Best advice to newbie Jeep buyer is buy stock do not buy a nice added on and lifted ready the higher chance of this has been off road abused and lots of hidden problems waiting to be discovered. Same reason why I seen lifted selling that have around 120k-150k miles that has issues that need to be works on while a stock one usually last over 200k-250k or more and still runs well.

@@ZeroToAwesome I think the pnetastar is supposed to be reasonably reliable and all Jeeps use ZF transmissions now so they're supposed to be pretty good. I'm wondering about the newer 2.0L, I think so far its supposed to be ok. I mean were not talking Toyota Camry with anything Jeep, but depending on which power trains you choose I think they are supposed to be reasonably ok. I mean I drive a VW GTI and they are known to be pretty much middle of the pack reliability.

agree. and this goes with all vehicles. I had the horn go out on my Subaru Outback earlier this year at about 145k miles. As it was behind the airbag, the dealer had to take the entire steering wheel apart. $700 gone. Plus the Subaru has been burning oil for the past few years - not unheard of for them.

One good thing. Those Jeeps look soooooo cool! I never had any trouble with my 1972 Commando, or my 19?? J-10 pre gladiator with a snow plow, (that came in handy), and my greatest love, my Grand Wagoneer in bright blue also a 198? model. Might be a better idea to swap out all of that electronics for a 4 barrel carburetor, V8. You only need to add gas, check the oil and coolant levels. Set the timing with a screw driver and a timing light. AH! Those were the days.

Been having my 2013 jk sahara unlimited with 64,000 miles for a little over a year now and It ended up getting the damn rocker tik which is costing me $1,500 to repair. I did get this thing from a friend for only $3,500 which I’m honestly not a jeep fan but for that price who wouldn’t get it? I’m not gonna lie they are fun to own and drive but I will most definitely be trading/selling it before more of these time bombs happen.

Surprised you got the tick at 64k miles. I switched over to 5w-30 at 100k, supposed to help prevent the tick. For that price you can’t go wrong though. Could easily sell it for $15-20k in today’s market.

1. That coolant flush isn't going to help. But, if you do it yourself, you can swap the heater core for less than $100. 2. More electronic stuff coming your way soon. O2 sensors and Alternator. 3. The Texas heat is tough on plastics... like the transfer case cable bushing. 4. Cross your fingers your rockers stay quiet, too. (2013 JKU @ 140,000)

Having owned multiple vehicles over 100k from the 80’s and 90’s (and 2 pre-1970), to me this is cheap and fairly little going wrong. Try maintaining a 1950’s vehicle, it’s not hard, but it’s constant.

My 2015 JK developed an overheating problem at only 65,000 miles. Temp would raise the faster I went, up steep highway grades the temp would climb to the 3/4 line. Took it to several mechanics and nobody could figure out what the problem was. They checked everything, head gasket, temp sensor, thermostat, water pump, hoses, fluids, no solution. Had to sell it, looking at jeeps to buy again and Rubicon models that are no newer than 2014 WITH 200,000 miles are running $33,000. Absolute absurd, looks like I won’t be buying a jeep again.

I always like the looks of a Jeep Wrangler and thought about buying one till I actually took one out on a test drive and after the test drive thought ,what a miserable vehicle this is, and walked away wondering why people like these things so much and pay the kind of money Jeep is asking, because I remember many years ago people bought cheap military surplus Jeeps to use the same way people today buy the Quad 4 wheelers or a golf cart to use as something to use for work on their property to pull a small trailer or piece of equipment on the farm or it was kept at a cabin by hunters of fisherman to drive them to the lake or down trails to a place they wanted to hunt and it was never seen as something fun ,but utilitarian because of all the shortcomings it had that I experienced at my test drive, underpowered, noisy, harsh ride, limited cargo capacity, poor road handling and actually dangerous prone to roll over in a high speed accident avoidance maneuver, you would think the money they are charging for these things it would have Toyota type quality and reliability but it is not even close, Now people think all of the Jeeps shortcomings horrible gas mileage, harsh ride, underpowered ,overpriced and poor quality and reliability are endearing traits not something to be avoided and line up to buy them, the world has gone crazy,

I own the same POS Fiat/Chrysler. Spends more time at the dealership than my driveway. However, my is a 2017 I bought new along with a Mopar extended warranty. It has had many check engine lights a lot of trips to a dealer, not counting service work. At about 4 years and 45,000 miles with the check engine light light on, I dropped it at a dealership. 3 or 4 days later, the dealer called and said I needed a new engine. Oh, Chrysler won't cover it. It should've still been covered by the new vehicle engine warranty and the extended Mopar warranty. Again, every service completed by a Jeep Chrysler Dealership. It's on their computer. I took the Jeep to a different dealership, and Chrysler did have them rebuild the engine. That lasted about 5 months and 5,000 miles. I dropped it at the dealership with 7 engine codes. Again, Chrysler refused to repair or replace the engine. Dealership ppealed Chrysler still said NO. I was told only solution was replace the engine at my expense. $10,000 later, I have a Chrysler remanufactured engine. I'm sure everyone is saying sue. It ain't easy to find a lawyer who wants to go up against Chrysler. At this point, I'll never own another Chrysler product. I owned a new Fait in the 60's when I was stationed in Europe in the military. I have never owned another one of them either. Oh, 6 months and maybe 2,500 +/- miles on the new engine it's been back at a dealer for almost two months.

My 2014 Sahara was trouble free all way to 113,000 till some dumb ass ran a red light and totaled it. Literally the only thing I had to change was the oil cooler at 90k but that’s just common and was under warranty. Other than that it took me everywhere and never gave me any problems. Have a 2017 rubicon now and only thing I replaced has been the radiator and thermostat just as preventative maintenance at 106k. Also upgraded the lower manifold to the new style with bigger ports and 8 hole injectors. Runs so smooth.

Really all you can really put in here is like 700 dollars worth of stuff. Tires dont really count, neither does rhino lining your trim. Most expensive vehicle Ive owned was a firebird formula with an LT1 - the cost of replacing that optispark as often as you do is insane. I also had two trucks from 2000 and 2002 and Ive spent about 6000 across the both of them for maintenance parts. Mostly suspension but some engine work Ive done myself. 700 for a jeep is ridiculously low. Youre talking as if it sounds expensive, I was a little scared going into your video but I think you lack proper perspective where this is concerned. I built 3 mustangs and Ive spent more on upgrade on them than you have on basic maintenance for your jeep. If I were you, I would count my blessings.
