When his brother died he started learning black magic so he could revive him, and because he wanted to basically play with someone's life and death he was cursed by a god and he is a walking contradiction where he if he loves something he wants to destroy it and if he hates something he will let it happen (like he will let it be) I hope that's an okay explanation if not just Wiki it.

Sorry for a reply 2 years later, basically zeref brung back natsu and got cursed with a curse that kills things he loves or gets attached too and feels for. So when not wanting to tell someone to run it means he cares for them so then they die. Over like 400 years he just got bored and wanted to die so figured killing everything and resetting it would let him die or have a new start

@@samuell1182 Yes dont worry its fine. I was pretty new to fairy tail back then but now im just aware that he developed a split personality from contradiction. In the first one hes just his true self whos just a compassionate guy who wants to see his brother and be killed by him.. And the other one is the one he doesnt care about life which was made so that zerefs curse doesnt kill anyone.. the problem was that this personality has given up on humanity and will gladly destroy it in order to obtain fairy heart. Instead of wanting to destroy himself. Basically what he said "if the world keeps rejecting me then i will reject the world".

It's really interesting because the name Zeref kinda sounds like Seraph and the other anime you're talking about has the word Seraph in it Also I heard that the voice of Zeref as a child is the same as Deku's voice actor from Mha

Please research 'narcissitic personality disorder' (NPD) / 'cluster-B'; and know that they are the 'root of all evil' (especially 'ESFJ/ESTJ-narcissits'; Myers-Briggs reference, look it up)! European 'ESFJ' are the worst personality type, and they are responsible for inventing 'racism' and colonization! It is in their neuro-psychology!! The only thing that I'm still asking about Zeref is, if he has the time and brain to develop/create insane magic just to kill himself why don't he just create a dimension magic and lock himself away then the only ones who can enter are those tough/strong enough to withstand the curse or those evil than only do harm in the world because he can be like the one who punishes evil in his dimensions Anyway no matter how cringe Fairy Tail on the surface, it will be one of the best Anime/Manga for me
