In my opinion your are right. The problem is the engine is very small for that plane. You should try in the future a bigger engine, maybe the Jabiru 3300 or the Rotax 912 ULS. In my Sonex I get 250 mph at 3200 rpm with the AeroVee.

Hello! I don't have a zodiac 650B I have the HD model. Buying and using the Aerovee engine for the HD model was a big mistake. Maybe the aerovee engine is a good engine for other model of aircraft but for the zodiac it is crap. I had very pore performance with this engine, I barely got 500´/min in climb alone. two on board I was looking at maybe 300´/min. This engine has failed on me so I have removed it and now I am installing a Rotax 912 ULS. good luck, razvan

razvan chiriac Thanks for your feedback. For some reason I thought you flew a 650B. Do you know anyone who has a 650B with an Aerovee engine that I could contact? Bill

It's not the engine that's weak - you need to experiment with the propeller/pitch/length combination - try a 62 inch prop with 29 inch pitch turning at 3100 rpm

hello razvan, how is going the flights? immaking calculation about the propeller for your engine, and i can see below that you are using an 62-40 propeller. I have one program for calculate, and for the 62" diameter , the propeller theoricaly ideal is 62" x 31. If is usefull for you. The program is propeller calculator. Byee '
