The build is awesome and probably the easiest zipper coil tutorial I've seen. Had to use 30g cuz that's all I had small enough but still came out around .13 with 1 less wrap. Extreme vapor and most flavor I've gotten out of such a low build. Thank you sir and look forward to more builds from you

i love this coil. my first crack at it isn't as beautiful as yours--kinda scraggly, but the plume is a dense pillow of soft, cool, flavor at 0.34 ohms, 3.41V and 34.5W. i didn't have any 28 gauge because i've been building your take on the tidal wire for a few months now, so i twisted together 5 strands of 32 guage for each spiral wire. i like this a lot better than the tidal wire, which needs a hotter burn in order to pull out the same cloud. i'm not a fan of the fruity juices, preferring the more bodied tobacco and creamy blends. so, for me, the way the zipper seemingly cooks out a more rounded and subdued flavor in comparison to the tidal wire that seems to provide a more sharper, crispier profile; complements my juices better.

Love these seen on riptripper and had to do. Running in a mutation xl on a hades 26650 with the efest, 4 wraps each coil, duals by the way and I'm sittin at .08 ohms the vape is great and the taste is great. My favorite build by far and that's saying alot cause out of all my friends who vape I'm the one watch in all the videos and learning how to do all the coils and mess with mods and fix them when they break (come out of adjustment), but favorite build by far, just ordered parts to make my own box mod gonna run trip 26650s in parallel with this set up so I got life to go and can enjoy these guys without having to worry about my vape dying cause man does it drain it fast.

I believe I did a new innovative single coil. Tiger wire that is 22 gauge then wrapped again with a ribbon wire .09. This build has much more flavor an more dense vapor production then a standard tiger wire. This build came out to a 0.10 ohms. Really want to share with the community.

Ive watched your video along with RiP and Daily Vapes tut for this ... and im fairly confidant i can do it. i found some scrap pieces and practiced doing some of the steps before i went and used 6 ft of my kanthal :) will try to post response video of the build when i get to it! fun fact my father in law said hes going to "ban" clouds from the bar (our closed in porch that is set up like a bar) because it gets too foggy ... one ... i built all the coils that make the room foggy .. SCORE point 1! and also ... he use to set off our fog machine in this same room ... talk about 4000 watts! im going to remind him next time he fake coughs from all the "smoke" XD point 2! lol

I just had an epiphany... We have been searching for lower and lower resistance wires to get hotter coils, more wraps, etc.. We need a wire with higher resistance than kanthal so we can build .1- .12 ohm 18 gauge builds and dual parallel 20 gauge builds.. This is where the clouds will come from.

I was looking through your builds for the first to try, and this looks like it for me. :) Then it occurred to me that it might be nice if you gave each build a difficulty rating. Then viewers could work on easier ones first to build up. Perhaps it's too obvious - this is simpler than a fused Clapton which is easier than a stapled tiger for instance. But your personal take on easier vs difficult might be illuminating.

Been working on 28 gauge spirals with 6,5, and 4 strands and I love it. Have you tried using nylon pliers? I was in a hobby store picking up a pair of flat pliers when I saw them so I got both. I ran the wire through the nylon jaws first and it made the whole flattening process easier. I was able to gently fix small imperfections and get the wire more even before I hit it with the flat nose. Wires are snapping less and the twist looks tighter. I was actually planning on doing a spiral parallel so while I'm bummed that you beat me to it, I'm glad you shared some new stuff before I wasted another mile and a half of kanthal.

Twisted Messes update. 1st zipper turned way too hot so went a size up. I wish I could remember what they were but with all the airflow options that observation might be pointless. 2nd one rocks and have kept it on for a record breaking 2 weeks. This week though it is getting much much hotter. Have you noticed a break in period?
@TwistedMesses
@TwistedMesses 10 жыл бұрын
Ben Williams haven't notice a break-in period so far. I'm still using the zipper-coil from this build video! Lol, that's the record for me for sure. Keep trying other coils and keep coming back to this one. Wire is starting to break down though and doesn't hit quite as hard anymore. Not sure why it might be getting hotter for you. Are the coils still lighting up evenly during dry burn?

Fantastic work, sir. I'm' curious. Normally when I do a parallel of substantive width per wrap (ex: a parallel clapton) I have the outside lead loop *over* rather than under if the deck allows for it (and yours does) so as to give the wick on the outside edge an earlier drop point to the juice well. Do you normally do the same, and if so, why not here? If not, why not ? Just curious. Again, awesome build. Thanks for the outstanding ideas.

I thought I was a vape nut until I just seen your dual zippers. my normal build is duals with 24 gauge wrapped 15 time around the blue handled screw drivers that rdas come with. usually vape that through a plumes veil on a sigelei 100w at 50 to 60 watts. built my first zipper last night and its a stronger vape at 30 watts then I am use to. dual zippers would kill me.

would this work with round kanthal as well? and what optimal resistance and Watt level is recommended? I will be running 24 guage, probably 3 mm diameter coil and I'm guessing maybe 8 wraps. have to put that into a coil calculator to see what it would turn out as. I can go up to 350 Watts on my mod. 40-60 is my comfort spot. can run temp control though that isn't ment for standard kanthal really. and can adjust resistance once it's on my mod by a small degree either way.

go with something like a mutation x v2 or v3 atty, those are only like 25 bucks for an authentic, and go for a sigeli 150 watt or ipv3 150 watt. they both fire down to .1 ohms and go from 7 - 150 watts. so you have a good range of options. they are both around the same price so its really just a personal preference.

Might sound like a stupid question, but couldn't you twist one long strand of 3 wires, cut it in half, and flip it over? That would remove three steps, and lessen the confusion.
@TwistedMesses
@TwistedMesses 10 жыл бұрын
If you flip the wire around the twists are still going in the same direction. That would be nice though if you could just do it that way. I bet parallel spiral wire would perform similarly, so wouldn't hurt to have them both twisted in the same direction

@TwistedMesses
@TwistedMesses 10 жыл бұрын
I finally got everything together for the box mod, had the parts laying around for more than 4 months so can't remember where I got everything. The original battery box I purchased melted down under a .5ohm load, so I bought some pretty thick copper wire and shaped it into springs for the ground connection. The switch is just an a/c 125v 3amp switch, I figured if it can handle that voltage at 3a (around 375w) then it could probably handle anything I throw at it. Think I got the 510 from madvapes or something. I didn't show the inside of the box because it's pretty janky and not a good example of how you should build one lol. I hear there are some pretty sweet groups on facebook with a bunch of modders sharing their box building secrets though, wish I remembered the name for you
@brandonflanagan8029
@brandonflanagan8029 10 жыл бұрын
Twisted Messes Your logic regarding the switch is not correct. 3a is 3a regardless of AC/DC. You're passing over 20a though that switch. When it fails, hope that it's not in the on state.
