VERY helpful! Thanks man! I just found the Creative Style feature and think the "Vivid" setting looks super cool. Would you suggest using this or just fixing it all in editing? Will mainly be used for video.

To be honest, I don't know if the Creative Styles work for videos, I at least never tried. Its usually set to Standard or Normal (whatever the base version is) and I use video Picture Profiles such as HLG as mentioned in this video :)

There is the AEL switch.. apparently that’s the auto exposure lock.. does that work?

One thing I saw re: white balance is to wear something grey around your wrist (like a wristband or even something as simple as a shoelace) so that you can easily have access to it in a lot of situations where a grey card is just a bit too much gear. I think it may have been Gerald Undone's idea.

I don't like audio recording with my Boya wireless mic, it has great sound on Canon DSLR Camera but on a6400 sound is very wide and it's like recording from mic from far away. On Canon sound is more focused on persons voice with no audio noises. Can I do something more to adjust?

hey I dont see 30p or 24p for the 30fps setting, I just see 25 for the 4k one and similarily only 100p for 1080, is there a way around this

Looking for help in regards to stationary filming for KZfaq 🙏🏽 I have my toggle set to AEL but still find the exposure changing when I move around on camera. Is there any way to stop this from occurring, what settings do you use for stationary recording? Also do you find that manual exposure works best for KZfaq? I’ve had my A6400 for a while now but feel like I’m constantly troubleshooting 😅

Hey Megan, I think you already answered your question - your Exposure Mode needs to be Manual. Also you want to use 180 degree rule aka if you shoot 24fps, you want your shutter speed to be 1/50sec. If you shoot at 30fps, make your shutter speed 1/60sec. Then you control your light by adjusting the lights you have in your room or aperture in the camera. This will ensure a controlled environment and that the camera doesnt change the lighting by itself.

My autofocus is pulsing. I'm shooting a 2 person podcast and it goes in and out using autofocus. i do have some colored led lights behind us on the floor to help with a mood and over look of the set. But my co-host and I go in and out of being blurry. Any tips?

Thanks for sharing! I use the same camera. The problem I found is that if I'm using the Movie Shooting mode, the brightness is everywhere. I film studio vlogs with natural sunlight. If it's a cloudy day, it usually turned out okay, but if it's a sunny windy day, my clips were sometimes too bright or too dark. That's the reason I use Auto mode; however, the brightness under Auto mode is a bit too dark for me. Do you have any tips for it? Thanks again!

Hey Jancat. I would definitely recommend taking control of all the settings as well as understanding how light works and how your camera settings like shutter speed, f-stop and ISO works towards it. I am not sure if thats what you mean, but to give you an example, if you shoot at 24fps in manual exposure, set your shutter speed to 1/50 and have ISO 100 (or 125 is you shoot in HLG3) and f-stop lets say 2.8 if your lens allows it. And then you need a VND filter to control the light so that the Metering shows around 0 or +0.3. Then you are all set :)

use auto iso and make between 125-800 if you are shooting in natural light, when you are in low light area camera will set your exposure to +0.3 ot +0 you need to check your exposure compensation

Great video . question , I have a Sony a6300 . I found out that it has no proxy file option in the menu , but I lean that you can use dual mode in this camera , and it makes one file in 4k and a small file in hd , if i am not wrong . And that file you can use as a proxy . my question is this , how do you edit the proxy file in Final Cut Pro , and then past the whole process to the original file ? do you have any tutorial on something like that ? or quite easy to do ?. I am new in video , I mostly do photography... I actually discover recently that videos pays better in stock photo than photos....lol thanks for your tips bro

Hey buddy, sorry for late reply, I don’t get notifications on older videos anymore. To answer your question, you will unfortunately need to google that. I edit in Premiere Pro and its quite simple, I just “assign” a proxy file for each file on my timeline(can be a bulk option too), then I turn on the Proxy setting itself and Premiere just uses proxy in place of a real file, simple as that. I believe final cut should be somewhat similar

Welcome! Safest option is to get a V90 card (I recommend Angelbird). I think you could also go with V60 but some high bitrate options might not be available

I just got mine yesterday and I'm having trouble with 2 things: 1. It's hard to focus objects up close, sometimes even from far away 2. I can't use touch tracking for film because it says my lens doesn't work with it.. I have the 18-135mm kit lens. Any advice on how to fix these things?

That’s true. But I believe you will have to format the card anyways. Meaning, backup all your photos and videos before doing it and leave the card in and let it be formatted as needed

Video settings are for videos and photo settings for photos. You should switch to photo mode to shoot photos, so no, I dont see how could video settings affect photos

Set "Exposure Mode" to "Manual Exposure"... This will allow you to adjust the ISO, Shutter Speed and Aperture. Setting these will depend on the subject matter being recorded.

Priscilla, it doesnt matter what camera you use, the editing happens in your computer on software such as Adobe Premiere Pro. Thats where you gonna crop it. Search for basic editing course for Premiere (or any other software) and you will quickly find your answer.
