Im pretty sure the irony of meliodis leaving his commandment for love was the fact he was the original commandment of love, also estarosa ( probably misspelled that ) story will make sense next season for why he went insane and is the way he is.

The reason it's an ironic twist is because his commandment was a commandment of love and he abandoned his commandment for love and when he left the Ten Commandments the Commandment of love was passed down to his brother

So there's a very clear reason that estarossa snapped which will be in the next season. It just seems weird cause they ended the season at a odd place. Like they should've ended it right before the war started, but instead they ended it like in the middle of it which is odd to me.

The ironic twist he is referring to is that he was the Commandant of Love who then abandoned his commandants for love. More or less a paradox.

The “abandon my commandment for love, what i ironic twist” line is referencing the fact that Meliodas, when he was the leader of the 10 Commandments, had the commencement of love, so to explain the bar; he had the commandment of love, and he abandoned it for love for Elizabeth, he abandoned the 10 Commandments for Elizabeth.

If you didn't catch it, the bar "Abandoned my commandment for love, what an ironic twist". When meliodas was the captain of the ten commandments his commandment was love. This is the commandment held by estarossa currently at that point in the story. Spoilers: *REDACTED*
