Just do it, that was the motto of this high-altitude tour. With no experience, a day on Germany's highest mountain, the Zugspitze, should be an unforgettable adventure as it was my first time touring solo. It is about 21km to the Zugspitze via Reintal, making it the longest hiking trail to the Zugspitze. The hike begins in Garmisch-Partenkirchen at the Olympic Stadium. You should have a head for heights and be sure-footed, as it gets very steep after the Reintalangerhütte (1369 m) and there are also a few easy climbing passages. Now it begins to be a strenuous mountain tour, when you reach the Knorrhütte you are already at 2051 hm. There you can enjoy the alpine view. Another path runs there via the so-called Gatterl from Ehrwald. From there you continue, partly through snow, depending on the weather conditions to the glacier and the Sonnalpin station (2,579 m).
From there you can take the cog railway that runs between Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Sonnalpin.
But if you want to climb the Zugspitze, you now have to do the steepest part of the tour to get on top of germany. The Zugspitze is 2962 m high, from there you have a perfect view of the Bavarian Alps. And that was the end of my solo outdoor adventure, with the Zugspitz cable car down to the Eibsee.
