What is the most striking within this demon to me is the ambivalence it carries. If you truly think this through Zohakuten is that little voice in Hantengu's head that tells him that he can stay being a victim. Zohakuten is the one that is a created alterego that makes Hantengu think that he is indeed a martyr. In normal human psychology if someone has little self-awareness then this dynamic can be also perfectly seen. Remember back as a child when you did something wrong but your inner voice still gave you a sense of consolation telling you that it's okey to pity yourself. Now probably Hantengu did such horrible things it's impossible to compare to ourselves but Zohakuten embodies the same inner "guardian force" within us all that got twisted within Hantengu's psyche. This is why he acts kinda heroic because he truly thinks he is the hero of the story , protecting his weak soul inside himself. Such a good character...

I like zohakuten very much. looks god of all demons and that halo on his back along with double daggers in his hands looks very serious looking, this is how hantengu should also look and his emotions look more human than himself.

The halo is often a motif of Raijin, or the thunder god of Ancient Japan. Those drums are where the sound of thunder comes from in that mythos.

Bro, I just realized. When you play Zohakuten's original theme from the episode, the very first vocals actually say "Zohakuten". You guys gotta listen to it carefully to understand what I mean. 7:15 is the minute where it can be heard at best.

Well it sounds kinda calm because he views himself as the hero. So it has a heroic vibe to it since he thinks Tanjiro and anyone else who attacks Hantengu is a villain
