I like to believe that was the background chorus for a musical number from a completely different story. Like, when Seymour, Audrey and the rest of the main cast aren't on screen they're off providing background vocals for other, unseen people's songs.

I was walking in the Wholesale Flower District that day. (Shoop-da-doo) And I passed by this place where this old chinese man... (Chang-da-doo) He sometimes sells me weird and exotic cuttings. (Snip-da-doo) 'Cause he knows, you see that, strange plants are my hobby. (Sha-lala-do) He didn't have anything unusual there that day. (Nope-da-doo) So I was just about to, you know, walk on by. (Good-for-you) When suddenly, and without warning, There was this... (Total eclipse of the Sun) It got very dark... And there was this strange humming sound, Like something from another world... (Da doo) And when the light came back this weird plant was just sitting there. (Oops -ee-doo) Just, you know, stuck in, among the zinias. (Audrey-two) I coulda sworn it hadn't been there before. But the old chinese man sold it to me anyway. (La-La-La-La-La-La-La-La-La-doo-doo-doo-doo) For a dollar-ninty-five.

I watched this movie when I was 11 and have been fascinated by the total eclipse of the sun ever since. My kids couldn't understand my excitement over being to experience one in real life right from our driveway as we live within the path of totality. Sadly, no Audrey II appeared at the florist 🤣

For the record, it's safe to look directly at an eclipse as long as it's reached totality (or perfectly covered). We were in the path of totality 3 years ago and could look at it without special glasses for 3 minutes straight. Definitely an amazing experience. Another one is coming near us in 2025.

This is the weird thing about Seymour and his association in skid row. He said he’s poor, but never broke. He is able to afford buying plants as a hobby. He’s able to spend $1.95 without thinking how it’s going to affect him. If you really think about it, he is able to get out of skid row if he just saved his money better.
