That was my understanding to, and I was surprized at how it treated frozen minions. But in general i've found it to be very useful. I'm even running it in my priest deck

Just the board state? Can't be right. If you play him on turn 2 into an empty board, you always get 3 drops. Always the same ones, but specifically 3 drops. So he also has to look at mana. He should also look at health by the same token, but it seems he doesn't.

Blizzard is looking to fix this. Right now, Zephrys seems to totally ignore 0 attack minions on both sides of the board unless it's an enemy minion with Taunt. I do wonder how they didn't notice this.

I think it because Zephyrs always try to utilize as many mana as possible. So may be if Hysteria play Zephyrs until 0 mana left, he may offer him Silence. But I never test it yet.

The card took months to code, the developers explained it was a hard process. The expansion just came out, you shouldn't be whining for a fix on day 2

It really isn’t as simple as your suggesting. The code they already have is probably the best they will achieve and any changes to it could cause more issues.

That's irrational. The 0-attack thing was clearly a bug that makes Zephrys very considerably worse.

I would imagine it was a fluke (the Whitemane/Krush one). Whitemane seems to be the go-to 7-drop that Zephrys gives, the same way Tirion is the go-to 8-drop.

The one with King Krush might not be intended as well, given it offers you Whitemane when Minions die a lot, so could be total coincidence. I wonder if it would offer you Whitemane still with a living Krush against a giant with taunt.

Since it works off of board state, I would argue the double discover from Brann should definitely discover two lava bursts, as Zephyrs (based on the board) should know there is another discover coming

Zephrys also doesn't offer blessed champion. You can have a big windfury minion like siamat on board. Blessed champion is +12 damage but the ai doesn't offer it

Randomowy Kowalski To code the card based on visual would be very strange indeed. Even stranger when we know even 0-attack cards aren’t considered exhausted for example, because they can be buffed and attack on the same turn (barring the turn they are summoned and actually are exhausted).

It's 100% a bug, they specificslly brought up the frozen minion/silence situation in a previous interview so it definitely should work that way

Oh, maybe that's it. I hope Blizz does do something about the Freeze and the 0 attack, I assume your explaination of the green border is also why it doesn't offer silence.

0 attack one is easy, they likely tuned down how important the card considers 0 attack minions, likely because it was suggesting Crazed Alchemist or cards that made your own ones able to attack to the detriment of other choices(vs Doomsayer is probably hardcoded though, similar to Jaraxxus). This overall makes sense, but can lead to interactions where it will miss lethal. Freeze is harder to explain, but it might be they similarly turned down Freeze's importance, as it may have suggested Icicle too often(or silences for your own minions). In both scenarios they likely need to include fixes where the value should raise for those if it is possible lethal.(as if that is indeed the case, the basic idea behind their lowered priority still holds)

that's really true. I guess Blizzard wants him to be 'last chance card', and therefore it is playable only when any other hope is busted... or if you control the board really hardly, as to say against CW, who doesn't have any smork minions. Also its classic set. IDK tho why Edwin is still so broken while Jaraxxus became almost unplayable...

thats tech the players found, in reality Zephrys is supposed to just find it. If a 2 mana card gives you lethal, it gives you lethal regardless if you're at 8 mana or 2 mana. its a malfunction on the card not something that should be necessary to happen

Maybe if you narrow down the options by having just the right amount of mana, then maybe it would work better.

@@timotheebrasseur2539 i dont know if zephrys actually takes a minion dying into consideration as he only looks at the current boardstate, i have been playing a lot of zephrys, and whitemane shows up alot at 7 mana even when you play zephrys as the first thing on your turn

@@pokelogikx If we are talking about standard cyclone mage you'd probably want two cyclones and two of each small spell for consistency, for wild quest cyclone mage you would also want two mountain giants/sorcerer's apprentice/molten reflections to get the combo more reliably; then again I haven't tried Highlander cyclone so I'd be happy if someone tried the deck to confirm either way

Crazy Actually, other than not being able to account for a lot of things, he does offer you non-obvious lethal, such as now, after the patch, silencing your own frozen minions to let them attack. What I meant with him being hard coded to offer lethal is the same thing blizzard meant. If there is a lethal (that he can see), even if it requires offering an option that normally wouldn't be offered, he'll offer it. This "'nudge' him in the right direction" is a thing when you're not going for lethal, or when accounting for specific cards he can't account for. "You can't just play Zephrys and expect him to give you something you want." Is not true when going for lethal. (Again, unless we're talking about very specific interactions that he simultaneously can't account for, and where you by nudging him can still get the card you want.)

I was thinking about how everyone wants to find the very very Niche interactions (Like the Prep into Pyro play, or the Elven archer Fatigue Play) Things like Frozen Minions are pretty Obvious as you can simply see them, do I do support and am happy that they changed that and 0 Attack minions. My basiv rule for Zephyrs IMO: Can you see it on board? He probably sees it too.

I took the stance that it's on Blizzard to make sure that silencing your minions, and using 0 attack minions is a thing he can do, as the OP's comment suggests that it's on the player to find lethal, despite his bugs. I still stand by that stance now, and now Blizzard has fixed many such interactions. (Even Mass Dispel into attack works now, In the past there was multiple times when I needed it and he didn't offer it.)

The UI would probably be convoluted and overwhelming, especially on mobile. Also, Blizzard doesn’t really print cards that aren’t understandable by new players. If an inexperienced player played it they probably won’t know what to look for and would be overwhelmed by the options. This is likely why we’ve never seen more than 5 choices displayed at once on a card.

Just make it have a textbox appear, and you literally wish for the card

@@ShadowMasterBearer For that to work, you would have to know the name of the card you want. The advantage of this system is that new players who don't know many cards can still find good stuff. But a bigger problem is that it would probably just be imbalanced. Zephrys is only looking for options that look good for the current or next turn. You can't just play it on turn 2 and grab a card that will be critical to your deck or the matchup down the line. If you could, it would be far, far more powerful.

He can and will give you lethal if he spots it. Everytime i've seen a possible lethal, Zephrys has offered it. He has given me fireballs, bloodlusts and more, all perfect same turn lethals. Although i had an enemy at 5hp with a taunt, and i had a 6/6 on board and he gave me a destroy a taunt, which i was surprised by as either lava burst or fireball would have also been lethal but weren't offered

He will always offer sac pact against jaraxxus, because it is always the perfect card.

Or you can just open one like I did. :) Although I didn't like most of the other legendaries that I got. Can't get everything I guess.

I had a shaman at 5hp with a taunt. I had a 6/6 on board, it offered a black knight to destroy the taunt, when it could have offered lava burst or fireball for direct lethal. Still lethal, but vaguely indirect

A way to make fireball more fair and balanced would be to sometimes have it bug out and not do its damage.. I would not give them credit for that if it happened though

No, people just don't understand how it works. The frozen Ancient One and 0 attack Bloodlust should've worked, but all the others worked exactly as intended.

Preparation interaction isn't broken. Zephrys uses base cost for calculations. The other two, I agree those should've given lethal.
