timeline were to have some solid basis, it would be better if the timelines were more akin to dimensions / worlds. That way, someone in one dimension (timeline) can discover the others. And could possibly lead to an event where the dimensions (timelines) can merge into one. Should a Zelda game do that, then it would be much easier to swallow. Because as long as the franchise continues, fans will still debate where games go on the timeline even in their 80’s.

An example being that a lot of people believed that Ganon kept getting reincarnated, but in reality there was just 1 Ganon (FSA is the exception). It took people playing Smash Ultimate with the Palutena Guidance, for a majority of the people to believe there was only 1 Ganon.

I had a similar idea to that except possibly the Zonai were the ones who made the wish. The Zonai have been shown to be pretty intelligent and were able to make some advanced tech. If they had evolved in one timeline and advanced to the point of knowing how to time travel and of Demise's curse (and seeing that it persisted into multiple timelines), they may have wished to combine all the timelines in some kind of event to try and make it easier to get rid of Demise all at once. Knowing of the butterfly effect they may have known that they wouldn't want to change the past because it could result in the Zonai not evolving into existence at all, so the best they could do was to merge all the timelines so that neither race would be destroyed. As for the twili, not sure how that works. They may still exist in their separate realms, it's just that no one has been able to access them yet. The wish might've been so great that it exhausted the Triforce or alternatively they saw it as too great of a risk and had it sealed away elsewhere or weakened perhaps.

It could also have been an act from _Golden Goddesses_ which converged the timelines together as their way to "restart" the timeline from zero with no timesplit shenanigans whatsoever (a dragonbreak basically). Considering that the 3 original timelines where all representative of the 3 Golden Goddesses it makes sense that they would have the power to "fuse them" as part of a divine plan to restart the kingdom this time by the Zonai.

I have no issue with a convergence, but if we get the same map a fourth time (BotW, TotK surface, TotK depths), I'm gonna lose it. And a bit more effort into a linear story would be good. I watched the dragons tears in random order, some of them really early into the game and knew therefore pretty early on about zeldas sacrifice. This is a mess. Building stuff and open world is... cool, I guess, and I understand the new gemeration's attention span is shorter than a fly's short term memory, but still. Work a bit more of story into future games and let those other people build stuff, while people like me enjoy story.

We have seen a convergence before. At the end of Skyward Sword, Link left the Master Sword in the past of a timeline where Demise was killed (Zelda left a bracelet in that past too). But when they return to their future where Demise was not killed in the past but rather in the present, the Master Sword Link left in the alternate past is found in this present (same with Zelda’s bracelet). The Great Deku Tree in OoT says the Golden Goddess Nayru created Law. I believe that includes both the laws of morality and the laws of reality, including Time. The 1st Temple Of Time is found in the Lanayru province where TimeShift stone is mined. The time-traveling Oracle Ages is named after Nayru. All the evidence points to Nayru being the Goddess of Time, not Hylia. When the 3 Golden Goddesses created Hylia, I believe they gave her some abilities in all of their elements: Din: power, fire, earth, sand, mountains, spirit, seasons Nayru: wisdom, water, ice, love, law, time Farore: courage, wind, forest, life I am uncertain about the elements of light, shadow, & lightning. But regardless…time! I believe when Link & Zelda returned from the altered past to their present, Nayru converged those 2 timelines, so the Master Sword & Bracelet they left in past were there in the present (perhaps also meaning there were 2 swords; the Master Sword in the pedestal in the Temple, & the Goddess Sword in the Statue… could that extra Goddess Sword have been turned into the original Picori Blade & eventually the Four Sword? That’s my theory). But I believe Nayru did something different leading to BotW. I don’t think this is a convergence of the 3 timelines together, but rather a Healing of each individual timeline separately. I believe Nayru healed each timeline until they all resembled each other, even tho they have different histories. I believe many of the events we witness in each timeline also happened in the other timelines, tho perhaps in slightly different ways. I believe all 3 timelines had floods explaining the salt in BotW. (while combining the maps of SS & TAoL suggests Hyrule is a peninsula, the Hyrule in 4SA is an island! Meaning the water level was much higher! Perhaps because of a flood?) I believe all 3 timelines had an interaction with the Twilight Realm. Ultimately, I believe there are 3 BotW’s & TotK’s, 1 far after the last game in each of the 3 timelines. And I agree that Rauru & Sonia refounded Hyrule after the end of the previous kingdom. As far as certain races being nowhere to be seen in certain timelines, Hyrule is big enough that there are going to be peoples & places we don’t see in certain games. Death Mountain is absent in TMC. Does that mean Mt. Eldin sank into the ocean after SS, then rose up again as Death Mountain before OoT? No. We simply did not see it. That does not mean it doesn’t exist. The map in TAoL is so big that Holodrum, Labrynna, & Hytopia could all be there just called by different names. I believe the area of both Kasuto Towns & Three-Eye Rock is Holodrum. I believe the area of The King’s Tomb & Mido Town & the Island Palace is Labrynna. I believe the area of the North Castle is Hytopia (and also where New Hyrule was founded in ST). There’s a lot of places for races to migrate between games.

Subrosia lies beneath Holodrum in Oracle of Seasons and yet the Subrosians who live there are nowhere to be found in TAoL's Hyrule for Holodrum to have been "absorbed" into Hyrule alongside Labrynna at some point in the past. Add to that the complete omission of the 2 Maku Trees, the lizard-like Tokay people from Crescent Island and the instruction manuals for both Oracle games stating Holodrum and Labrynna to be _far away lands_ from Hyrule and this scenario becomes impossible. That said i like the rest of your theory.

@@javiervasquez625 Link simply does not go down far enough in TAoL to find Subrosia, and the Subrosians seem to prefer their secrecy anyway. We saw the Great Deku Tree die in OoT. Maku Trees can die too. Also no matter which timeline we place BotW, there is at least 1 game with no sightings of any Deku Trees before BotW, yet there he is in BotW. again, just because we don't see a race or being in a game, that doesn't mean they don't exist at that point in time. as far as the Tokay are concerned... ...at best, Link is focused on his mission to complete the Triforce to awaken Zelda, and that mission simply does not take him to any Tokay. ...at worst... extinction is possible. "far away" is relative. Hyrule in BotW/TotK is massive, yet all that space only takes the tiny south west corner of TAoL map. in no other game do we see a version of Hyrule that includes Death Mountain and also lands beyond at the same time, only TAoL. @@AncientSkullKid Yet the Subrosians DO VISIT THE SURFACE as seen with Rosa who freely travels back and forth between the overworld and underworld to gossip with the denizens of both realms. Aside from Rosa we also have the Subrosian Dancers who in a Linked Mode will TRAVEL TO LABRYNNA to become the new dancers of the Goron Dancing Minigame in Rolling Ridge pretty much confirming their existence to the entire world for them to suddenly retreat back to Subrosia by the events of the original The Legend of Zelda. Even though the Deku Tree is able to die that doesn't mean their _children_ won't continue the cycle of replacing the previous Deku Tree as seen in Ocarina of Time, The Wind Waker and later the Wild duology. Taking into account Aonuma's words regarding the Era of the Wild taking place after _all_ the timelines that pretty much confirms that the Deku Tree from the Downfall Timeline is *still alive* as of the original The Legend of Zelda on the NES and we simply didn't see him anywhere in The Adventure of Link due to the simple fact that Aonuma and co. had yet concieved of the character for him to have appeared in the early NES games. That you deduced the Deku Tree's _permanent_ passing in the Downfall Timeline due to his omission in the FIRST GAMES in the series is a lacking conclusion given what we know regarding the Era of the Wild thanks to Aonuma's words. ¿So your one and only explanation for the Tokay's disappearance in the NES games is their apparent extinction...? Like with the Deku Tree i find this conclusion to be lacking given the simple fact that Nintendo had yet _introduced_ the Tokay into the Lore for anyone to argue their extinction as a random explanation for why they don't appear in the NES Era. Just because we don't _see_ a race appear in later games doesn't mean they became extinct. Actually we _do_ see other Hyrules which happen to be connected to lands _outside_ it in other games as per Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess having Gerudo Desert absorbed into the kingdom after the Gerudo War ended following Ganondorf's imprisonment inside the Twilight Realm. That said i don't see why the same would apply with TAoL considering the lack of any _confirmation_ from either the instruction manuals, Lore books like Hyrule Historia or even developer commentaries that state as much. I mean the Historia refers to the NES Hyrule as a "shrinking kingdom" implying it's been _loosing_ it's land to other kingdoms/nations ever since Ocarina of Time dismissing this part of your theory from being plausible without contradicting what the Hyrule Historia says. I simply can't accept this scenario if that means going against the Historia which is why i won't agree with this part of your conclusion. I've seen this comparisons before and i have an explanation for it: ¿Do you note how similar Holodrum looks to the original Hyrule from Zelda 1? The reason it looks similar is because originally Nintendo had planned to make a _remake_ of the original The Legend of Zelda on the NES for the Game Boy Color before they eventually decided to give up the idea in favor of 3 brand new games to represent the Triforce and the 3 Golden Goddesses. Oracle of Seasons was originally intended to be that remake which is why the worldmap, dungeon bosses (recall Aquamentus, Dodongo, Manhandla, Digdogger, Gleeok, etc.?) and hidden Oldmen all REFERENCE Zelda 1 as "leftovers" from the remake it was supposed to be. Hence the maps look so similar to eachother due to Nintendo's plan to remake og Zelda. Like i said above i like most of your theory but this part is lacking given it's disregard to the established Lore as revealed throughout the series's history.

@@javiervasquez625 "shrinking kingdom" then the immediate sequel shows the largest Hyrule we've ever seen. So the kingdom was shrinking after having first expanded well past Death Mountain. again, size is relative. The Zeldaverse is much smaller than most people think it is. again, you proved my point about the Deku Tree; certainly there is a Deku Tree alive during TLoZ, even tho we don't see it (and in fact one of the dungeons seems to be inside a dead Deku Tree), because there is a Deku Tree later in BotW. My point being...the absence of a race or being in any given game is not evidence against that game being set in the same general location where we have seen those races or beings in the past. We don't see a Deku Tree in Hyrule in ALttP or TLoZ, yet we see one in BotW. the lack of Deku Trees is not evidence against ALttP or TLoZ being set in Hyrule. Therefore the lack of Tokay or Subrosians is not evidence against Holodrum & Labrynna being part of TAoL map. Where are the Gerudo in TWW? Yet after the Deku Trees drain the Great Sea, there the Gerudo are in BotW. yeah, a few Subrosians visit the surface. but why did their ancestors retreat so far deep underground in the first place? danger? is it less dangerous for them on the surface now? will it remain safe for them? I find it very likely that whatever caused their ancestors to retreat underground in the past will also cause them to re-retreat back underground in the future. Holodrum's map does not look like TLoZ map. Sure, Mountains to the north and Ocean to the south, but that's true of most Zelda maps, including New Hyrule in ST, which (just like Holodrum) is not the same location as the usual Death Mountain area. The lake in Holodrum is in the North East, not where it is in Hyrule in TLoZ. your primary point and evidence is "lack of confirmation" that the 2 kingdoms were absorbed into Hyrule (which is of course what makes it a theory, otherwise the idea itself would be lore, not theory). but I will simply counter with "lack of confirmation" that the 2 kingdoms were NOT absorbed into Hyrule.

@@AncientSkullKid YOU say the Hyrule from Adventure of Link is the "largest Hyrule we've seen" yet that does NOT make it *FACT* as Nintendo has never _confirmed_ that to be the case. It's perfectly plausible (and likely) that this "gigantic kingdom" you insist TAoL's Hyrule to be is no more bigger than the Hyrule from A Link to the Past due to the _graphical limititations_ of both games allowing Nintendo to redesign Hyrule as either a larger or smaller kingdom based on the graphical limitations of the NES and SNES (as in do you imagine A Link to the Past having the graphical capability and memory to have a Hyrule of the scale of TAoL?). You're taking a LITERAL INTERPRETATION of the kingdom's geographical size as evidence of something which had nothing to do with the Lore or narrative but the graphical engine limitations of the later consoles for Nintendo to show future Hyrule as big in size as the one from the NES games. The Zeldaverse is actually quite _larger_ than most people think it is if the Sacred Realm, Koholint Island, Termina, the Minish Realm, the Twilight Realm, the World of the Ocean King, the Land of the Lokomos, Lorule and Hytopia are anything to go by. I mean the Land of the Lokomos is itself stated to lie _far away_ from Old Hyrule making it very clear that the Zelda world goes beyond the confines of Hyrule with several civilizations which have nothing to do with this one specific realm among the many which lie elsewhere in far away regions. I mean in The Wind Waker we have the Inuit-like Zunari outright stating he comes from a "cold and far away land" (Alaska?) 100% confirming there are many continents and landmasses which do not lie anywhere near Hyrule. I'm confused here. ¿Didn't you say the Deku Tree died off in the Downfall Timeline as an explanation for his omission in the later NES games? If that is not what you are trying to say i would much appreciate if you could explain exactly what your original argument is and how it's supposed to counter what i stated regarding lack of evidence not being evidence of absence. That aside i do NOT understand the argument that even though 2 _native_ races from Holodrum and Labrynna aren't present in TAoL that still allows this 2 lands to have been absorbed into Hyrule just like that with no *explanation* given. I mean considering what i said regarding the Deku Tree's _children_ still been around by Breath of the Wild and onwards we have to wonder why wouldn't the 2 Maku Trees ALSO appear in Breath of the Wild after Holodrum and Labrynna were both swallowed into Hyrule to hang around alongside the Deku Tree. ¿What of the 3 Oracles Din, Nayru and Farore who all 3 lived IN Holodrum and Labrynna to suddenly disappear in Zelda 1 and TAoL and not return in the Era of the Wild...? The argument you propose flatly ignores all this details surrounding the Maku Tress and the 3 Oracles making this an implausible conclusion. ¿When and where has it ever been said that the Subrosians "retreated underground"...? As i understand it the Subrosians have ALWAYS lived underground very similar to the Mogmas from Skyward Sword so i do not understand how you reached that conclusion based on information which is _nowhere_ to be found in any Zelda game in the series. Again just because we don't _see_ them in the NES games doesn't mean they aren't living in the surface _elsewhere_ and we simply didn't see them. Holodrum's map actually looks a LOT like Zelda 1's if you place the 2 side by side and compare their main landmarks together: you get Goron Mountain to the North (like Death Mountain), a graveyard to the lower West (like the one in Zelda 1), a desert to the East and of course the first dungeon in the game "Gnarled Root" which like the first dungeon in Zelda 1 also takes place INSIDE A TREE (¿Are you going to tell me that is also a dead Deku Tree?). You really need to play Oracle of Seasons for most of the locations, landmarks and _dungeons_ in that game are taken straight from Zelda 1's Hyrule as a reference to the game. Your primary point regarding Holodrum and Labrynna having been absorbed by NES Hyrule is lacking given the many races, locations and landmarks which are nowhere to be found in the early titles due to Nintendo having yet CREATED them in the first place. Taking a "literalist approach" to the Lore as in "they aren't around ergo they are hiding underground!" is lacking in nature given it's dismissal of Zelda's early days before all this other Realms and races were introduced into the series. I will repeat what i said before: _"absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence"._ Just because we don't see Subrosians and Tokays in Zelda 1 and 2's Hyrule shouldn't be an argument that Holodrum and Labrynna were absorbed into the kingdom given the lack of any _explanation_ for their omission aside from a literal interpretation of the NES's map compared to the ones seen in later titles.

One thing we can be for sure is that Zelda has either a Triforce piece or the whole Triforce on her right hand. One of the thing's I've been thinking of is what if the converge timeline BotW and TotK had been slowly building hidden behind each time line, certain object's and/or land mark's had been moved and changed. Example is Pinnacle Rock how did it move from Death Mountain to border Gerudo Desert? Or how the Biggest Goddess Statue had been moved from it's place in Faron to border the Hebra area? It looked to me that BotW's and TotK's map may of been pieced together using each timeline to soon form. Think of it as either a Forgotten timeline that needed to be rebuilt to a Shadow timeline where it had been slowly building and once it had been completed it had it's visitors. Rito, Zora, Goron, Zonai, and Hyrulian. Rito and Zora shouldn't co-exist but they do since Rito are supposed to be the evolved form of the Zora in order to thrive on land. There were other race's that could of been there, the Mogmen, the human's (Those with round ear's like the one's you see in Twilight Princess.), and the Ooccoo. Rauru had no clue where or who had the Master Sword as well as Sonia, there was suppose to be a Swordsmen when Rauru and Sonia were King and Queen but there wasn't one and honestly seeing Rauru seal Ganon made me see something the rune's that appear when fusing something to the Master Sword are almost Identical to the one's you see coming out of Ganon when Rauru seal's him, and it got me thinking... What if Rauru was supposed to be that Swordsmen but didn't or couldn't hear the calling? Maybe he did and just thought they were his mind playing trick's or whisper's of nothing so he ignored it, I'm sure the Master Sword/Fi would of called out to someone during that time to help stop Ganon but no one appeared, and soon the one who was supposed to died by sealing Ganon... It'd be a bit crazy but seeing how Rauru is he could of been the one who made the mistake of not listening to the Master Sword and imagine his Light Magic being poured into the blade to once and finally be rid of Ganon.

Pinnacle Rock is a landmark which has constantly reappeared across several games in the series as a simple _reference_ with no meaning or reason aside from vague reference and nothing more as seen with the one in Majora's Mask's Great Bay. The Goddess Statue could also be a similar scenario as Pinnacle Rock with Nintendo reusing the same statue in the Ancient Temple from Breath of the Wild for yet again a _reference_ with no relevance whatsoever. Not a fan of the idea of the TotK history sloppily being crammed in between Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time; and I don't think any of use appreciated the idea of it just being a retcon of the series as a whole. Leave the OG lore alone, and just have it take place such an incomprehensibly large amount of time later that it's easy to believe that this is simply a new Kingdom of Hyrule where the developers can take creative liberties without stepping on the toes of the established lore. I also appreciate Hidemaru for at least attempting to give an answer the fans can work with rather than just dodging the question entirely, which is what usually appears to be Nintendo associates' attitude when approached with any questions pertaining to BotW's place in the Zelda canon. It was cool of him to just throw us a bone, especially after the stir TotK's lore caused in the community after it released.

Tbh if think about it, Zelda returning to the ancient past then living until the time of the botw era proves the unification, Zelda is the constant as a dragon, and the Master Sword, which we know controls the door of time, is also atop her head. Zelda ties the knot. So its kind of the opposite of a dragon break, its a dragon merge lol
@TrueKoalaKnight
@TrueKoalaKnight 9 ай бұрын
Well the only problem with this theory is that Aonuma said IIRC that he had never heard of the Dragon Break concept and wished he'd thought of it before making Breath of the Wild. That implies there is no convergence in the sense of a Dragon Break. It's not as exciting, but if you listen to what Aonuma and other Zelda Team members have said about it, it is simply a case of the new games taking place so far in the future that the specific timeline they stem from doesn't really matter due to history blurring with and ultimately falling into myth and legend. And Fujibayashi's statement is only implying that the Kingdom had previously been wiped out before the event's of Rauru's "founding". Definitely points to something cataclysmic happening, what it was is not in any way specified.
@javiervasquez625
@javiervasquez625 9 ай бұрын
Then again just because he had no idea of what the Dragonbreak was doesn't mean he didn't think of a "convergence scenario" which in his head simply didn't go by the term "Dragonbreak" given his lack of knowledge regarding the Skyrim franchise. Basically put he might have indeed thought of Dragonbreak when he developed Breath of the Wild but simply didn't concieve of a specific word that would help define his intent for a timeline convergence.

A converged timeline still makes zero sense and is simply not possible. The only logical placement without any issues or questions, remains after Skyward Sword's past in the "Demise Split" with the current timeline taking place in the present as the "Imprisoned Split".

I personally believe botw and totk take place millions of years after the adult timeline and after the great flood of windwaker and well I have way for this to work. Pretty much it’s because I believe that some Zora decided to stay in the ocean. This shows how the zora also look more like fish. Also explains Rito.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but in botw and totk, we don't hear anything about the 3 golden goddesses at all, nor the triforce being a physical artifact of power. No triforce, no Din, no Nayru, or Farore leads me to believe that botw and totk take place in a separate universe, created by Hylia in the image of the previous one. So far, hylia is the only actual god we know about in the botw/totk world. You have others like the ones in the depths, but those seem more like grim reapers, entities who's job is to regulate the afterlife rather then full on gods who've created the world itself. Either way, this is my head cannon, too many differences, absences, and impossibilities for these games to exist within the same universe as the timeline. So, new universe, new timeline, and one that is completely cut off from the old time lines, yet still close enough to make references. Thinking about it deeper, Hylia only reincarnated as the skyward sword zelda, all those after are just decendants. We never learn what happens to Hylia after skyward sword zelda dies, maybe she left the world to make her own? Din, Nayru and Farore left the world after making it, i don't see why Hylia wouldn't be able to do the same.

My suspicion about the "no dlc" statement is that more content won't come as "dlc". They are using misdirection and at some point they will just release an update that has master mode and a few other things. If they can keep the depths a secret, they can conceal their real intentions.

I believe this answer is very nintendo like, and is different to the answer they would have given internally before the games release. I believe this answer is more a response to the arguments of the Zelda Lore people like yourself, who have consistently argued around the placement because of the existence of the Rito in the past. that 'one' sticking point that prevents most of the lore community to accept that the past is before 'everything' ever put in a game, and seeing this, nintendo likes the idea of speculation rather then definitive truth. the problem that really comes down to it though is that having a 'refounding' of hyrule makes just as little sense, given the information brought in from tears of the kingdom too. and they are not saying "this is the placement" but "this is what we have heard from the community and we would certainly like for our community to be able to assume they are right as trying to solve this puzzle is better for the community then us solving it for them". This arguement is like if they Took a beautiful Lego structure, broke it down to its parts, and then asked someone who never saw the old structure to build a new Lego Structure and somehow that NEW structure came out 'IDENTICAL' to the old one. So lets breakdown the information we can speculate from what information we are actually given from tears of the kingdom: The Zonai Mineru invented sky islands. there is no talk about the zonai living in the sky before this and we know the zonai are almost gone at this point in their timeline. - is it a coincidence that skyward sword is heavily based on very similar sky islands? The Zonai are the inspiration for the Sheikah eye? - is it a coincidence that the Zonai's third eye and the sheikah eye are so similar? and that the shiekah have existed since BEFORE SKYWARD SWORD? during the totk 'founding' of hyrule we see in the memories, You said they were missing the hero, link. But they were ALSO missing the REINCARNATION OF HYLIA, until she magically appeared from the future. and lets face it, the only 'real' point thats ever really an issue to the TOTK memories being put 'before' the timeline is the Rito. which is established as being descendants from the Zora race in Wind Waker, but is done so far off camera it could easily be explained by an intermingling of species from another kingdom to found a new group of Rito in hyrule. but was passed on in the "mythos" of the wind waker rito of their transformation by the god, Hylia, that shouldnt truly exist at that point in time, given their divinity is trapped in a reincarnating body. and if the Mythos of Wind Waker was completely true, then we would have to deal with the fact that the ZORA exist in the BOTW timeline aswell, so something was untrue about the Mythos told in wind waker. If you place the totk past memories anywhere other then 'before' SKyward swords gameplay (after the demise fight) you have zero glaring issues once you remove the spotty lore of the rito in wind waker. the same cannot be said if you place it after other games. Because of the points established in the totk past memories. wouldnt the Zonai have hidden themselves for millenia just to make it fit there?

My theory is that when Zelda went back to the foundation of Hyrule she rewrote reality around her and overwrote the past of the first game because Ganandorf was never defeated by the first hero and never became the Malice Gannon her time travel effectively erased the alliance with the Shekah a hundred years ago and gave us a new past that led to the present of the game… I would almost put money on us getting another age of calamity style game that features this alternate war that led to hyrule we see in tears…

I loved this theory. I do have to wonder though, what if the Ancient Hero's Aspect is only a red herring? I think I lean more on hints with the dragons themselves! Zelda is intended to be the embodiment of Hylia herself, while Farore, Din And Nayru were the various elements who helped create the world. What if Hylia used to her own way to preserve herself, which "Demise" figured out and chained himself as well as "The Hero" (since he has so many titles) to Hylia's power, thereby making it an endless chain as long they all the exist and that power remains unbroken? O.o What if THAT'S the reason the Triforce was locked away for so long, in order to protect their existence rather than let it fall into eternal darkness at Demise's hands? It kind of explains Demise's curse at the end of Skyward Sword. Then we have the goddesses representing the Triforce. We now have 3 dragons who represent them well enough, alongside Zelda's Light Dragon and Ganon's Dark Dragon. 5 examples of Draconification, the first 3 trying to hint at why at why it was forbidden, one who defied all odds after the last tried to selfishly use the power for his own means. I don't know what it's saying just yet, but I have a feeling we're in for some epic stuff!

As insane as Game Theory's theories tend to be, I still think they have the most satisfying and least speculative answer to the timeline convergence. That is to say that the first hyrule warriors game is a canon installment and the magic it throws into the mix acounts for all timelines.

The problem with The Game Theorist is that he dismisses Aonuma's _confirmed_ words as to the *non canonicity* of Hyrule Warriors for Matt Pat's "theory" to be plausible. As soon as Aonuma made his statement regarding that game Matt's theory automatically became _impossible_ due to it contradicting the developer's own words.

My theory has been, let's call this unknown hero the hero of disaster. So the hero of disaster after having the master sword for many yrs and not having a large evil to face since ganon was trapt in the 4 sword has been quelling minor inconveniences for his zelda. But then some powerful soccerer breaks the four sword realising ganon so the hero of disaster rides out to meat this monster that has been thwarted time and time again by him line of heros and they fight and link behead the beast but not be4 link also gets mortaly wounded. And as the duel commenced ganons soccerer has opened 2 massive portals and a giant meteor of darkness is heading straight for field with the last of links strength he draws his bow and releases a arrow at the soccerer but it's to late his spells were cast and the red black ball of darkness crashes into hyrule and cascades like a nuclear explosion, and with the potals still open the malice rips the bounds of reality bringing them inlign with the child timeline as the cataclysm occurs the world could never be the same again the master sword damaged after the initial blasts subside only remnants of what was remain most structures wiped clean some small green children with leaf masks protecting them from the malice and gloom left by the explosion take the masters word back to there home and build a shrine for it so there protector can try to mend what is broken. Fin. This would explain how we have a new gambledork it shows the timelines being forcefully shunted together and whipes the slate clean for the zonai to think there starting a new kingdom. And I was useing malace and gloom as just darkness manifested. Because it's terms were all familiar with now its a easy way to show the magical nucular fallout of such a event. I doubt we'd ever get this game cause it'd be dark and we'd canonical lose even if we win. But I think that's my head canon to tie up all the lose ends and give a cataclysm all under 1 neat bow. And if somebody at Nintendo reads this and makes this a games just give the hero of disaster a beard and that's all I ask for.

Then Rauru the Hylian would be named this way before Rauru the zonai ? yet Rauru the Zonai does not know there was a Hyrule before his Kingdom ? it's one among many problems with this theory. I agree the dev are careful not to let the world break appart, but if that soft reboot you're mentionning is their solution with a merge of multiple timelines ? then their world has already broken. And why telling us it's the founding of Hyrule Kingdom in totk past for it to be another hyrule kingdom, it would be a very bad story choice and very confusing. I don't believe that's what they have chosen to do I may disagree with the theory, but that's still a nice video with a lot of work behind it, and congrats for that, I just wanted to express my feel about this popular idea about the lore.

Most likely scenario (which apparently fans and theorists hate with a passion) the Golden Goddesses converged the timelines themselves through simple manipulation of events across the 3 timelines so that the Hyrule founded by Rauru would come to be in each one of the timelines. Considering the goddesses's omnipotence as per the Triforce it only makes sense that they would be able to unify the timelines as part of some "divine plan" they set up.
