BABY Orang-Utan HUJAN 😍 meets his family at KREFELD ZOO | zoos,media

Krefeld Zoo is currently home to cute offspring: the orangutan baby Hujan. Zookeeper Eva Ravagni and the team of the apes' department care lovingly for the little monkey. Since the ape shall not be educated to be a human and is designated to become a member of the harmonious orangutan family at Krefeld Zoo, the experts make sure that he never loses contact with his family, despite the hand-raising, so he can be easily reintegrated later.
In the videos before we already reported the contact of Hujan with his family and showed it. In November 2017 we witnessed a contact between Hujan at a special place for the first time. You can see how curious the other great apes are and how lovingly they start to contact with the sweet delight.
Now it is already the end of February 2018 and Hujan has grown again and everything is going so well that his integration into the group is soon approaching. We keep our fingers crossed and will visit Hujan again soon.

I think orangutans are my favorite out of all species of apes and monkeys. Their personalities tend to be sweeter and gentler than most.

Ja, diese Wünsche sind sehr wichtig. Die wundervollen Affen im Video hinterlassen eine Lücke. Der Protagonist des Videos, Hujan, ist zum Glück im fernen Großbritannien völlig verschon geblieben. Die übrigen Tiere sind ein großer Verlust.

Yes, she was talking to them and their reaction shows the wonderful bond of love and respect. A nappy can sometimes be important for hygiencial reasons during hand rearing but, as soon as it is not neccessary, the babies won't wear it.

Bunjo is amazingly interested. 😊 Hujan really liked to stay in the arms of the caretakers but he was integrated successfully and lived with his grandmother and her daughter. Then the grandmother suddenly lost interest and now he lives in Monkey World.

We (indonesian people)'re knowing ths behaviour very well .thats why our government "make" a island (borneo)thats dedicated to resque them (special for orang utans only) for the babies that lose her mom or get ignored from them the keepers will carrying raising ..n teaching them how to survive till they can return to the wild at least after 8yrs old

Ich wollte immer so gern Tierpflegerin werden. Nur leider war das nie möglich , da in der Ex DDR nur möglich war wenn man bzw. wenn die ganze Familie in der Partei war. Für mich Persönlich ist das der schönste Beruf, da ich Tiere über alles liebe.

They don't bite us because wo don't work with them. The expert in Krefeld Zoo that worked with him and his family never mentioned tha the animals would bite them and we never witnessed that happening. Orangutans really enjoy the contact with humans when they built a relationship of trust and respect. There's no reason for them to bite ort even attack.

Er lebt noch - bereits vor dem Brand war er schon in Großbritannien. Das Affenhaus gibt es nicht mehr, an der Stelle ist aktuell auch nichts Neues. In den nächsten Jahren wird aber ein Affenpark in Form eines Artenschutz-Zentrums entstehen, sodass die Arten auch in Zukunft im Krefelder Zoo vertreten sein werden.

Why is the baby separated from the parents ?

The mother became a very serious disease which made it unable to care for the baby. So, it had to be taken into care of the keepers. As soon as the mother was healthy again, the baby was presented to her but she didn't care, so the baby had to stay in the keepers' care. He's now a wonderful teen orangutan living in UK and hopefully will soon be the leading male in a group that participates in the European Conservation Breeding Program for the species.

Allerdings haben wir nach wie vor Zugriffe auf dieses Video, das ja auch letztendlich zeitlos ist. Hujan ist zwar in Großbritannien, aber die Methodik und die Tierliebe, die wir im Video sehen, ist ja nach wie vor gelebte Praxis.

Yes, Hujan is really sweet. He wasn't really separated from his mother - she became ill and couldn't care for him anymore, so, the caretakers had to save his life and raise him like this but he never lost contact to the family as you can see. After the mother were healthy again, she showed no mother-like interest in Hujan anymore, which is normal because in nature, life has to go on. As the time had come he was moved to UK to live in another family where he thrives really well.

Eva must have been devastated when these sweet creatures were killed in the fire. She was one of the most caring caregivers I’ve ever witnessed. Please tell me she’s still working there?! Will the ape house be rebuilt?

Everyone was devasted - it was a horrible night. We don't know it for sure but the last information we got shortly, she's still caring for the great apes in Krefeld Zoo. The whole team is doing an amazing job caring for the successfully breeding gorilla family that was not affected by the fire and the two chimpanzees that survived the fire. The house will not be rebuilt but in the same area there will be built a conservation center for great apes.The husbandry of the gorillas will be enlarged. There will be also chimpanzees: a new group will be built for the surviving two chimps living there. In addition, we will also see orangutans again. All in new, modern installations. They all will be bigger and the whole area there will be different.

Yes, it was. At least. Hujan survived because he was moved to Great Britain before all that occurred but all the other orangutans you see in the video unfortunately died in a fire accidentally caused by people, who illegally used a sky lantern to celebrate the New Year.

He had a chance to be with other orangutans after he learned the social skills from his grandmother he was united with im Krefeld before. The studbook coordinator in Karlsruhe Zoo knows the reasons more detailled.

It is a cruel mistake for you to NOT give the baby to her mother. The mother and tribe made all gentle effort to create connection with the straw. The woman took the straw and threw it away. The baby took the straw and looked beautiful with the connection. What conceit, what arrogance from the woman guard. A selfish disdain for the feelings of baby and tribe, family and especially mother. She is the last person on the Earth who should be holding that baby. Babies need their mothers.

Why didn't you listen to what the experts say in the videos and just comment exposing yourself that you have no clue on what happened? The experts at Krefeld Zoo did everything to give the baby back to his (!) mother. She didn't accepted that anymore which is a normal reaction of orangutans. The mother showed up on the window shortly, payed no attention, the others are just investing the baby because Hujan never lost contact to them, were constantly familiarized with them. What arrogance of you to simply not listen and do your homework and still thinking you comment would be of any importance. Educate yourselft before you comment!

Hinter Gittern wie Schwerverbrecher. Sie sollten im Urwald sein und nicht in Gefangenschaft. So arme Geschöpfe.

Im Urwald haben sie keine Überlebenschance - im Regenwald, ihrem eigentlichen Lebensraum aktuell leider auch nicht. Deshalb ist der Krefelder Zoo ja auch im Schutz von Orang-Utans seit Jahrzehnten aktiv, damit es für Orang-Utans wieder einen Platz in der Natur gibt. Dazu ist die Haltung unabdingbar.

Diesen Schmerz können wir gut nachvollziehen. Da es allerdings schon zu Verwirrungen kam, möchten wir darauf hinweisen, dass Hujan, der Protagonist dieses Videos, wohlbehalten in Großbritannien ist - schon vor Monaten ist er dorthin gebracht worden, weil es einen hervorragenden Platz für ihn dort gab. Alle anderen Tiere wurden leider von Flammen und Rauch getötet. 💔😢
