I have a similar problem. My usb power cable is just fine but I believe the port where you plug the cable into the mixer is loose or has a bad connection. It works but only while holding the cable

What size copper wire did u use? Is there a certain type of solder?

probably magnet wire and use regular lead free electronics solder ... but if you have to ask those type of questions, you probably would want to find a repair shop or a qualified technician to do the repair..
