Hey!! This is a short Zutara vid I had the need to make :P It's told by Zuko and he's kinda thinking back on how they met and stuff...their first fight, the neclace bit.....stuff like that. Hope you like it!!

I'm of the opinion that everybody should just pretend like Katang never happened in cannon. I'm not saying that Zutara necessarily should have been cannon but I can say without a shadow of doubt that Katang shouldn't have been either. It was inconsistent with their personalities. It was just "the hero and the female lead gotta be together" not "would these two people actually work together." Its like when somebody says something particularly dumb and you don't even acknowledge they said a word because its so ridiculous.

I know right? I think the writers decided that Ang deserved to get the girl, by I think it would've been more interesting if they ended the series without him and Katara getting together.

MarvelGirl1997 I HATED the ending... that kiss made me sick to my stomach it was so gross lol. Everything about Zuko and Katara would've made so much more sense.... their ending was too ridiculous and poor for literature... Zutara was perfect and would've literally been at the level of a classic epic.

I. Thorberg Are you kidding? Lol almost every scene they were in was exciting... like in first season, he says to her "I'll save you from the pirates" and she tells him "go jump in the river" and he carries around her necklace, Jun asks if it's his girlfriend's then later says "she's too pretty for you" then they have an epic fight in the finale then in season 2 different things throughout that show they are sooo similar but complementary. And of course the end of season 2, where she offers to heal his scar - they play ROMANTIC music and he lets her touch it when he didn't let anyone else (the girl Song for example). Things like that, Katara being told by the fortune teller that she will marry a "very powerful bender" and she asks if he's tall or something... She had a thing for bad boys, as we saw with Jet. In the little chibi short, Zuko tries to get her to go out with him (along with the other guys) and in the end she chooses the BLUE SPIRIT who was actually Zuko if you remember lol and she even had her own similar counterpart in Season 3. Zuko complained that Mai was not "passionate about anything", whereas you see many times, Katara is a very passionate person - same with Zuko, they are both similar in their natures but complementary, both lost their mothers and both are emotional and hold mutual understanding for one another on a deeper level (Season 3 shows this well when they become friends). There are just so many things, I can go on forever...

+I. Thorberg Ange Serena covered it thoroughly, but again, really? They had so much more chemistry than Kataang and Maiko combined. Scenes like the Crystal Catacombs and The Last Agni Kai were so emotionally charged and had awesome moments between Zuko and Katara. The fact that they have a more complex relationship than any other characters, with them being enemies and then becoming extremely close in a short amount of time adds to the awesomeness of the ship. The opposite elements is a cool idea, and Zuko genuinely acts like he loves her. Their embarrassment during the Ember Island Players Play and when they find Jun in the finale describe to a T the chemistry between the two. I think it is odd that their are so many references to Zuko and Katara being a couple. Their complex relationship and the numerous intimate scenes between the two screams chemistry.

This is God. I love how for the most part, it follows their relationship with each other from season 1 to season 3. I used to think of Shrek when I heard this song, and now that is really not the case. Zutara will take everything you know and make you think of the ship when you hear it. It is addicting and I love it. Great video!

Aang's love, yes. Hell, the very first episode we saw that puppy love look in his eyes. But Katara's feelings, up until said kiss, was seen as motherly, perhaps even sisterly. The only hint we've seen before then was when the fortune teller episode, where Aang saved them all from the volcano and Sokka says, "Wow, I sometimes forget what a powerful bender Aang is." And even then, the fortune Aunt Wu gave her was the only reason that even meant anything. Anything else was from friendship.

Yes. To know that Zutara could have happened but the the stupid Kataangers acted like 3 year olds throwing a temper tantrum infuriates me. However, such a massive and obsessive fan base has sprung up around it not being canon that it relieves me.

Obviously Katara loves Aang but it seems motherly/sisterly to me. If her brother was in pain, she would have comforted him too. Both love and kindness on her part; that's the sort of person she is. That's not the same as "in love."

As for the 'Zuko was sorry for leaving Mai'. Not sorry enough to stay with her. Zuko tried as hard as he could to gain Katara's forgiveness for betraying her in Ba Sing Se. Even aside from the 'finding her mother's killer and going to let her kill him', we see hints of it even before that. Out of everyone, her opinion was the one that meant most to him. When Azula attacked the Western Air Temple where they were hiding, he wasn't anywhere near her when the roof was falling. He had to have been--

Yes, I know. I realize that even though Korra got her bending back, it's not because she's a brat. As someone pointed out online, Korra has been working her whole life to be the avatar. Aang had to work 3 books because he was 100 years behind and he didnt want to be the avatar. Korra worked 17 years, even thought we haven't seen it.The problem here is Mako. He took Korra away from Bolin and left Asami for her. Zuko did break

It's on the episode "The Beach" in Book 3, when they're on Ember Island. It's also the episode where everyone has their 'episode' around the campfire, revealing more about their past and families.

they only made it that simple because they didn't know that they were going to be making 3 other books to Korra, so they wanted to end book 1 like they could end a series... and Mako and Asami had already broken up when he said "i love you"

in case you're still not convinced, I think another reason the writers didn't go for Zutara is because it would have been TOO hot for a kid's show and the relationship drama that falls from it (Aang and Mai's heart break) would have distracted from the main plot and shifted attention away from Aang as the main character.

If you think about it, Katara is technically the Southern Water tribe’s equivalent to Princess Yue, so if Aang was never found, then Zutara could just naturally happen. Even though that’s not what happened, this ship had me at “I’ll save you from the pirates.” 😂❤💙

@thegregjay1 Firstly, Avatar is a great show (ANY zutarian/kataanger will tell you that) I wouldn't be lying if I admitted some might like Zutara together because they're both hot, but I would be lying if I said that was ALL they had together. I for one, always adored how they had this mutual relationship by the end of the last season: they'd both easily risk they're lives for each other. Her and Aang, on the other hand... I can't really help it but feeling one-sided even after the finale.

Agreed. Actually, Katara and Zuko were supposed to be together, but Nickelodeon wouldn't let the writers do it. I think that the writers had crafted the relationships of the characters so well, that it was nearly impossible to get a believable love interest going between Aang and Katara. Zutara makes more sense, especially by the end of the series. They're both at the same maturity level (I feel Aang is still a little lacking). They have the sexual tension (Kataang never had it). Zutara 100%

I wish this could have been cannon. It would have made for a more interesting relationship build up. If it was originally made for an older audience it probably would have happened but they had to go with the one that was more appealing to the younger audience base.

I heard that the people who made Avatar said on TV that in the original storyline it was going to be Zutara! but because it was kid's show the protagonist has to get the girl... >:( Little kids don't even care about their love lifes!!!! Then in the last season I bet even the writers were sick of kataang and maiko, so they threw in a bunch of Zutara scenes for themeselves and the majority of the fan base! ZUTARA FOREVER!!!! they should make a manga of the show with Zutara!

It seems right that Katara would end up with Aang. They've been friends for a really long time, they had a crush on each other. I don't think there was anyone else who could have ended up with Aang and seemed right. BUT... Zuko and Katara would have made such a hot and romantic couple!

And let's not forget that Katara was actually angry at Aang when he forced a kiss on her during Season 3 Episode 17. We don't see any more development on her feelings about that, until one scene in the last episode where all of a sudden, she is together with Aang. Honestly, it doesn't make sense.

1:25-1:27 Come on, Katara, why go for Aang when you can have HIM? Didn't anyone ever tell you that bald guys with lots of tattoo's are dangerous? Zuko saved your life and went on to shield you with his own body. He also went with you to find your mother's murderer at great personal risk. What more could you want?

Katara is very motherly, protective, & intense. Aang is very soft-spoken, light-hearted, & childlike. They would be very soothing for each other. I forgot to mention how Zuko has a 1-track mind which will annoy Katara to no end as she tries to negotiate with him. Mai and Zuko, while not the most interesting pair make sense for each other if nothing else. They have the same noble high class background which instantly makes life together a breeze. They won't have to deal with cultural differences.
