Godzilla reigns over all . Gtr can rip any make and model . 500 hp to 400 490 ft of torque vs 390 . Give. Both same hp and see who wins. Godzilla will eat em up and with fewer cylinders and displacement. Hate on Godzilla but in reality godzilla dominates.

Both of these cars are the best in their class, the GTR and Vette fanboys need to shut up and stop fighting each other calling the other one a '"ricer" or "american junk". They are both spectacular and pretty much all of you will never see or sit in either let alone drive or own one so just shut the fuck up. Let's be honest, no matter which you prefer, they are both gods in the car world and should be respected that way. Always baffles me that people can be so biased or ignorant towards other countries and companies efforts, a true enthusiast loves all machines.

I've sat in many GTR's from stance wars and meets and sat in the older versions such as the R32, R33, R34 GTRs.

Hmm people talk much about the Nismo GT-R with 600 horses but little do they know that this has been tested and, despite its better 0-60 times, its similar weight to the regular GT-Rs + increased downforce KILLS IT on the quarter mile, making it ONLY ONE TENTH OF A SEC (0.1sec) faster than the GT-R Track Edition. On the other hand, we now have the 2015 C7 Z06 which is even faster than the C6 ZR1, with various drivetrains available to the public, all of which are faster than the ZR1 shown in this video.. I don't mean to destroy your hopes, GT-R fan boys but the C7 Z06 will wipe the floor with your beloved GT-R :D

3.8 is slow for a ZR1 too. Times vary based on driver and track conditions. Not to mention the GTR is like a video game, the ZR1 is actually a driver's car.

Vincent Tuminello With every electronic gizmo helping you drive better in the GTR, it's one more gizmo making you feel even less connected to the car. I've watched a dozen reviews on the GTR, and almost every one talks about how easy, and numb, the driving experience is. The ZR1 may be more difficult to drive fast, but I guarantee you it rewards the driver that much more for skill. It's also never been described as "numb". I think that's what Mitch Parker was getting at. You want the fastest possible lap times, every time? Get the GTR. You want a rewarding and fun driving experience? Get the ZR1.

Vincent Tuminello Sure, let me just hold both hands on the steering wheel while my computer, oops. I mean my GTR does all the work around this track. You don't see the point, the ZR1 is a drivers car, its still a manual gearbox, rear wheel drive. Its a much more fun car to drive than that computer.

Vincent Tuminello Rwd is vastly inferior to awd? I commend you for the hybrid. I agree with you that awd CAN be made to be as fast as rwd, but it's almost never as FUN as driving a properly hooked up rwd, AND rarely as fast. I'm sorry, but rwd is FAR from vastly inferior to awd. Go watch Clarksons review of the ZR1. He recommends it OVER the awd Audi V10 he compares it against. The reason? It's more fun.

Vincent Tuminello although your argument is sound, your premise is wrong when talking about the Nurburgring (or any road course/curvy road driving). RWD is SUPERIOR in extreme handling situations not AWD. AWD will always defalt to understeer unless there is some computer trickery to intervene. Also AWD adds more weight across the board, but especially to the front of the car. Without the electronic aids the GTR is a 4000lbs understeering pig; period. The only advantage the GTR has over any car is the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times it's AWD helps it produce - that's it. In any other situation the GTR's performance will be inferior. the R35 GTR is coasting on the R32-34 GTR's coattails of legendary modability. Except everyone forgets, the RB 26 was not only bullet proof, but cheap to mod as well (at least in it's home market) the R35 is anything but. It's the equivalent of a rich guy bragging about his twin turbo Gallarado - expensive to buy and doubly expensive to mod. And in the end, completely unimpressive that the results are quicker than stick.

TheWolfMatt See, all you got is the price. The GTR's price got raised due to increased demand. Its a popular supercar that people are willing to pay extra for, so obviously it will be worth more. The GTR has 3.8L V6TT and weigh's more....that's significantly less than the vette, yet it competes....if we lived in a world where money was not really an issue and these two cars were produced, I guarantee you that the GTR is the better car. Don't get me wrong, I love vettes, but the build quality isn't exactly their trademark.

The GTR is so fucking overated. Every kid thinks its been made from fucking unicorn poop and is the fastest thing in the world. Well guess what guys... IT AINT. Thank god it has AWD because acceleration from 60 is the only thing it can do better than the Vette. (Even the new damn models) The Corvette basically brakes better, has a higher top speed, pulls more lateral G's, handles overall better, acceleration after 60mph is WAY faster and it sounds 100x BETTER.....ECT. Even the Z06 is faster than the GTR in many aspects. You guys need to stop FUCKING whining like babies and open your damn eyes.

ToxicReaper7 Yeah well with all due respect, the performance is outstanding but when it comes to reliability and durability not so much, and they depreciate so bad for that reason . also you're comparing a V6 to a V8 here. I'd say this beast GTR is too damn monstrous for a V6. it could almost outperform most supercars out there.

the corvette zr1 is un stoppable. yes the gtr is all wheel drive but, the corvette has super sticky cup tires at the rear and a supercharger giving the zr1 638 horses. The gtr is faster than the 2014 corvette by a couple of seconds but the c7 corvette is just as fast as the gtr and half the PRICE. The gtr better watch out for the new 2015 z06 . The gtr is just no mtach for this road king. have a good day.

i grew up on old american muscle...my first car was a 1972 chevelle... and other american stuff...then i got into japanese stuff and turbo charging...i found it amazing that i could get 1000hp out of a d16z built strong enough and with enough boost put to it. i had a 700hp evo viii .. super fast and super fun...as a matter of fact the first car i whooped up on was a zo6 corvette with a blower.. i went through different cars , built and tuned alot of engines american and import.. street and drag cars... i was hooked on power and didnt care where it came from... but through it all...i always missed the sound of my old chevelles exhaust....i missed the sound of american muscle... so i got a C6..and im on the road to ls3 stroker 416..turbos and 1400hp....the skyline is a great car,..,always has been ...the old rb engines are bullet proof monsters. the gtr comes from a great past,,it still is great...the corvette has become something phenomenal... it should not be able to out handle the gtr but it does or at least it did this time.. all that being said.. IMHO nothing sounds as good as a stroked v8 with a healthy overlapped cam at idle and nothing sounds better than that same thing doing a 200 mph flyby. I LOVE MY VETTE .... i will always have one...but i love my bimmers too..and AMG mercedes..

I think the biggest problem for the new GTRs when new comparos are made is that when they get hot they start dialing down the turbos. I read a reveiew of the GTR Track Pack and a C7 Z51 on this same track. The GTR wound up being slower simply because of the heat.

It would be more interesting if the gtr had the same power as the vette, the outcome I believe would be a little different. Since the test is about two cars around the same price, the corvette is the better value as far as what you get for 100k.

Yes, Motor Trend tested the base Viper against the '14 GTR Track Edition and the Viper was a couple tenths of a second quicker around Laguna Seca.

Honestly the ZR1 can not do a better lap time than the GTR very one knows that. A rear wheel drive compare to all wheel drive come on guys that driver wasn't pushing that car I can tell u. I drove a gtr on the track and that car is insane fast around the track

this comparison is extremely biased, you aren't fooling anyone: price of a 2009 GT-R $76,840 for the base model, $79,090 for the Premium model. STARTING price of 2009 ZR1 - $103,300 ^^^^ oh yeah, totally unbiased comparison alright? yeah, that's what i thought. that means that the GT-R still would have won over any car that is the same as its price. that's a near $25,000 difference between the two cars...

Branden Lucero The Z06 isn't made for luxury, it's made to be fast around a track. A base 911 shouldn't even be mentioned. Even the Turbo S is slower around a track than a Z06.

MrTheMark21 exactly the Porsche isnt about speed, unless of course its a 918, its about luxury. so as i said, the Z06 is may be better for its price (just for speed), but that's about it. otherwise, it doesnt scream "muscle car" to me. i'd rather get behind the wheel of the SRT Hellcat, regardless if its slower. its a far more attractive American car. the Corvette looks more European now.

The 2.8 sec is under perfect track conditions and a tune to the track that it was tested on. Usually when it comes to the bigger name car and track organizations, the super car builders have their mechanics at the track tweaking the car to give it the best time possible for that particular track. That's why it's better to watch these types of information gathering groups, because they honestly test the cars pulled from the line and test them.

Rob Rac True enough. People dog Consumer Reports, but at least they buy their cars at the dealership, they don't get some tweaked car for the press releases. Nissan was already caught providing enhanced cars for testing. The dyno test here is prime example of sandbagging, since a AWD car making 406 HP at the wheels is making a lot more than 480 to the crank.

First of all, the GT-R being discontinued is very unlikely, and only based on rumors, with an upcoming NISMO GT-R and new GT-R concepts rolling out, I'd say it's here to stay. Second of all - its "Nürburgring", not nurremberg. The ZR1 is half a second slower than the '12 GT-R around the Nordschleife, the '13 and '14 lap times are yet to be officially stated. Porsche on the other hand just obliterated the competition around the Nordschleife in their 918. So now stop pulling arguments out of your ass, and stop refering to biased videos made for entertainment purpouses on KZfaq. And btw, the Viper ACR and TA slaughters the ZR1, if you're gonna praise any American super car, it should be the Viper.

Kyle Healy The ZR1 obviously wins a full mile drag race, it's got a more than 100bhp/tonne power-to-weight ratio advantage. On tracks however, they are about equal - given that both cars are driven by professional race car drivers. However concidering they both are budget supercars, they are suppoused to be fast in the hands of the general public - and lets cut to the chase here, both you and I would be ALOT faster in a GT-R, than we would be in a ZR1. The fact of the matter is that the vette requires a professional race car driver to produce competetive lap times, whereas the GT-R will still produce decent lap times even if the driver is an "avarage joe" so to speak. Not taking anything away from the vette, it's a properly fast car. But the fanboys hype a car that they themselves would never be able to produce lap times in.

Kyle Healy Rethgore Let’s face it, we would all like to drive either one. Some of us would prefer the GT-R over the ZR1, some of us would go the other way around. It's really down to personal preference. If you like to put consistent track times down, get the GT-R, if you like to have a bit more of a challenge, get the ZR1. If you have the cash, get both. Both cars are great at what they do and I'm sure both will be around for a very long time.

The gtr still looks like every other car on the road Kia,Honda,Mazda,Toyota. Looks like all of the different beater cars in the parking lot of any high school. If I'm buying a sports car it better look and act like one. I guarantee the valet will park the zr1 up front with the Bentleys and the gtr in with all the minivans and rentals.

Bought a new 2019 Corvette Grand Sport, with a MANUAL TRANSMISSION, and it’s a great car! Huge, fantastic handling, and with the magnetic ride control, the car goes from track stiff to cruising smooth in an instant. My wife even asks when we can go for drives in the Corvette Grand Sport, and that rarely happens with my NSX. Buy one, if at all possible, life is short.

Stephen Bagnell Who cares? Compare the Z06 to a GT-R that will be produced in volume like the 2015 GT-R Track Edition. The Nismo is a limited production car, only 200 units, only 52 in the USA, so who really cares about it? It's just a hype car to boost GT-R sales. When they modified the Nismo for the Nurburgring trying to build pre-release hype, I stopped caring about it. It could have been so awesome too.

Of course the ZR1 won! Lol that's doesn't prove anything Smh It's an old GTR. A 2010 perhaps... At only 480hp & 406 at the wheels & peeing heavier It's was outmatched from the start! The Corvette had more Hp at the wheels than than GTR had Hp period! LOL & these results were surprisingly to anyone! Compare it to the 2014 GTR track pack or the 2014 GTR Nismo & you get the same results in reverse! ZR1 will get smoked BADLY!

Isn't that because the ZR-1 is older. Be fair in your comparisons. First you say this comparison isn't fair because the GT-R is older, when the video was posted in goddamn 2008, and then you go on to compare the vette' to a 2014 GT-R? Please shut up. The GT-R isn't my favorite, despite having owned one in 2012. And the Vette' was never my favourite too. With that same money, you could by a 4C, an F-Type, or a Cayman S. All better cars overall in my opinion.

It's a battle year by year. The ZR1 held the record at the Nurburgring for a while (faster than an Enzo). The ACR took over later, and held it for a while. I expect the new ZR1 to break into the sub-7 ring time. These cars were both way ahead of its time, price point or not. I respect the GTR greatly. I sat in with a race instructor throwing a ZR1 around @ 150 MPH on corners and giggling about it. Believe me, my friend, any car that's performing better than a Ferrari Enzo deserves more respect.

GTR had so much body roll through the slalom & the tires were absolutely screaming. Corvette really dominated the braking, slalom, & skid pad tests because it is much lighter. The GTR is simply too heavy at almost 4,000lbs.

Nice video, good to see a RWD rock solid push rod motor spank the all electronic AWD overpriced GTR around the track and everywhere else. The vette looks better in every respect than the nissan, no question, the muscular ZR1 is a great performer.
