We started at sm seaside for the parade and walked all the way down the road to srp for the fireworks at night. The performers were all dressed in amazing costumes and performed dances. We even got covered in paint!! Our first impression of Sinulog was its absolutely CRAZY & had such a great vibe. It was amazing to fully immerse ourselves in the culture of the Filipino festivals.

It's part of sinulog. its a tradition. way way back, people used charcoal. but overtime, people started using facepaints!

Didn’t say it was better anywhere in the video? We were comparing Sinulog 2023 to Sinulog 2024? and that it was less interactive & less space than last year but also said lots of positives so not sure what’s wrong with that? We mentioned atiatihan once at the very end of the video for about 10 seconds and all we said was we were able to join in didn’t ever say we preferred one over the other or compare the two! They’re both very different from each other and it depends on individual preference and what experience you’re after!

@@ZoeCzar ur right everyone has there own taste buds and opinion. Just like food. One prefer lechon, but others don't. Simple as that. All festivals have there own unique style. By the way Ati atihan started from 13th century while Sinulog started from 15th Century I guess so👉✌️✌️✌️

The new route is so hot, far away from Cr. No lots of jeepneys can enter the area.

Yup very hard to get to & from the location & like you said no shade and long waits for the parade! This year was harder than last year because they only closed one side of the road so it was very crowded and hard to move around 😩 the parade & performers were so good tho 😍

The SRP is the best, it's very spacious, clean, nice view, fresh air, very safe and No Dangers of Stampedes! The population of Cebu has increased greatly! The city is getting so crowded. The crowds during Sinulog six years ago or five years ago are no longer the same as two years ago and nowadays! In fact, in the past, before the Covid pandemic, a number of Stampede incentives were common on the old routes of the Sinulog Grand Mardi Gras. This is one of the main reasons why, last year in 2023, Mayor Mike Rama decided to move the location of the Sinulog Grand Mardi Gras and Grand Ritual Showdown to SRP. Since then, there have been no more incident of stampede, thanks to the spacious venue at the South Road Properties (SRP) that easily accommodated millions of people. The Crowds alone for this year's Sinulog 2024 at SRP reached more than 3 million, and there are big crowds also inside and outside the Basilica del Santo Niño Church, in old downtown, in Colon, in Fuente, Mango, and Baseline. Imagine if all these big crowds gathered in one place like Fuente, Jones, or Colon; it would be a deadly disaster. A deadly stampede could happen. Prevention is better than cure! We don't want another deadly PhilSports Stadium Stampede or the Wowowee Stampede in 2006, the Itaewon Halloween Stampede in 2022, or the 2015 Mina, Mecca, Saudi Arabia Stampede with a death rate of more than 2,500! Mayor Mike Rama did a great job. Cebuanos, especially in Cebu City, are very proud of you! Thank you and Congratulations, Mayor, and Cebu City Government, for a very safe and very successful Sinulog 2024 at SRP. I love Cebu! The Queen City of the South and of the Philippines! We never experienced it before in the street, however in regards to the crowds at srp I’d have to disagree with you. It is extremely crowded and I’m surprised there wasn’t stampedes there were a few areas where we were completely squished and couldn’t move! Last year was fine but Crowds were worse this year as last year both sides of the road were closed but this year they only closed one side meaning more people but less space… the parade is in the road (on one side), you have one side walk crammed with people, everyone else on the middle of the road plant area, if you wanted to walk or get out you either had to walk at side of parade where police tell you off, or go on the other side of the road with incoming traffic…. Far from ideal! There’s also no shade anywhere & extremely hot! Now we had a good time but crowd management certainly needs improving… maybe it’s better than before we don’t know but it’s definitely more dangerous than last year when both sides of the road were open

I hope the next Mayor will hold the Sinulog back to the city center. You can't feel the Sinulog vibe and tradition (which makes the sinulog famous) at SRP!!

@@barokzz4534 Is it just me, or was it really hard to see tourists, foreigners and locals alike, come to Cebu to see Sinulog but not get that real Sinulog experience? I feel they’ve been cheated. Sinulog used to be the biggest fiesta in the city, but it doesn’t feel like that anymore.

Brt route is under consturction in the old route so it’s much worse if its being held there and SRP has a bigger area which means lesser mass stampede.

Usually I would do this: Ati-atihan then Sinulog then Dinagyang. Good thing they are celebrated at different times of the month.

I Thought Ati atihan is the oldest and Mother of all festivals? If my history recollection is right. Ati atihan is already there before Sinulog & Dinagyang was born?

To be honest, I feel really bad for the people who came to Cebu to watch the Sinulog. Sinulog was more fun and “for the people” during the old route. That was the city center, too. You would not even have to find “street dancing” because all day is street dancing! I’m a Cebuano, and I wouldn’t recommend that tourists, locals, and foreigners alike just come to Cebu for the Sinulog. Not unless they bring the old tradition and route back. I would rather go to Sinulog sa Lalawigan than to SRP. Sinulog is the biggest fiesta in the city; however, it doesn’t feel like that anymore since they changed the venue.

Whatever eithe Dinagyang or atihan one thing for sure the religion about roman catholic and the santo niño who bind this all festival manifest to a christian acts and history behind this all and the miraculous he done.The only thing that unfoldl the story of dinagyang is bec. Cebu destined to be the cradle of phil. Christianity or the starting point of all the Celebrations related to the roman catholic way, just like Dinagyang... Born to be a Dinagyang bec. Of atihan and the santo niño.
