Been to Zihua with the family 3 times prior to 2012, then got busy with the kids in HS and college. The wife and I will finally return in Nov 2024. Sooooo, looking forward to it!!! We love it there!

Zihuatanejo is such a wonderful place. Such friendly people, great weather and so much amazing food. We never felt unsafe the 2 weeks we stayed there. Can’t wait to be back.

Movie Fact: The way I first heard about this place was from the movie Shawshank Redemption! This was the main character 1st place to go to once he escaped his unjust imprisonment. Thank you for showing why he chose such a lovely town ☺️😊

Hello from Glen Ellyn, IL! Went to Acapulco in the mid 2000’s and lived in Teloloapan as a kid but never been to Zihuatanejo. Damn, right in my home state too. Looks great! It’s going on the list.

Also near the airport there is a beach where we go to when we visit my grandma lined with restaurants and whatever you catch since it’s literally on the ocean they can cook for you

Great video about one of our favorite places in Mexico and it is so beautiful and underrated! We have been going to Zihuatanejo every year usually spending a couple weeks for over 5 years now and we usually visit other parts of Mexico first and end it with a relaxing time in Zihua. November is our favorite time to go as everything starts opening up for the tourist season but there not a lot of tourists there yet so it's is easy to get into restaurants without reservations. We love salsa dancing at El Pirata at the end of La Ropa beach on Sunday afternoon to the amazing Zihuana Band. Also check out all the great restaurants on Calle Adelita along the canal! The fresh Huachinango (red snapper) frito with lots of garlic is amazing and my wife could eat it everyday, lol! We also like blending in with the locals there, they are so nice and we have made many friends over the years. Enjoy!

ooohh thanks for the salsa recommendation! Pinned in on our map for next time 😊 we were there for about two weeks in early September. It really was so relaxing but there are fun bars/restaurants for some nightlife action, too. A perfect balance for us! and yum huachinango.. ya se me antojó! 😋

Seriously one of the loveliest towns we’ve seen in Mexico! It is very hot and humid though so maybe people who don’t like that kind of weather wouldn’t like Zihuatanejo as much as we do 😅

, we always leave Chicago during winter, a few weeks at a time. We have been to many different parts of Mexico, which we love, the last 4 years. This coming winter, we are heade to several areas on the Dominican Republic.

We worked remotely while in Zihua for a couple weeks this past summer and had no issues at all! We met a few others working remotely as well 🙂 it’s not super common but it’s there!

Been there twice in 1977-1978 when it was nice and cozy. I remember only one Hotel, where I stayed. Forgot the Name, belonged to a German called Breuer. Very very nice Memories.

Thanks for subbing! Welcome to the Eat Baila Travel family we you feel comfortable sharing and asking us any questions in regards to mexico. Mosquitos in beach towns are always a huge issue during rainy season (June-November) and they're pretty bad. Places that are super hot are Puerto Vallarta, Merida, and Zihuatanejo. The heat is very strong.

ooohh very good question! We did discuss this amongst ourselves actually. We feel like PE could learn a lot from the urban development in Zihuatanejo. PE is growing but if they don't get it under control it could lose it's charm and Zihua has held on to their's nicely (at least we think so). It's hard to choose one over the other, but we do like the beaches in PE more but also, we like the town of Zihua more than PE's streets and neighborhoods....

Not sure how that would work to be honest. We are pretty sure you’ll need your Mexican birth certificate by birth or by dual citizenship.

Mencionó las 3 cosas que nos faltaron hacer 😅 hubieron tormentas en el mar que prohibieron paso a la isla y no pudimos ir. El delfinario celesta a cerrado por mantenimiento y el museo simplemente se nos acabó el tiempo y no alcanzamos 😅 pero en la siguiente visita por seguro!! Jaja gracias por saludar 😊

Wow! Looks like an amazing place! Being stuck here in the USA. You never get stomach problems from any of the food anymore? Looks like you are really enjoying your life! The USA looks very dark in comparison.

we haven't had any intestinal infections since Chiapas 😅 haha. That was back in April and nothing like that since then. We still eat streetfood and everything but are now better at sanitizing our veggies 😊 we feel truly fortunate to have many wonderful experiences! We each still have chronic health issues we deal with and we don't mention them much in the videos but behind the scenes isn't perfect, we health issues and family drama like the rest of the world 🤭 it's life!

@@EatBailaTravel The veggies in the street food are already sanitized for you by the vendors? I guess? That is what kept me from eating all that delicious looking food, like cut up fruits. Thought I would get alot of sickness. I got real sick from chicken once that wasnt well cooked

How is the wifi, is it consistent and fast enough for remote work?

it was for us! we were there in August, which is considered low season so there weren't as many people in town as there are in December, for example, so just keep in mind that wifi signal strength could potentially be different depending on traffic and usage

safe for tourists and safer than most of Mexico (yes, even safer than Cancun). It's the border towns that have the most cartel issues these days (and a few areas of rural inland states). Just don't venture off into rural Guerrero and you're fine. Ixtapa Zihuatanejo are very safe

Unfortunately not too many beaches in Mexico you can go to now without running into gringos

That’s true, and there are gringos living in the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo area but it still feels more local than many other beach towns we’ve seen

@@wasing02 You must live in fantasy land, there are plenty of places you can go in the US where only yt people are welcome. I have to be careful where I go in the US so I don't run into racists. I only go camping in rural places in Mexico, I would never do it in the US unless I was in the southwest. Yt people build their own communities purposefully segregating minorities, that's the reality of the US. So excuse me if I like to go places where I can feel comfortable without having yt ppl gaze at me.

Out of all the ones you listed, our favorite is Zihuatanejo 😊 for the food, the beaches, the activities, the lovely town and people. Also much more affordable than the other options.
