My favorite part of Klavier Gavin is his endless search for the truth. It was very clearly displayed against Kristoph in the final case of AJ AA. And when he said Prof. Courte had a big impact on him, it all made sense. While it was a small cameo, seeing Gavin here was really cool, ja?

That mock mock trial had me in stitches and made me realize that in the ace attorney universe, Law is pretty much a competitive sport.

The first time Means appears he's supposed to be empty-handed. The English version for some reason doesn't do this so he shows up with his staff during the first conversation you have with him (this is a plot hole). The iOS version does it right.

That moment when Phoenix let Apollo take his place and watch the trial instead of him, and Athena yelled "not fair, I wanna watch it too!"... Wright, you don't have a daughter. You have two daughters and a son, three kids in total. Maya and Pearl also had been refered as his younger sister/cousin-likes a handful of times, soo.. the dude has really become a head of a big family by now. I'm so proud of him.

Between meeting long-lost childhood friends that are suddenly acting aloof and distant upon reuniting (...whose reasons for separation include the murder of a single parent), yet another red oni/blue oni prosecutor/defense attorney pair, and the reappearance of Klavier Gavin, this case is shaping up to be quite the nostalgia-fest. I also really like the detail where he tells Athena not to believe what she reads in the tabloid. He always comes off more mature when he's not the POV character (and I can't tell if that's poor consistency or fridge brilliance. Maybe a bit of both, seeing everyone who gets to be a POV character in Ace Attorney turns into a disaster), but in this case it really suits him after what he went through during his disbarment. He would have seen his fair share of disparaging articles...

I feel fcking sorry for Klavier as a character. Because of the "no spoilers rule" Ace Attorney devs had been following since AJ:AA, characters from the previous novels can't get proper character arcs. They appear as short cameos and nothing more. It's obvious that Klavier should have changed after the events of AJ:AA; he had lost his brother and his good friend in one of the worst ways possible - by discovering that they are murderers. He learned that he was manipulated by his bro into tarnishing the life of an innocent man. It was also implied that Kristoph might have been psychologically abusive towards him (I wouldn't be surprised if he abused Phoenix as well, that would explain that nightmare of a man he had become over those years). Klavier obviously developed a trauma after all this - but the devs never showed him overcoming it, unlike Edgeworth and Franziska. Franziska had got her character development arc, even though she did not deserve it (yes, I hate her and I'm biased, sue me). What makes Gavin not deserve it as well? Also, Apollo appears to act hostile towards him, just like he did back then in AJ:AA when he blamed Klavier for bringing Phoenix down. But he changed his behavior and was sincerely worried for him once he learned that it was actually Kristoph's plan, and that Klavier is just as much of a victim as others involved. And what do we see here? Apollo is still acting like a bitch. The devs didn't want to spoil AJ:AA for us, but instead they robbed us of a great example of overcoming one's personal drama and psychological trauma. It's gonna get even crazier in Spirit of Justice, when Dhurke asks Apollo about his career and the latter says something like "well, my first case was a disaster, the second one got me searching for stolen panties, one of the prosecutors I've battled calls me Herr Forehead, and the other is a samurai". Like... seriously? Is that *all* you can say about Klavier and the cases you've been through? As well as Simon, and Athena, and their connection? About Clay and his death, and where that investigation took you? I dunno why am I ranting here. I just love Klavier as a character and see a vast potential in him, the potential that was, sadly, wasted.
