Acrylic Pour Painting Fluid Art Straight Pour Thick Paint Gina DeLuca Inspired Color Palette!
Hello Friends!!
Last week we did an experiment using thick paint in a Dirty Cup to do a Straight Pour. My goal was to see if it would work with a thicker paint. It did work, beautifully! I also used a comb to see the effects, which were very cool.. until my cat Zen jumped up into the middle of the canvas. So today we will do it again, minus the comb and minus the cat!
When I was working out what colors I wanted to use I kept going back and forth, and saw Gina DeLuca's Fluid Art Inspiration Cards sitting on my table. If ever there was a time, this was it! I started looking through the color palettes, and saw one that used most of the colors that I wanted. it also had a darker cherry color that inspired me to use the quinacridone violet in my pour today. Let's get going! I'm excited!!

*THERE IS NO SILICONE IN ANY OF MY PAINTS*
This was a Dirty Cup, which means this paints were poured from up high into the center, so that they will sink underneath the surface. Pouring them from up high aerates the paint and churns it, creating lots of air bubbles which turn into cells when they hit the surface. There is some blending that happens in a dirty cup.
I lay down a base coat of thinned out satin enamel pure white. Then I pour the cup with a straight pour technique.
I let the cells develop for a couple of minutes, then I torch the pour. Then I begin tilting it. With a straight pour there are lots of little cells. The more you tilt the canvas back and forth, the bigger the cells will grow. It's mesmerizing to watch!
I love this color palette.. that Quinacridone Crimson comes through layered underneath the Prussian Blue, it's a really beautiful deep rich color. So a big huge THANK YOU! to Gina DeLuca for her awesome Inspiration Cards! I wish these had existed when I first started painting!!

This pour came out so beautiful to me.. I love the colors and the composition.. the center has a soft sort of cloudy look to it. I'm very happy with how this one came out!
