Thank you for all this information. I broke both hips 6 years ago. They didn’t do surgery because I was not expected to survive. I spent a while in a coma. By time I came to I was all healed up. About to finally go get this looked at again. Lying in bed is the worst! One side healed back a little short. So one leg is a tiny bit shorter than the other.

I fell off a ladder 🪜 onto concrete I went to bed for 4 days couldn’t walk. The bruise was absolutely huge! on my hip side. 8 days later I can walk bruise has diminished but I have this massive lump on my side 😳😮‍💨 I’ve not gone Hospital or doctors because it’s difficult to see a doctor and the waiting at the hospital is 4 hrs 🤯 I can walk I just am hoping it will return to normal. I’ve taken a few tumbles of Horses so think that’s why I coped. The rush of adrenaline was scary 😟 I thought my heart was going to explode 🤯 I think 🤔 I may have to get an X-ray.

I broke my femoral neck in April 2023 during army training, I’m only 26 so surgeon performed ORIF surgery with metal screws. I am nearly 7 months post op and still in pain when walking / weight bearing on the affected leg. I am following my physios advice and the follow up X-rays have shown no signs of AVN. Is it normal to still be in pain?? Will I ever be able to run / train properly again? Any advice or if anyone has been through anything similar would really appreciate it

Hi there, thank you for your video which is very helpful to better understand the hip fracture. I am 38yo and I got my right femoral neck severely broken after a simple fall during a basketball game in July 2022...It is a Garden IV intracapsular fracture and the surgeons did an osteosynthetis (given my young age instead of a total hip replacement). It's been now 6 months and there is luckily no sign of avascular necrosis although I still have pains (bearable though). Do you think there is still a high risk for me to get an AVN even later?
@speedingAtI94
@speedingAtI94 Жыл бұрын
hang in there. I just got the same surgery 3 days ago. After much research, it seems that the risk of AVN can last 2 years. Groin pain is the sign of dying femoral head. There were cases where the bones didn't union until 2 years have passed. As long as the hardware is stable, I think there is always hope.

@@sgb.808 I don't know my fracture classification but it was not displaced while slightly impacted. It's not known whether there is avn yet. This is also the reason why I want to have the implant removed. There is a recent paper that shows benefit of removing implant in reducing the chance of avn.

thanks a lot for all your videos. You say "hip fracture" where what I see is a femur fracture. So how do you call a real hip fracture in American language. I can understand a "total hip" replacement though because it also involves the acetabulum, I am just surprised. In Latin languages it would be "femoral neck" fracture.
