Had requested this a few times! This movie is such a mirror to the Film industry, Zoya Akhtar’s directorial debut 🙂👍🦋

Fun fact: For someone who was from the industry Zoya did have some struggles before she started this film. 1. She could not find an actor to play the lead role. She had access to all the lead actors but none of them were ready to do it. 2. Because she did not have a popular star backing her film, she couldn't find a producer. Movies about the film industry had never earned money at the box office so producers were skeptical. 3.She started assisting directors (like Mira Nair on Kama Sutra) much before Farhan even decided to get into films. By the time she managed to get a cast together, Farhan had already made Dil Chahta Hai and acted in a film called The Fakir of Venice. Farhan and his friend Ritesh decided to produce her film. She asked Farhan to act in her film because she just couldn't find anyone else. Another fun fact: In the Baawre song, Hrithik had a bad injury on one leg but Zoya and team didn't have money to reschedule the shoot so he showed up and the choreographer came up with steps that wouldn't put pressure on his injured leg. If you look carefully, you might notice this. 🙃

They got so many cameos bcoz of ZOYA AKHTAR - FARHAN AKHTAR 's father JAVED AKHTAR JAVED AKHTAR with SALIM KHAN are legends writer known as SALIM-JAVED They both wrote blockbuster films like SHOLAY - DEEWAR - DON - ZANZEER - MR INDIA etc Btw SALIM KHAN is father of SALMAN KHAN

The celebrity cameos are very strategic. It never feels random.

This is rather a topical choice for movie viewing. Happy to see Michael Boose reacting to this. An interesting first movie experience.

So Jaby has now seen every movie by Zoya Akhtar 👍 I hope he does the same with Imtiaz Ali as he has really liked everything of him he's seen so far. Highway should be next as it was highly requested on the Tamasha watchalong. SS Rajamouli is another director whose whole filmo should be explored. Maryada Ramanna (inspired by a Buster Keaton movie), Vikramarkudu (IMO one of the best masalas ever made) and Yamadonga (a unique mythological masala with Jr NTR) could be next! 🙂
