I forget the actual term but for a lack of better words our brains cap out at 60 FPS, once it reaches past that it all blends together, so when it spins fast enough we stop perceiving it spinning and instead start seeing movement. Some animals see more “frames” than people for example during the age of analog dogs couldn’t see what was happening on TV it just looked like a bunch of static but as we got better definition TV they started being able to see what we saw and some dogs who noticed for the first time got really scared and confused. Flies see in even more “frames” they see with such clarity that if you move slow enough a fly won’t even notice you’re moving, it’d be like just trying to see grass grow.

it's the flip-the-pages cartoon idea which is the same as the common "movie" concept of taking a picture 24 times a second so that you record the events over time then play those pictures back and it looks a lot like the things when they were actually moving. Doing it in 3D is just a bit cooler. Wow, you had to to create the model, create the walk sequence, export all the frames as printable objects, print them all, affix them in perfect alignment to the circle center.... this took a lot of work! very cool.

@christopherpardell4418
@christopherpardell4418 7 ай бұрын
@@alexubelBecause of persistence of vision, In person You would not see the effect unless it was lit with a light that flashed at the right speed. In the US incandescent lights flash at 60 hz. So under an incandescent light you will see the effect is each rooster sculpture advance 1/60th of the circumference of the wheel, or some even multiple of that time. This appears to be shot under sunlight ( although the apparent window could just be a prop with an artificial light source behind it. ) If this is actually lit by sunlight, then the motor had to spin the table at a speed synchronous to the frame rate of the camera shooting the shot. It’s why wagon wheels in old westerns can appear to spin backwards or stay still, but you never see that effect thru your own eyes looking at an actual wagon wheel... Because the frame rate of the film camera is some multiple of the number of spokes. On an original zoetrope, the images are viewed thru the outside of the paper cylinder, thru slots. This creates a flashing effect in perfect synchrony as you can only see the image for that instant that the slot lines up with the image on the opposite side. When watching an old Tube television you could see the approximately 30 frame flashing rate if you made a raspberry sound thru your lips. This would vibrate you eyeballs at a speed similar to the frame rate of the TV and the screen image would suddenly look all wavy and rubbery. What I am curious about is if it this was shot with a camera with rolling shutter?

Passion about 3D modeling, animation, 3D printing, all combined into such a delightful creation. Thank you. P.P.S. Instead of the round base under the figurine's feet, a disc sector, which combined would create a continuous circular band, would make the movement more believable.
