I have built a few Zvezda kits and this looks to be an older kit which I’ve never built. That being said, the new kits (those issued since about 2014/15) are very good and have come a long way from what they produced 20-25 years ago. Whenever I do a subject that is Soviet or modern Russian they are usually the catalog I go to first. This unfortunate war has made finding some of these kits difficult and expensive..though I believe the company is not on any embargo list. They have come a long way, but you are right about the decals. Great review Jon as always! Thanks

Hi Jon. Another one in my stash! I have a later issue of this kit (2019) and the decals look fine and there's just a hint of sink mark on the port side tail plane fillet. Good value for $45AUD ($29USD). Plus I have a Yahu instrument panel for it (It was only $10AUD). I agree that the prop is not up to the standard of the rest of the kit. Hello Jon, thanks for the excellent video, I have this Yak 3 in my stash, I have not checked the condition of the decals hahaha, if the box is newer it is the 2021 edition, I hope they are in optimal condition hahahaha. Regarding the model itself, I like the details that the engine has, but the aerodynamic assembly that makes this plane beautiful is lost, it has a P51 air hahahaha, the detail in the tail and connection of the ailerons seems to me that I will have to Also check, regarding those ejector marks, in gridded areas, I cut a piece of double masking tape or a thin piece of plasticard and glue it on it, you just have to take the exact measurement, it manages to visually pass the inspection hahahaha. I must say that I was recently able to assemble a Zvezda Su 2, a single-engine bomber from WWII. This kit was really a surprise for me. The entire process was a pleasure to assemble. I didn't need putty or to fill anything. Very nice details on the figures. The pilot and gunner, like the pilot of the Yak 3, are the best, the only point against them is the decals of the instruments, somewhat sparse and unrealistic details, an interior Edwardian set would fit in there, but not having it I had to use what was coming, it is worth giving that kit a chance, I reiterate that it is my impression, I was very surprised by the result hahahaha Well I won't go on any further, greetings and thanks for your time, until the next video.

I only experienced Zvezda through a 1/72 scale Luftwaffe ground crew for a diorama I’m working on. Nice details and good plastic. I should try one of their kits. Thanks for the good video!

Boy these Russian aircraft are starting to look interesting just like Japanese. I've never heard of this kit but the details are quite nice. It appears to be a third cousin to the P51, but the wing chord and empennage are slightly different. Two things I have not tried on decal yellowing are putting them between two plates of glass and setting them in the sun, or using a "grow lamp" - they have a UV range that might help - the sun is cheaper :-) I think i saw a whitening liquid they other day but need to double check that
