Description:
A 13 second improvement over the previous record by eLim.
Not a great start to this run, but not too many major mistakes. At least it's not a 1 second improvement. Map 19 and 23 were quite bad too.
I will probably do sub 19 one day.
Map description:
Map 01: 14 seconds is good with this strategy.
Map 02: Got blocked too much before yellow key, otherwise good.
Map 03: Managed to run around the arch-vile, which is annoying to fail. Didn't manage to skip the first elevator in the curved hallway, but it doesn't cost much. Ok time.
Map 04: Managed to kill 5 imps in 2 SSG shots which is rare, so I slowed it down a bit to make sure the cacodemon doesn't hit me from my right. This setup for the exit switch press is quite easy.
Map 05: Good time.
Map 06: Shot myself with a rocket near the end, time could have been better.
Map 07: Wasted a few rockets.
Map 08: Barons nearly ended the run by blocking me from the elevator there. Got the .000000 coordinate thing at the glide which was annoying.
Map 09: I'm sure it's better to skip the invulnerability, but I just want to see the spectres. Good time.
Map 10: Got the linedef skip and the window jump first try, had an attempt fail it like 5 times which was followed up by baron blocking me at the exit.
Map 11: Ran into a single arch-vile (2 teleported), amazing. I expect a few more, but this is as good as it gets.
Map 12: Nearly 13 seconds, missed the exit. Usually you always get 12-14 seconds here so it's not a big deal.
Map 13: Good glides = good time. I was a bit fortunate here, wasn't 100% sure where I was when I started using vertical mousemovement, but I was very close.
Map 14: New strategy for this level, a bit slower, but it works pretty much every time so it's a lot better. Shame though since the rocket jump looks cool.
Map 15: This level is very dangerous, so I slow down a bit right after yellow key.
Map 16: A bit low on cells, I like to BFG my way out of blue key area. Went really well, uses Dimes method of clearing the last room.
Map 17: Could have shot myself with a rocket at the start and gone for 7 seconds.
Map 18: Pretty bad start, but I got the vile jump so that's what matters.
Map 19: Terrible, awful all the way through.
Map 20: Didn't get blocked before blue key, so it went well.
Map 21: Could have been a second faster, I take it a bit slow so I don't fall off the ledge.
Map 22: Was surprised to instantly get the switch to red key teleporter. Time could have been better.
Map 23: Awful, messed up blue key really bad, biggest single mistake of the run.
Map 24: The only map I really fear, the arch-vile jump can be very unforgiving. Been practicing it quite a bit to make sure my chances are as good as possible. Wasn't sure if the arch-vile was going to infight anything so I did the vile jump backwards.
Map 25: Standard 18 seconds time here. Had a few practice sessions where I failed the rocket jump several times in a row, so I wasn't sure how it was going to go on an actually record pace run. Fortunately I had no idea if this was record pace.
Map 26: I love it when I manage to kill both the 2 chaingunners before red key with the SSG.
Map 27: I tried to BFG the mastermind to allow for a bit smoother passage, but didn't work out, didn't matter much.
Map 28: Small mistake before red key area, but finally got the linedef skip at blue key, messed that up in my previous record.
Map 29: I knew this one went well, a bit afraid of the cyberdemon rockets so I fired a BFG just to be sure I could get through on the right side.
Map 30: I also love getting both those arch-viles with a single BFG. Not going to go with anything crazy here, I saw the total time and realized I could just go with the safe cyberdemon kill and get the record from there.
