More power? 699 for a Made in the USA true high end amp that doubles it's power output into 4 ohms is an offer far beyond my right to demand anything more from, imho....

I was wondering if you plan on reviewing the Schiit Hel? I am curious how the Mag/Mod stack works if you're using the Vmoda Boom mic, I am assuming Y-splitter with 3.5MM extension for the mic going directly into the PC?

im having trouble connection my FiiO5 x3(for spotify) to Gunggir dac- should work 3.5 out from FiiO5 x3 to coax on Gungnir but get no sound, tried 3 diff cables. Probably must return Gungnir to Schiit. Do you use coax in. and yes, my cd player with RCA in to Gungnir works fine.

I remember getting into an argument with my dad about this: If you're using resistive electric heaters to heat your home, you might as well not turn off your class A amplifier in the winter. When you're not using it, it's just acting as another electric radiator, anyhow. Then again, an HVAC repair guy friend of mine would point out that using resistive heat is wasteful in and of itself. Heat pumps often get you more heat than the electricity you put into powering them.

I have this exact same amp in black. My solution to turning it off was to get a Remote outlet and to connect the amp to that and a strip of leds. That way I can turn it off with just a remote and the LEDs will let me know if they are on, as it lights up the back of my desk. Works prtty well in my opinon and it only costs me 20$ CAD and not too much of my time.

comparing the specs of this unit it seems pretty good but my question is I would probably buy two of these and have it as dual monoblock set up for my tower speakers each block taken care of its own speaker. But then you look at something like a monolith monoprice Poweramp 2x200 which I already currently have which I got to say sounds fantastic and it ways like 50 something pounds even heavier than two of these. I don't know if these units here well output a better sound quality then the monoprice Poweramp that I have because if you look up the specs the monoprice is still better especially the snr ratio I believe this is one 116db and on the monolith Poweramp they claim it's over then 120db just one example. so I don't know what's your opinion but I still think the monoprice monolith Poweramp based on the specs and how much it weighs that's a good indication about solid components massive heat sinks transformer etc I still think that would be a better sounding unit then grabbing two of these and then getting 200 Watts a channel into a 8ohms when you can already get it with the monolith Poweramp . Any thoughts because don't get me wrong I would be curious to buy two of these and set him up and see if I hear a difference but I don't think it would be worth the money because if I want to return it they're going to charge me restocking fee and everything especially because I'm in Canada! But it sure does look beautiful.

my old bob carver TFM 35 amp from the 90s is 350 watts into 4 ohms and in mono its 750 watts. ON my diamond 10.1 it only says 10-25 watts at normal volume i had it go to 125 watts and that was only on when the bass kicked in. my father had a luxman amp that was 500 watts into 8 ohms i don't know what it was into 4 but he had the bob carver and the luxman hooked up to the same speakers the bob carver on the mids and tweeter and the luxman on the bass and he had it so loud that he broke all the glass and ceramic collectibles off of his neighbor's wall next door in the apartment he was watching Top Gun. The speakers where the Acoustic Research Classic 30 he still has them and just got a Emotiva 800 watt amp for them i had it on 55 could of had the cops called it was so loud but sounded amazing the preamp goes to 80.

This was something done in the 70's to make an amplifier perform "better". Heating up the transistor cans until it's at "running" temp. Also that would mean they would run around 90-100 degree's on average. I half way wonder if that's why the amp you have, has such a long startup time and it runs HOT. Maybe they have a little "thermal magic" going on? Though those look like mosfet transistors so that wouldn't make much sense?

If you really want to test amplifiers for noise floor and how clean they sound. Use a set of speakers that have at least 105db efficiency level to 112db. Then you’re stepping up to the next level. Don’t use speakers were there efficiency levels are in the 80s or 90db level.

Those Behringers are NOT 600 watts from 20-20k. Maybe a true 300 watts but probably a bit shy of that. I'm sure they're good amps for the money but bridging them doesn't truely double like higher tier amps do. One spec I found on parts Express is 375 x1 bridged into 8 ohms. But that's into 1 khz and 1% distortion. Full range and lower distortion #'s and you're looking at much lower power output than even the 375 x 1 @ 8 ohms.

taief miah thank you - but I fail to see what topology has to do with 12v trigger?. I have class a Amps with 12v trigger and it’s a great way to save power. You can implement a 12v trigger regardless of Amp topology, also according to schiit audio the Vidar is class a/b amp and not fully class A as you claim. This amp uses bipolar junction transistors and depending on which ones are used can handle up to 125c, but that’s not the issue here because of large surface area of the heatsinks and plenty of room inside the chassis - I do like that this amp is built in the US, and has a 5 year warranty.

The problem is your behringers aren’t actually putting out the wattage they claim, not cleanly and not for more than a millisecond. That why Class A exist. Class a/b is great too, but when you want a real all go no quit big nutts harry stamper amp? Class A is king. Adcom is my personal choice, for 1000 watts monoblock into 8 ohms (oh and it will do the schiit out of 4 ohms) you need the 585se, but I really doubt you could find the limits on their 555se...
@Assimilator702
@Assimilator702 6 жыл бұрын
GT4viper Class AB has nothing to do with why the Behringers aren't pushing the highly inflated wattage. It's the rail voltages at different impedances...one reason anyway. I have several mid 90's Adcom amps also....built like tanks with nice headroom. TRUELY conservatively rated power amps for a reasonable amount of $$$.

Most wear and tear on electronics is startup. All the components need to heat up/cool down on shut-off. I think everyone in electronics knows that The best amps are usually the simplest , I think Bob Carver said "straight wire with gain"

I swear the sound at 18:29 is what PUBG sampled for when my game crashes on XBOX. I would say that it was the other way around, but the game's only been out for a few months! LOL.

What about a Mcintosh MC1.25KW 1-CHANNEL AMPLIFIER there 1200 watts. Only problem is for two it might cost you an arm and a leg. Saw two "demo" models on Ebay for $21,000 They just came out with a newer model . Maybe a local dealer could give you a deal on a pair of demo older models .

Krell, Rowland, Boulder, Parasound, and others make monoblock amps made in the US (Parasound designed in US and made offshore) that offer virtually unlimited power. All you need to is supply money and electricity. These products also retain their value over time. A bonus when upgrading. I recommend Krell! If you must have tubes, there’s no better than Audio Research; also made in the USA. (In Minnesota and founded by the brilliant William Zane Johnson).

I agree it needs a 12v trigger. I don't want or need indicators, but that's a must.

Just get a set of USED Bel Canto 1000 monoblocs. Similar form factor too. Job done Zeos. Job done. Believe me, after these babies nothing that I have listened to comes close for the money...... and I have listened to many over the last 20 years.

It’s not. It’s Class D switching stuff which is fine for a subwoofer but you wouldn’t want it for critical detailed listening
