I would power my Zoom H6 with the USB connected to a little rechargeable battery. It was amazing, I would never have to change out the AA batteries. Then I dropped it one day and broke the USB port. I have had mine since Black Friday 2015 (or 16?) and it still is an important part of my collection, even with AA power only. I use it to make art. I use it for paying gigs. The algo brought me here because even KZfaq knows how much I love my H6

Confirmed my thoughts! I'm looking between buying the 2020 version with all the physical dials and the 2024 one that's all digital interface. I like being able to adjust the dials and not have to tap tap tap into a screen. Sounds like this version still takes the cake!

Oh the good old USA.lol I'm a Brit', but the USA was my second home for 25 years. I've encountered this sort of thing so many times, it used to drive me crazy. It doesn't seem to matter where you go, if you're doing something that appears out of the usual someone will turn up and challenge you? I call it the "jobs worth" mentality and usually applies to a lowly-paid job where an individual suddenly acquires a sense of power over someone else. It's a very common practice in the States, not so much in the UK. It must be a cultural thing but as a Brit' it can get tedious to say the least. I digress sorry, thanks for your H6 comments, they were much appreciated.

Documentation in case anyone else ever has this problem: My first H6 suddenly decided it wouldn't boot up anymore. I tried all kinds of things. Although I was up to date with the firmware, I decided to try reloading the latest firmware, unfortunately that didn't help. I did discover that it wasn't a complete brick. I could still use it as an audio interface. However, to boot up, I have to keep the firmware file on the SD card (I just keep an "ancient" 4GB card in this H6 since I can no longer record with it). While powering up, I hold the play button until I get prompted to update the firmware. I cancel that and then select audio interface mode. So this H6 is relegated to online conference calls (such as with the other "Zoom", Microsoft Teams, etc.).
