We head to Turkey to check out the ZQI ammunition manufacturing plant operated by MKE. ZQI ammo has become popular on the US market and has been found in Walmart stores across the nation. Many people had questions about the ammo so we decided to check it out and bring you along. This is the first time a film crew from any nation has been allowed inside MKE and we would like to thank them for the opportunity to tour their facilities.

With a background in manufacturing, I never stop being fascinated by press stamping and extrusion processes. Great "how it's made" vid. Fantastic camera and post work here! I have co-workers in Turkey so enjoyed the familiar accents.

I spent 3 months in Malatya Turkey during my time in the service. Politics aside it was one of my favorite countries I have been too. The people were FANTASTIC and hospitable! The country on its own was absolutely beautiful! And the food was some of the best I have ever had! The country definitely left a great impression on me! ZQI Ammunition I have bought 400 rounds of 7.62 and 180 rounds of 5.56 and I am very eager to try them out! But I hear great things about them! Thanks!!!!

TexasRedneck its not match grade but i get 1.5in groups at 50yds with a 4moa red dot out of a 16in 1 in 8 faxon barrel.

That was really interesting. From just watching the video, I'm pretty impressed with their manufacturing standards, quality assurance, and general cleanliness and professionalism. Was that kind of your take as well?

Alan Bycroft Yes, it was my take. Modern manufacturing and a lot of quality checks. I plan on shooting a lot more of it in the future.

Alan Bycroft I found this video to be very interesting, myself. I have been in the manufacturing field for the past 11 and a half years making automotive suspension products. I am also very impressed with their standards, QA, cleanliness of their shop floor, and overall professionalism.

I have used their ammo for a few months now. Their 7.62x51 and their 5.56 NATO just for plinking and fun shooting. Works great and the prices have always been good. The Walmart had the 7.62x51mm priced at 10 bucks a box of 20. And through the M855 rush, it was always available at my local Walmart, and still is. 10 bucks a box of 30. For those prices, and the quality I have experienced with it, its great ammo to have and play with. Great video. These tours and insider looks at how products are made are always interesting.

Have shot a lot of the 9mm Nato spec ZQI and have found it to be field accurate + reliable 100% in my G19. No issues with quality that I can detect and seems to be available locally for a decent price. Have not shot any of the 5.56 yet, though I bought 10 boxes to play with. Thank you for the video! It is awesome to see the facility and procedure.

As a Turkish I am really sad to be never able to shoot or reach those ammunitions produced in my country. You guys in USA are so lucky to find ammo and guns in malls like Wall Mart. I wish I can visit USA one day and shoot every kind of weapon. Great video, thanks for the tour.

I've used this ammo since I purchased my Windam Weaponry AR 15. And this stuff is great. Very accurate and reliable. A great value when you can find it. $9.99 a box at my local Walmart.

I LOVE that you have a glass of chai at the end! You even had it in the traditional glass and saucer. I was stationed in Turkey for 15 months and drank a lot of chai, as well as apple tea. I would love to go back some day.

my father was a master sgt on okinawa. the only thing he ssid he found reassuring was the abundance of ammo. he was a farmer and a most excellent rifleman. when i saw you kidding about getting those cases home, i immediately thought of him. thanks for the great tour and that moment. i'm 71 and a farmer. i shoot every other day. god save usa. i'll try some zqi. rgw.

I shoot the 7.62x51 ammo by ZQI in my bolt .308 and love it. Cheap, reliable, and fairly consistent.

I'm from Nebraska so I've had the opportunity to tour the Hornady facility in Grand Island and much of the process look similar yet quite different to the way they do things. Especially the way they make their actual bullets and how they are extruded and not machined.

Excellent video. I've liked the ZQI I've used but this really convinces me to keep an eye out for it. I wish the 5.56 was more available. I've only been able to find it once but I liked the accuracy and function a lot.

ZQI Ammunition Thanks for the reply. The prices on the shelf at Walmart are much of what makes your ammo appealing. I got a box of 30 rounds for $9.99, making it on par with the cheapest 5.56 ammo out there (but better quality). With the prices of ammo today, I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that price matters more to me than sealed primers, shiny brass, and MOA accuracy when it comes to range ammo. For that reason $0.36/round is the most I'll pay for range ammo. On your site it's not priced nearly as attractively and sadly if my local dealer were to buy small amounts to sell, their prices also wouldn't be favorable. What would help the most is if you can get more of your ammo to large scale retailers like Walmart and big gun stores. That will keep the cost per round on par with cheap range ammo, but give you an edge because of quality.

ZQI Ammunition Makes sense. So here's a question. I'm sure you don't want to disclose what your dealer wholesale price is, but is it low enough that the dealer could (if they wanted to) sell your ammo under 40 cents per round? I could see paying that for accuracy testing, if maybe not for range plinking. Over 40 cents just ends up being a tough pill to swallow since at that price there are a lot of good quality options on the shelves.

someone should point out to these guys that annealing is the process of softening metal to allow it to be worked. forming and stretching metal causes it to harden and become brittle. Tempering is hardening and is done by quenching the heated metal quickly which causes it to be harder.

The ZQI 7.62x51 is almost the only thing i have ran through my DPMS G2 so far. Other than it being really rough on the brass and causing some case head separation so i cant reload it, it has all feed reliably and been very accurate with no blown primers or anything. But i do get quite a bit of brass shavings inside the bolt but i think that's due to the gun still being new and the dual extractors.

Well, after this video I won't be able to find ammo at Walmart anymore. All other ammo is always wiped out at Walmart besides ZQI because people didn't know much about it, Ive been using it for some time now 9mm 556 and absolutely love it. Never had a light primer strike or any problem what so ever. I'm Afraid that after this Video I'll find no more.

My pistols eat their ammo like candy. Never had a problem with it. It's been fired out of everything from 3rd gen S&W's, M&P's, Kahr's, Glocks, and Beretta's. The nice fireball the powder produces is an added bonus!

I shot quite a bit of ZQI 9mm in my Springfield XDs and XDm, but when I shot it in my S&W model 940-1 wheel gun the cylinder would jam after the first round. My gunsmith told me for some reason the primer bulges out and seizes the cylinder, so I stopped using it. Out of the semiautos, though, never had a problem with it. It's pretty good range ammo, and a couple of bucks cheaper than premium American brands at WallyWorld.
