This is the tutorial of how to change the buttons on the JoyCons. This video also show you how to unlock and lock the locking tab on the mother board of the JoyCons, this may help you to avoid the broken of the tiny flex.

Christo Clark yeah but it’s just Nintendo is missing SO much potential in this. They realized they had this chance in the 3ds era, with different colored systems, buttons, and faceplates. Even Microsoft has a custom controller maker for a fee, which is what Nintendo should do.

I’d love to customize my Switch and I keep stumbling across your products and videos. I’ve never taken apart any electronic devices which is why I’m still not 100% convinced to try, but this video seems pretty helpful!

Personally, I think the most difficult part of the installation is to unscrew the screws, they sit tight so easy to strip. So if one day you are confident enough to take it a try, I suggest you buy a professional screwdriver kit with different sizes and types of tips. That will help the installation easier.

Awesome video. Was able to do this without much issue. One mistake i did notice was that you reconnected the ZR button cable upside down. I had connected mines the same way as you but notice that it was working. Found out i had to turn it upside down to get it working again. Other than that, pretty easy job when doing it slowly.

I have the back plate in that color and I have to say it’s beautiful, I have a pair of joycons I changed the shell to wood grain, and I want to get this buttons to put them in my blue and yellow neon combo so they match the backplate It’s just gorgeous.

The Y00 screwdriver included slips a lot and stripped 2 of the screws. I had a Y1.5 (40mm) luckily and found that it worked much better incase anyone is having trouble opening the casing.

Just so you know you put the ribbon cable in backwards! The red side at the end should face up! I did this and my ZR stopped working! Hope this helps if anyone else had this issue!

How the HELL do you guys remove the first 4 screws that simple with your original tri wing screwdriver that comes with the kit??? I really need help before I strip them all.

In the video we did not use a new Joycon, which makes it looks easy. If you use the tools come with the buttons, please do it carefully, line up the screws with the tri-wings screwdriver, make a down-forward pressure and then start to screw it out slowly. If you can find a Y00 screwdriver with a big handheld somewhere, it will make thing easier.

I do not think so if you do it correctly, but if not, there goes the joycons, jk, you would just have to be careful, watch his other videos on how to do it, and while you are at it, try replacing the shells, makes them look so stylish and flashy!!!!!👌🤘

You can actually prevent it with the anti-drift mod if you take it apart. Real easy too, just put a bit of paperboard in the right spot

Even though this video was from a year ago and people probably already know this, you can definitely see that although the video is sped up, it takes a while for them to take the ribbon-wires out. For anybody who has never taken out a ribbon-wire, they are extremely delicate and can break easily. I suggest looking up a video on how to disassemble the ribbon-wires so you can get a full explanation.

You sent me the right buttons (Gold, with D-Pad) but the shell you guys sent was the plain soft touch red (no D-Pad). Order was under a "Jennifer" if you could ship out the right shells, that'd be awesome. Other than that, MAJOR kudos on whatever you coat the shells with to get that "soft touch". How do you replace the home button on the joycon with the colored one? Would be great if you guys answered I'm really stuck on what to do as i didn't get a plastic home button housing in my pack so I assume you have to pop the old one out? But I'm not 100% sure.

There is a small transparent piece that goes with the buttons kit, you have to combine the home piece with this transparent piece and then that's it!

There are 2 different types of screws on a joycon. All the exterior are tri tip and the interior are Phillip's, if I remember correctly.

You don't need to deal with the original home button. There is a small clear plastic piece come with the buttons kit, you have to combine the home button piece and the small plastic piece together, then that's it.

Putting back that connection at 5:40 f****** impossible. That strip is all curled up, so once you get it all lined up, as soon as you let go of it to put the clamp back on, it bounces right outta there. Need like two more hands.

Currently doing my own pair right now, and the the trigger buttons scare me. The one I was taking out snapped thankfully I’m replacing it, but the thought of the replacement breaking while I’m trying to put it on is very worrying lol

So I'm a little upset I bought 2 cases for my joy con's And as I'm trying to reassemble the joy con none of the screws fit not even the extra screws that were in the package so this was a complete waste of time and my money and I need new joy con's now because I tried to follow a video and it didn't work

Please check if the button can be clicked down before you close up the front and back shell, if not, then check which part is stuck and fix it.

I got my extreme rate shell joycons, backplate, and buttons and was able to successfully do everything except for the home button. The button comes separate and I believe it's just supposed to pop in the clear part but it won't stay in no matter how much pressure I put, maybe it came defective, I don't know but I'm making sure to line up the parts. I don't know what I'm doing wrong because it's not included in this video. I hope to get an answer, thank you!

@@left6044 We've updated the screwdrivers to the metal one, that's what you got. Nintendo made the screw tide, and they are too small, that's why they are difficult to take out but easy to strip. So when you do take the screw out, you have to hold the joycon/console very tide, and use a hard forward force on the screwdriver, and then start to screw slowly. I got a white shell and the blue/purple glittery buttons, and with this setup the R button seems to stick. I will do a lot of test clicking, and after about a minute or so of clicking it simply gets stuck, and remains so until I disassemble everything and jiggle it a little. Any thoughts?

Seems the paint on the R button is too thick to made the issue happen, please try to worn the paint on the axle of the R button to see if it can helo. Or please contact our customer service via email to service@gamingcobra.com, we will ship you a replacement.

I can’t get the screws out.. I got a metal screwdriver with a y.1.5 and ph00 pin with the set but I can’t get them out, even with a lot of pressure.. I just give up..

Some Joycons have extremely firmly screws. Please use a professional screwdriver kit with a bigger handheld and different sizes of + and Y tips.

My dad did it for me but I already stripped one screw of the right joy con so I won’t be able to open that one, so it’s already an lost case. Just send good quality stuff with it next time..

Completely messed up a Joy Con trying this, the plastic is so weak that when you take it apart more then once not a single screw holds anymore. 🤦🏻♂️ I had more hope doing this then doing the Hope kit for Series X .. but that once seems easy compared to this!

NS Lite would be 10, so joycon should be 8

So you cant replace the home button? Cause in the video they just put the black one back in and I can not figure out how to get the black one out of the white case to replace it with the new one that was included.

You don't need to deal with the original home button. There is a small clear plastic piece come with the buttons kit, you have to combine the home button piece and the small plastic piece together, then that's it.

So i bought the NES ones, it has red buttons for the capture & home button. How do you remove the black home button from the transparent cover? I can’t take it out & it will bug me if I leave it black since I already did the left joycon with the red Capture button....

You don't need to deal with the stock home button. There is a clear plastic piece that comes with the kit, that's the base of the home button, so you just have to combine the home logo piece with this clear piece, and the home button is done.

Why do these kits exclude the + and - buttons, the screenshot and home buttons? I don't get why that is. Just seems incomplete without it. As well as joy con release button.

No they are totally different. Our Switch Lite buttons set will be released in Spring 2020, please stay tuned.

Purchased and re-shelled my joy con, but now my “+” button won’t work. Now I can’t take it back apart because the screws have become to horribly stripped and I barely even used any pressure on them. Not disappointed in the product, just the circumstance....

Pretty sure I broke mine trying to do this lol. I’ve been working on it for two days and the front and back covers won’t snap into place correctly. I’ve tried disassembling it and restarting the process like four times. Idk what to do at this point

ExtremeRate the motherboard isn’t laying flat like it supposed to. Whenever I try to put the plastic piece that holds the battery back on, the screws don’t reach where they are supposed to. They kinda just loosely turn left and right. Someone told me it might be the NFC reader but it looks fine to me

Is it possible to remove the home button out of its clear housing? I noticed in my kit there was a home button that matched the set I purchased, but I couldn't pop out the old one to even use it.

There a fix for stuck shoulder buttons. My L and R bumpers click fine off the spring and everything but once I close the shell, pressing the bumper doesn't bounce back upon press and just gets stuck.

Got the mint green one. Love the color but the tool stripped my screws and had to drill out one of them to where now my blue joy con is messed up. I finally got to switch the blue to the mint and now the joy con is coming apart. Not happy at All. I ordered different Y tipped screwdrivers meant for Nintendo but your tool stripped them all. Now I ha e to get new joycons. There goes more money. Should of just left my switch alone.
