Excited to be collaborating with Matt ‪@PacificNorthwestHillbilly‬ for the complete stripdown and rebuild of his Hitachi EX120-2 Excavator.
Watch ‪@AreaDieselService‬ experts do their part on the complete rebuild of the Zexel A-size Inline Pump for this vintage 26,000-pound, 80 - 88 horse powered Hitachi EX120-2 Excavator with 4-cylinder Isuzu 4BD1T engine. Watch as we give our overall assessment, clean up the bag-o-parts, replace the camshaft, throttle shaft, barrel and plungers, gaskets, seals then reassemble and calibrate!

A HUGE thank you for helping with this! Just so people know, the local shop quoted me 2x what ADS estimates in this video. When I refused, they said they would perform fewer repairs to "save me money" and lowered the estimate, but it was still $1000 MORE than what ADS said!

Well AdS assumes this might help bring in extra $. I watched it because of you. Not the best filming or editing. Although you are the exact example if not worse. Problem for this video, the owner (guy that wants to be on youtube? ) needs to ask questions. If you are a professional shop questions really are a bad idea on video.

I watch many repair channels. Seems like most of them send their injection pumps to you. I restored a Ford 1510 tractor (Shibaura built) and could not get any local shop to repair the injection pump. I did get it to work, but Area Diesel will be at the top of my list for pumps, injectors, etc. Great channel.

you rebuilt that pump like it was a puzzle that you have built hundreds of times before , anyone else , it would be a year long task. I watched Dirt Perfect have some work done in your shop and even then , was top notch and well viewed . Good shop , good guys , good job !

Matt can confirm, but I think I heard him say, in one video, 16,000 hours. Curtis that pre-mature donor core purchase is coming out of your paycheck.., hahaha! Also, if I was doing the work on that pump, the size the bag of extra parts going back to Matt would be considerably larger.., hahaha.. Love your videos and these collaborative videos are great..! Very interesting rebuild and saving the spare core is a good decision. Camshafts for the pump can be very price even for the cheaper end pumps. Good work ADS

That was pretty cool. Don't know squat about diesel engines but do own a Kubota tractor with a 4 cylinder diesel engine, so I found this video to be very informative. Matty's got his hands full with the excavator so no doubt he appreciates your expertise and way of doing business.

Damn ..... Nice. Did have a pump rebuilt few years ago...... The shop did NOT change one O-ring at the back of the pump and it did start leaking after some time about 1,5 years..... The ring was hard as a stone when I took it out and the engine was apart.... That was a blow in a middle of the winter and no where to stay except out in the cold...... a good done job is better then ALMOST a good one.... halve done.
