I live in the rural midwest of the US and zero (or even low) waste grocery shopping is quite a struggle! They LOVE plastic out here! The closest farmers market is still a 20 minute drive. I do my best but it is hard. I love watching these videos/hauls and I'm jealous of your accessibility of low waste food.

Ngl, I'm quite jealous and envious of people who don't have food allergies or adversions to plant sourced protein options and several plant foods. However, as many of my food allergies result in anaphylaxis type reactions and my food adversions frequently have me wanting to crawl out of my skin, the best option for me is to be conscious of my consumption of animal products and products that are packaged in plastic so that I don't waste excessive amounts of food (and money). I know it isn't the best for the environment but I at least do what I can such as using high quality plastic gallon size jugs that I refill with water at a water dispenser because there is no way in hell that I can drink the water from my tap as it is well water and has a high iron and sulfur content despite going through a water softner system.

Honestly it sounds like you’re doing the best that you can within your circumstances and that’s amazing! You should be proud of yourself for being so conscious with what you buy and eat, that is all we need to do

Try not to worry too much about it. Literally no vegan who is also a decent person will judge or criticize you for having health issues, especially since you've thought about the environmental impact and are doing what you can.

As another one of my favorite eco creators says “You cannot do all the good that the world needs, but the world needs all the good that you can do” just live the best you can within the means you need to live by to stay healthy and safe while also thinking of the environment. No one is perfect 😊

Update on my life/health situation vs being able to consume food from packaging with minimal plastic waste- cfs/me drastically worsened and am no longer able to cook or prepare much of my food other than something that was picked up at the store, a package of ramen, bagel and cream cheese or a frozen meal. I get supplied with 14 meals every 14 days paid for by the state I have residence in (similar to factor that is owned by hello fresh). The bad news- the meals that I am able to make are largely packaged in non-recyclable plastic. The good news- I have even less food waste-> yay!!! I am also still refilling my gallon jugs as well albeit I now have an aide who helps me with things I'm unable to do independently (paid for by the state as well) who either drives me with her car or comes with me in my car if I need to get gas in the car.

The red pepper is the best, we have a long red pepper that is just as sweet as it needs to be and I eat it with salt. Also, in my country(Romania), I haven't seen the Barilla packaging with the windows anymore. I think they will switch all up, it's just a matter of time. 😁 Here you can find them in absolutely every store.

gosh, i always had a problem with mint - it would always wilt overnight (when stored in a glass with water in the fridge), so instead, i tried storing it in a damp kitchen towel in the fridge and voilà, it keeps for at least a week. even more, if you damp the towel ever so often. :- )

If you ever travel to Orange County, California, I will take you zero waste shopping. Surprisingly, there are stores here that have a really good bulk section. Oh and a really massive farmers market on Sat.'s.

I think perhaps the perfect solution to not having a local bulk store now is for you to open a bulk store 🎉 You could definitely do that. Gittemary Pantry! Will be great new content for video’s and you’ll not only be a business owner but it would be something your passionate about and have lived and breathed for how many years now?

I am really fortunate... I have a greengrocer who stocks local produce about 2km from my unit, a fabulous bulk shop 15km away and another 25km away in Hobart (which is a short distance from my work). Here in Tasmania, glass is not recycled... our population is too small for the industry to be viable and glass would have to be shipped to mainland Australia for recycling, so here it all all crushed for use in roadbase and other construction materials, it doesn't get turned into new glass packaging. Tetra packs also aren't recyclable here, and in most of my state (but not my area) liquid paperboard (e.g. fresh milk/juice cartons) isn't either... I have learned to recycle them myself just in case that stops in my area.

Agree from United States of America. I am from Indiana, USA. Brand new subscriber. Eating plants is life to me. Stay away from sugars. Eat fruit in moderation.

Oh, as a Dane that is soo embarrassing! Until a few months ago we had two bulk stores in Copenhagen(capital of Denmark) one in Århus and one in Ålborg. And now we are are down to ONE bulk store in a country of approximately 6 million people… (Please tell me if you know of any other stores in Denmark or Helsingborg or Malmø). Thank you for yet another great video!

I have seen that pasta in Lidl in Kolding. I buy that pasta every time I have the chance. We love pasta.. and I actually made a weird sound when I saw pasta in box at my favorite store..😂

Yes, lasagna (lasagne for plural) is indeed the type of pasta Little pronunciation tip: the s in lasagna and fusilli is pronounced kinda like the z in zero!

I live in Texas, most of our vegetables & fruit are available without packaging. Although there are some items like baby carrot snow peas that are packaged in plastic bags, but my and large without packaging. However, bulk stores are very very scarce. I’m trying to be conscience of packing. I buy my laundry detergent dry & in cardboard, but can’t get bleach that way. There are places you can order, such items including, toothpaste, deodorant and cleaning supplies in cardboard or glass containers but you have to factor in transportation in your waste calculations. It’s really hard.

I have watched videos of people shopping in Japan and was shocked to see that carrots were wrapped individually in a plastic wrapper along with other vegetable items. So unnecessary!!!!!
