It's been long since the last time Weili struggled in the fight like this. You got to show enough respect to Xiaonan, nobody believed her lasting longer than 3 rounds. She overperformed Weili on striking, and after 1st round, she defended all of Weili's submission effort. Weili won by her all round techniques

The booing crowd SUCKS. This was an incredible match! Zhang was so classy, despite the hatin azz crowd. Yan has NOTHING to hang her head about! She did a truly inCREDible job! I haven't seen that kind of display of world class skill, heart, strength, and ability in a match in a looong tiiiime!! Zhang Weili? Defense, girl. You're too hittable for these taller girls. Defense, defense, DE-FENSE! Go run 3 back to back minicamps with world class specialists. World champ boxing coaches and world class Muay Thai coaches. Get and combine their defensive suggestions. Head movement? Is your friend. Do that? And you'll finish the Yan's of the world in 1-3 rounds.

Defensive acumen is one of the things that can be reliably definitely sharpened as we age. B. Hop, Hands of Stone Duran, Holmes, and of course Archie Moore and Big George Foreman are all glowing examples of what I mean. Hop, Duran, and Foreman did this at age 50+!

Can we please talk about Herzog ROYALLY messing up this fight? When I think I've seen everything, add another first to the list. He picked up a fighter that was choked unconscious up, and helped her not fall back on her face. The fight should've been over after round 1. I feel like Yan Xiaonan is the textbook perfect fighter, but Weili knows all the textbook techniques and is crafty enough to use them. Yan is a complex fighter, but an easy puzzle. Weili is a complex fighter and a complex puzzle.

You sensed it right. You can read her face when she came into the cage... She did not smile, looked so tight, and her strikes were hesitating. I think there are two reasons - one is that she may have weight loss problem again, like vs Rose II; the other one is that she is struggling how to balance her fight and Xiaonan's reputation among Chinese fans: she was over stressed by the meaning of this fight to Chinese MMA
