Actual chinese gacha characters

The original video has a rough tldr. It's some old chinese epic with genshin characters reimagined as the book characters

A lot of characters are merged with animals that are used a lot in Chinese stories (EDIT: represent mythological beasts). (albeit a lot are also used in international stories, but with different meanings. e.g.: Yanfei with the lion, which is used for bravery in the west, while in chinese stories it (often) means stability, or protection. The fox Yelan is not a 'kitsune' here (japanese), but a jiǔwěihú (writing copied from wikipedia as i forgot the letters lol), but it means essentially the same, aka cunning, tricks, deceit. (EDIT: they represent characters/beasts from traditional Chinese stories, but therein the type of animals/beasts do represent certain traits) Basically: this video mostly just has animal symbolism, which in general is pretty easy to understand based on the graphics shown, but there are some differences between how certain cultures use certain animals :) (EDIT: such as the detailed meaning of what which creature does in the original stories)

These creatures that the characters were merged with originated from a old piece of Chinese literature called the “classic of mountains and seas” which emerged around 2400-1700 years ago. Jiuweihu (the original concept of a nine tailed fox) translates directly to nine tailed fox btw which I find funny (Jiu means nine wei means tail and hu means fox). Hu Tao seems to be Nuwa a goddess, Xingqiu is Qinglong (Azure Dragon) which is one of the four holy symbols, etc. I didn’t really study that well so I can’t really tell the rest but yeah.

@@quackyman796 Also pretty sure Xiangling is a phoenix. I'm really curious about Baizhu if Hu Tao is Nuwa tho. And Xiao, cause I can't remember anyone that fits the description.

For them to make these skins, the characters have to canonically have a reason to wear these skins. This is also why the Zhongli's Archaic Petra was never released even tho everyone asked for it because Zhongli has no reason to wear that anymore.

Their ideals clash. Baizhi wants immortality, whereas Hu Tao believes death is part of the natural cycle. They don't disagree to the point they'll fight to the death however.

every character shown in that video mirrors characters in chinese mythology. hutao is shown as the god of death and baizhu as the god of life. yanfei is xiezhi, ganyu is kirin, xiao is a golden-winged peng, etc. All of them are references to "Classic of Mountains and Seas", which is a chinese mythology book written over 2000 years ago. Additionally, traveler is shown to be climbing up the stairs of heaven, or the "nine heavens" in chinese mythology. This is represented by them seeing different gods/adeptis along the way. Xiangling, Yaoyao, Chongyun, and Xingqiu were on the first heaven and the ninth heaven was the frame with Ningguang, Keqing and Yelan. But above all the heavens are Zhongli, Guizhong, Ping and Azhdaha because they are the "true" gods.
