I feel so bad for her after reading about her death, the singer died of utherine cervix cancer at the age of 44, she didn't tell anyone about her illness and wanted to continue making music after several months the doctors found out that she couldn't be recovered from it she held on for years, even though her doctor told her she wouldn't hold on longer than 3 months... unfortunately, it affected her mental health a lot, she ended burning some of her favorite songs and wished nobody would ever listen to her music ever again, she regretted her whole music career.. she shut herself off from everyone, no one had heard from her in months, also after her death it was known publicly after some people found her name written on a gravestone. what hurts me the most is that she never could have a child like she wanted to, and never got the flowers for her hard work and dedication in her music career, she brought out 11 albums all between the age of 18 and 40, it's like consitently releasing an album every 2 years I don't really listen all that often to japanese city pop, but growing up watch City Hunter (highly recommended anime btw) this song really gave me some sort of a good feeling. but knowing what really happened with her really makes me sad, all this talent, her beautiful smile too... So she quit her career, disconnected herself from the world and wanted people to forget that she ever was a singer. At the same time, she also secretly battled with cancer for 3 years. Time passed and her sickness got worse. The doctors told her that she only had three months left to live. In her final months, she wrote a letter to her dad, saying that she wished she could go back in time and relive her life to the fullest; there were still so many things that she wanted to do and she didn’t want to die yet. Unfortunately, she died with her regrets in 2004 at the age of 44. Her song, Stay With Me, was the last that she sang before she died. Her sad life is what makes the song emotional.
