Even if Ziyu made it to the WNBA, it would be much more likely that Ziyu won't be on the Fever than she will, three years from now, in which case a game between the Fever and whatever team Ziyu would play on may as well be billed as a clash of the hoops titans. Realistically, the Fever would need to trade away a key frontcourt piece on draft day, along with their own first, to move up to get Ziyu. Of course, so many seem to already peg Ziyu in lottery pick territory for 2027 (if she goes Euroleague or WCBA) or 2029 (if she goes D1; don't forget that she's currently a senior in high school)...

It seems like she has decent hands, which is hard for a player of her size. How many of the true giants have had trouble catching passes despite their large hands? I hope we get to see her at top tier international play in a few years.

And the U18 World Cup is going to be her first taste of top-tier international play; too bad she was too young to play in Paris, or else she could have played in Paris. Now, how much playing time she would have gotten in Paris would depend on how she stacks up to the other Chinese bigs on that roster, namely Mengran, Yueru and Xu; the last two are actual WNBA players... if she actually was good enough, as of today, to compare to either Yueru or Xu, then I could be convinced that she is WNBA material. But 2026 World Cup is going to be her big make or break moment. She will definitely want to play her best basketball there (assuming she remains healthy until then) since she will then prove beyond reasonable doubt that she can play in the WNBA.

She has decent hands, can't jump (no big deal in the WNBA) and only shoots next to the basket. As far as her pro prospects are concerned, her biggest problem will be endurance. Can she run (not just jog) and for how long? She's a teen and it's also a matter if her bones will hold up.

@@maraviyoso8473 Agreed (depending on if she plays Britiney in the Olympics). Someone like Cardoso will try to body her and keep her away from the basket. But no one in the WNBA can jump, either. It's going to be interesting to watch. Good Olympic teams like the USA and France will, I am afraid, run her ragged.

She can actually jump and shoot if you see her warm ups. No need to jump in game though. Why should she risk it if she can score and block without jumping? Jumping adds the risk of landing badly on someone's else foot and injuring herself.

People are delusional if you think it translates into the wnba. She can t run the open floor full throttle and this is where the wnba lakes will eat her alive. She also won t be playing against very many undersized women draped off of her body as the wnba has all kinds of tall ladies to bang up against her and contest all those easy close shots. Even the easy put ins were off the rim and not many slams or swishes. If she makes it, she needs to work on her footwork and run run run to get in shape.
