4 GB of RAM was great 15+ years ago in 32 bit cpu architecture. Now a days, all that gets you is a retro gaming machine with a modern OS.

@@zalankhan5743 2014? The Witcher 3 came in 2015 with minimum 6 gb ram requirement. In 2013 was good to have 8 gb ram. 4 gb was already lowish

For anybody interested, the cats kept dying on that one block due to entity cramming. Basically there are too many entities in one place that every new entity gets killed by the game. People use it for farms and mob grinders but in a hardcore world you can easily lose the world. It works with all 3 coordinates so unless you're standing on that one exact block you're good

In minecraft there is called "entity cramming" which is when there is 24 entity on the single block,incoming 25. one is killed.Thats why the jacks are dying. Minecraft players use this mechanic to build automatic cow,pig etc farms. Great video as always.👍

Also, I didn't realize just how slow hard drives speeds were. When I built my PC, I used some old hard drives, and when I tried to play ram intensive games, it would utterly destroy all playability and it would just be stuttering every other frame. Since then I've switched to a 1 TB SSD so I'm content now, but that was brutal.

stuttering isnt usually connected to storage speeds unless the drive had lik no space left at all

I had an old system with 320 GB of HDD years ago. I wanted to play GTA 5 on it. My Pc was barely capable of playing the game with enough FPS and also it would stutter especially when I was driving. When I was doing missions online with random people, they sometimes insulted me and told me to have better internet. Then I bought a 500GB SSD and tried playing again. The stutters were gone. It was the HDD which made it stutter to the point the game was unplayable.

I mean, it totally depends on your needs. 4 gigs is not much, but you can scout used PC parts market for relevant hardware, pop a Win 7 on that sucker (maybe XP if you're going full retro), an oldschool DX10 GPU along the lines of gtx280/285 or mid-tier newer stuff like gtx660/750Ti depending on what's the bargain on your local used market, same thing with the CPU - Sandy Bridge or better i5/i7, whichever is the best deal for you. Basically, you have a retro-compatible PC you can use for any 2007 or earlier game to blast through.

Kryzzp, in the windows settings page search for "performance" and there should be an option that says "Adjust the appearance and performance of windows". In the advanced tab, you can assign 'virtual ram' by dedicating space from the hard drive. I wonder what performance improvement it would give in a situation like this, or if it only helps with caches or something. It would be interesting to experiment! :D Have a good weekend brother.

4gbs is still fine in almost any linux distro assuming you use a particularly light desktop environment or with a window manager for just like browsing the web, light gaming, and coding/using office software. Particularly if you have a dedicated GPU so you don't have to give up 128-500mbs of system memory for the apu/igpu.

My experience with low end hardware always go in one direction, the GPU is very important even if the CPU is crap and you have low amount of RAM, just up the resolution and go for low/medium details. Even a 15yo Core 2 Quad with some overclock and 8GB of RAM can handle a GTX 1650 or a RX470 without any problems, it's just missing some newer CPU instructions and some games like CyberBug are a bit too demanding, otherwise they work great and you'll have a great time.

@@zainuddinjafferali619 Since you havent gotten a response yet bearing the risk its no longer relevant to you. Yeah a I5 4th gen is perfectly fine with a 1050ti and it will most likely run any game on the market but some games will have to be lowered to Low settings 720p due to the lacking Power of the 1050ti. I wouldnt go any higher thou. Ive used a I7 4770 back in the day and even an RX 480 was to powerful for it. The I7 4770 is way stronger than whatever I5 you have and the RX 480 was comparable to a 1060.

when I was in middle school during the pandemic times, me and my siblings all needed a device for online classes, so we got an old laptop with 4 gigs of ram and some hard drives with like a 3rd gen i5 and chrome didn't too so well on it, so I searched online and when I found out about virtual ram, I made the virtual ram like 12 gigs or something and of course it wasn't magic, but I felt an urge to tweak it and when I got a 10th gen i3 lappy with 8G RAM 256G SSD chrome is much better now but I still undervolt my CPU (had some crashes but now its stable) and Intel UHD because now I am really interested in this stuff.

My laptop has a Pentium Silver N6000, 8GB ram, 256GB of what I assume is an SSD, made by HP. The MAJOR thing that drags the system down in my opinion is overheating (it frequently throttles down to 400MHz) and I cannot seem to undervolt it. The screen is also quite bad, but *usable*.

I wonder how older games with a older CPU would do, more so with the RAM in dual channel instead of single channel as with this test. I have a slim/SFF Acer prebuilt that I plan on upgradeing to sell for basic use and some older games (like games that came out in the PS3 era). Currently it got a Pentium E6600 though I have a Core 2 Quad Q9400 laying around, for RAM both the slots on the board are occupied with a 2x2GB (4GB) kit of DDR3 1333MHz that i'll likely replace with a faster 2x4GB kit if needed though may just skip upgrading RAM and stick with 4GB (dual channel) for it to help reduce costs before putting it up for sale. Currently don't have a dedicated GPU (only intergrated in the form of the Intel GMA X4500) but would need to be something low profile, I'm leaning towards something like a GT 1030 or something older that would still be capable of getting at least 30FPS average at 720p in games from 2013-2014 such as GTAV, Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition, Tomb Raider (2013) & Sims 4 along with some online games such as War Thunder and Final Fantasy XIV.

The HDD will run fine once you have enough Ram to not use the pagefile. SSD boot drives are amazing though, but for running the games, currently no games runs any different on an SSD, it's just load times, but that may change in a year or 2, Stalker 2 will require an SSD

@@MrZodiac011 Yeah but Chris put 4GB RAM in his rig, with only 4 GB tons of games, even old ones, will use the page file. And while not being a big deal for some people, I personally like the shorter load times of 2.5" SSDs so much that I (again, personally) wouldn't use a HDD for games in my build (NVMe is too much money for all the to me useless performance). If I didn't have the money for all the wanted storage I'd wait a month and buy the rest from my next wage. Also I think Forza Horizon 5 does something with the SSD speed, mainly the NVMe speed, but I forgot what. And I wouldn't be surprised if in a couple years I saw more use of the drives speeds in gaming

An advice for you, just press win key + r and type msconfig, next head to advanced tab and limit your ram to whatever you want, 1024mb for each gb, restart pc and thats it, no messing with hardware, and completly safe

ive completed gta 5 with 4 gigabytes of ram and gt 430 2gb and core 2 dou E7500 gen 7 and with 45 FPS it was playable!

I have 8GB of ram with a ssd on a ryzen 3 4300u laptop, and on ram hungry games like forza or rust, the CPU is at 100% , it bottlenecks the iGPU and it’s barely playeble because it uses the ssd as ram. So if you want to game on your laptop, you really need at least 12 GB, 16 GB will unleash the full power of the laptop.

I've 4gb ram with Intel HD 5500 and i5 5th gen in my laptop and it bottleneck at lot in gta 5 or any game I play I tried every trick on KZfaq but didn't work for me Can you tell me the reason behind it

External hdd with usb 3.0 is ok, loads games fast enough for me Having 2x 2gb ram would have improved the fps a bit

Some games were installed on the HDD, what matters is the disk where the OS is installed for the pagefile :)

@@zWORMzGaming you can change the drive where the pagefile is stored regardless of where the os is though. I have my os on a normal sata ssd and my pagefile on my gen4 m2 ssd.

I still play 4gb ram and a terrible gpu and cpu and get 5 fps on minecraft lowest settings... I am saving up for a pc but sadly cannot match the new prices
