ive test driven 2 BMW E46 as well as later models and would have to say that the E46 is the best plus alot cheaper to maintain then later BMW models as it has less electrics that can go wrong.

@@gabrielmonteiro1157 it is, if you dont drive like a di*k and you can do oil change and all that sh*t on your own, it is the perfect car, i drove it for like 2 years without any problems

Its reliable. Parts are pretty cheap and if you know how to use a wrench you can repair almost everything on your own. Look out for rust on the body when buying this car. Engine will do 400.000km for sure when maintenance is done properly. I believe it will even last longer. Its also my first car and it is just perfect. Low diesel usage, lots of torque, timeless beautiful design and easy to work on.

Mine (stock) dies between about 2500 rpm and 3000rpm. It pulls quite alright for its age otherwise. Any ideas? It only happens if I press the gas pedal 100%, if about 90% it goes. Engine's fine AFAIK, turbo's mint, injectors are rebuilt. haven't checked sensors nor exhaust yet.

@@miguelrocha1880 Been 7 months but... I had both cracked vacuum lines and a faulty MAF. Oddly enough, after replacing them it lost quite a bit of low end torque, but I'm fairly sure I had a boost leak (had to re-seat a couple stuff). After checking the MAF, car now drives beautifully; can't believe I've waited this long to test it. Starts pulling very low in the rev range and pulls progressively through the rev range!

I have a 150hp as well, but my 4th, 5th gear very sluggish, when i floor it, the fuel consumption doesnt hit it all the way, only after i pass 3k/3,5krpm, feels very slow compared to yours, what can be the issue?

For that age and lots of km on it's back,car goes very good,but I don't like engine sound(diesel),I like petrol engines,E46 coupe M54B22,manual gearbox in my garage.:)

Have the same car and it has too much torque between 2K-4K... it's a shame that it has only 5 gear... it should be 6 and it believe it could easily reach 240-260kmp/h.

Same car here, but only 6 gear, goes about 220 in sixth gear. Fully stock, no chip. I think with some fuel injectors from a 330 and maybe a better or new turbo it could reach those speeds

it doesnt max out 5th gear, 6th gear is not going to make a difference. Might make it even worse if it hits lower torque levels

@@mariusrusu484 unii-s asa de agresivi și de proști încât te forteaza sa schimbi banda, chiar dacă nu o poti face în condiții de siguranță. Eram angajat într-o devansare, aveam 180 și bombardierul vine nervos din spate cu flash-uri insistente, vedea ca acceleram, dar ce mesaj a vrut sa transmită? Ca e șmecher? Oricum la 180-200 s-a oprit, nu-i mergea droanga mai mult. Inteleg sa dai flash-uri când te tine unul în spatele lui cateva minute aiurea, dar nu vii cu flash-uri de la 2 km departare ca și cum ai fi în misiune. Eu nu dau flash-uri fără motiv.

He didn’t want to turn it off completely... You have to keep the DSC button pressed for longer to fully turn it off. I love how people assume things😂😂

Patmol wrong, there are 6 speed too. i do not know about non facelift, but my facelift has 6 speed and it essentially is the 5 speed gearbox with a 6th gear added so quite a jump in top speed.

mihajloMK3 remember, even though it's only 150bhp, it's diesel, and diesel has a LOT more energy than gasoline. Plus these engines have like 300nm i believe

It's kinda sad that they made the m57 so slow in the e39 525d... I mean 163hp in a 2.5l straight 6 turbodiesel cmon bmw it's slower then your own 2l straight 4
