I have to say the moves are easy on the lead. The hard part I noticed is his touch and feel. That's hard. It's going to take me longer than I thought it would to bring it up to par. Thank you for taking me back to school.

I remember learning every note of both solos in LaGrange. It took almost a month to get the first note of the first solo. It's a double step bend with vibrato at the end; becomes part of one's vocabulary. The only tone control I use is via a pedal or the amp; all 🎸 controls stay clockwise, maxed. Electric guitars shouldn't have those adjustments in my opinion.. A bit loquacious today... Billy Gibbons, Angus Young and Keith Richards are masters of rhythm that's the key in my opinion. What's a guy who tunes his guitar to an open chord; cuts off the bass E string; can't play lead... ever gonna accomplish? LOL Let me answer that: key/rhythm chords! 🤘

I never touch my tone knobs either, and rarely touch the volume knob. This was certainly an exception :)

What key is this in and what scale shapes is this based around?

The chords move like this: Cm7 --> Bb --> Cm7 --> Dm7 --> D. When playing over the CM7, it's C minor Blues (pentatonic minor with flat 5th). Over the Bb, it's Bb minor pentatonic. Over the Dm7 and D, it's D minor pentatonic in the first solo, and then I suppose you can call it G Dorian in the second solo.

The lead is in standard tuning. But that rhythm sounds like it's tuned different.

Exactly. The rhythm guitar was a Strat copy where the high E string was tuned down to D, according to interviews with Billy. That allows you to barre a finger across the frets of the DGBE strings, and it creates a major chord instead of what is usually a 6 chord.
