A tip about the zoom h1(n) is that you can get an Y-cable splitter (1stereo to 2 mono) for you lavalier mics. since those usually deliver mono sound you can have one mic for left channel and another on the right channel . Then in post production you can mix them together. This way you get away with only one zoom h1(n) for two actors if they are "close" to eachothers in relation to the zoom mic. Its a trick I got from a podcaster.
@marctestarossa

this is actually awesome. I got two lav mics and the splitter delivered today and I think it will be awesome for my podcast when we're on the go 2 channel audio recorder for your back pocket

Loving the H1N! I bought it earlier this year (thanks tax return) and I've been using it on and off for a while. I'm new to using these kinds of recorders but I must say it's easy to get around! And I must say that I'm a huge fan of the quality of sound it produces! Definitely worth the money if you're in the market of buying one!

If you are looking into buying Zoom H1n to use with a lavalier do not buy it. Audio dial on top can't be locked (only function that can't be locked) so if you toss it into someone's pocket chances are levels will accidentally change ruining the video.

Had mine for a while. Use it to record other bands when I'm out clubbing. It's excellent! Recorded my band with a mic stand 3 feet in front of the stage. Great results! I couldn't be happier. The battery door fell off a while ago, but the batteries are a snug fit, so no worries.

Sir, I think I have a love for buying small bags at local thrift stores to deal with the insanity. I bought a GPS bag that works excellent for this. Thrift for the win. I've also used Zoom H1 for years now with zero issues. Their customer service also replaced broken/missing parts on my Zoom H1 AFTER it was discontinued. For the reasons you've mentioned and the customer service, I always recommend their products. Years later and I have had zero failure in the device and am looking at the H1N as secondary.

Oh my. Reviewing a product I have that's been tucked away for so long (4yrs). I have the "H4n", a beast at recording micro sounds even from the far distance. I heard birds chirping in the far background or leaves smashing down like crushed egg shells. Makes for an extended hearing aid or ASDR for soothing sound mediation? IDK We luv you D4' ...

@@ayushpathania5500 well, i have the H1n. You have to record in a silent room. Or you have to lower the dial at the top to not record the background noise. But then you have to keep the mic close to you.

My beloved Zoom H1 met its demise at the teeth of a retired racing greyhound. Now, I use...no joke...a Samsung Galaxy S 3. lol I started using this, along with an app called Rec Forge 2, temporarily after my H1 became snacky time food and I like it a lot better. It's a lot smaller, it's rechargeable, and you can easily move the audio files to dropbox or whatever when you're done.

I got the Zoom H1N paired with a rode lavalier go. I honestly am really impressed with the sound coming out of this combo, so much so that i even used it to record some dope vocals, even though thats like, the exact wrong use case for this kind of setup. And you know what? I don't think people are going to be able to tell the difference.

One thing I really don't like about the H1n is how sibilant it is. Especially when you're trying to tak advantage of its proximity effect. Nothing like a quick de-esser can't fix but its something to look out for.

■ 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, your exposition was very clear. I think you forgot to say that it has a 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲. I am planning to buy one to register my lessons at the university. A do not know if the microphone will do the work with the professor 5 or 10 meter away. ■ Big adventage of 𝗭𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗛𝟭𝗡 is that it can be powered by a 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗸, while 𝗭𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗛𝟭 works only wiith batteries.

At thomann.de the new version was more expensive than the older version, but as soon as all the old ones were sold out, the price of the new one dropped below the last price of the old one. Man, it must have been a flat feeling for those who bought the last of the oldies.

I find it crazy just how much footage and content you managed to squeeze out of the few recording sessions you did for your last short film on your equipment. Talk about making use of your time! As always, an excellent video going into quality entry-level equipment for filmmaking. I ended up picking up the lav mic you talked about in your last video; it's been amazing during the times I've used it. Might consider this in the future if I decide to start filming stuff in the field; my current mic setup (at2020 xlr microphone with audio interface) is a little cumbersome to take on the go. Keep it up D! Love you fam!
